I love my xtouch I tried to go to keyboard and mouse after using my xtouch and I can't go without. Like I said I tried when I went on a vacation cuz didn't want to bring it with me and had such a hard time. I use Cubase its awesome with this control surface. Especially cuz i can customize the function keys to all my shortcuts. Agree workflow ×1000 lol. Great video.
for the loose jog wheel, press down on it kind of firmly, you might have to grab it by the sides and bring it back up a hair or two, and it will be just as good as any other jog wheel. Mine was pretty loose when i first got it.
I have the full X-Touch and I mostly use the transport section and jog wheel. Its useful for automation if you like riding the faders. Its good for tweaking plug in settings (I still use the mouse to load plugins because I like seeing the entire plugin list before me.). It is far superior to see all your tracks on the X-Touch as just one single track. I wouldnt recommend X-Touch One. I suppose you have to own one to appreciate my comments. One quirk: in Logic, every time a project is loaded, I have to turn it off and on as to reset it.
Just a quick question. I have both Ableton and Studio One. I plan to use your mappings and maybe add some of my own. What I want to know is how do you let the x-touch know that you are using Ableton or Studio One? What is the procedure when moving from one DAW to the other? Thanks.
This controller is also a game-changer for live use thanks to Mixing Station. Even desks which had no ability whatsoever for external hardware control (Soundcraft Ui24R for example) can be controlled flawlessly now with the X-touch.
Great review! For the price I think it's a great controller too. I use it with Pro Tools (and it does have very limited functionality). But it definitely gets me through projects so much faster. I sometimes like being able to write automation with a physical controller, and it saves me some screen real estate not having to flip between windows so often. I especially find it useful when I'm working with plugins on my screen. Instead of having to constantly click between the plugin window and the edit window so that I can use the usual keyboard shortcuts, I can keep my plugin windows active and use the Xtouch to play/record/loop/save etc. Oh, and the little save button that lights up red when there is unsaved data...huge life saver! Whenever I see it red, I reach over and double tap it to save the session...it has saved me several times when my DAW crashed and I would have otherwise not saved as frequently and lost a lot of work. Great video!
Hi Connor, I'm considering buying this for Pro Tools could you elaborate on your point on limited functionality? Does it not do all of the things it should do when using Pro Tools? Thanks
Nice point on the colored strips only working with the Behringer mixer stuff! I had no idea. I don’t feel so bad now that my StudioLive only has blue screens also. ;)
Yeah that's a shame they decided not to implement the control of them with mackie but I feel like it's more difficult than I think 🙃 Maybe an electrical engineer could help us
For REAPER, use the Mackie Control Klinke extension. It works extremely well compared to the out-of-the-box experience, and appears to still be in active development. I can't comment on this specific device, but it's good for other Mackie-compatible controllers.
Glad you liked it and bought it!! 💪🏻💪🏻 If you need it, check out the walkthrough of the daw you're using to know how it specifically works I've created one for ableton and one for s1. For Cubase and logic, in the original videos from behringer there's a lot of info and for pto tools and reaper I'm sure there's something here on the tube 😉 If u have any question let me know!!
To answer this I had to think about it because I'm not mixing a lot recently Still use it a lot when mixing Volume, panning, solo, mute, moving aroung, play, stop and the related, general solo, general mute, automations, and the shortcuts I personally created for studio ones, like opening or closing plugins A little less the sends and plugins but sometimes too. Even if I have this, still a bit thorn between the question "Since I use studio one, woulnd't it have been better to get a faderport 16?" but... the one rotary for all the pannings is kind of a nono for me So yep! Still using it and worked flawlessly ever since! 😁 Cheers! 🎹
Great man! Thanks a lot! How many scenes (layers) of my 8 faders can I use on the XT? For example if I have 80 channels in my mix, can I have so many scenes available to cover that? Thank you!!!
Nice video - thanks! 😎 I love my X-Touch... One question: would you please share how you got your X-Touch to do Vegas Mode (aka: Flying Faders) during the intro of your video? I didn't know that the X-Touch could do that (ala Avid Pro Tools Control 24 consoles), etc. I am using mine with Logic Pro X (hopefully Vegas Mode initiates with Logic) Thanks in advance for your reply. 👍🏼Cheers!
I use the X-Touch with Harrison Mixbus and there color scribbles work just fine. You just need to check the firmware for the X-Touch so it support color scribbles through the Mackie protocol.
I remember when a company called GoldStar was bought out by "LG" how their products were rubbish in the beginning. But now, LG make great quality gear. Same can apply for Behringer. Back 15-18 years ago their products were junky, cheap and something was always breaking. Nowdays, Behringer have great invitations out there and build quality is heaps better.
Hey! I checked but sorry, don't know how to do that and it depends if your DAW is sending the right signal. In my case on ableton and studio one, they PROBABLY work all right and I said probably because there's really no situation that comes to my mind, in which I clipped the channel Sorry! 😢 Cheers 🎹
Nyron please could you help me. I have the Behringer controller as well. I am using studio one and I see in your video you are too. Do you have a pdf or a text file that tells what buttons works for studio one, and how to set it up please?
@@soundrocketstudios just bought the X touch mini as I'm on a tight budget! Cheers man. I'm going to use this in conjunction with the Presonus Atom for beat making :)
Troverai spiegazioni più specifiche ruclips.net/video/Ff898fWlPA8/видео.html Ciao e buona musica a te!! 🎹
This is a NEW VERSION of the Behringer X-Touch review, built completely from scratch with: - new thoughts - news about the small problems I used to have (expecially the problem with the fighting faders which is now solved 100%) - more images of the x touch itself and less of my face lol Let me know what you think! Cheers
Hi! Great presentation and good english! I'm a studio engineer working on SSL. I have Pro Tools at home. And I definitely want to get rid as much as possible of the mouse. workflow is too slow for me. My doubts go between buying a second hand Command 8 from Avid (which of course won't give me any bad surprises) or a X-Touch... I checked the Behringer site. In the presentation they say it's compatible with PT. When I check some forums, it's another story. Apparently no access to the plug ins. What's your experience with this? I understand PT wasn't on the top of your Hit parade. What is working and what not? I really like the look and the possibilities of the XT, like the scrolling button... Could you tell me more about this? thx!
Hey! Thank you, glad you liked it! The problem with Pro Tools, as I understand (since I don't have it) is that its compatibility varies depending on each device and it sometimes limits things to basic... This is because the EUCON protocol is what Pro Tools relies on and as you can understand it is present only on bigger more costly controllers (like the command 8 or Avid S3 or ssl Nucleus 1/2 (damn how much would I love one lol!) Plugin control, routing, grouping, etc work on a "fingers crossed" basis. I'm 99% sure that you would have transport, faders, flip, rotaries, solo/mute/rec/select, fader banks/channel banks and feel like also the jog should be available, but really don't know 100%... If you find that the Mackie series of controllers work for plugins in Pro Tools you might be a lot closer to saying that this might work too (since this is close to 100% a copy of what an MCU controller do) but I just couldn't say without trying... I'll look on the internet al let you know if there's anything new Here's a comment from down here! Let me know if you decide anything ;D Cheers! "Great review! Nyroh grazie mille! I think I might give it a try. The shop where I would buy it have a few week return policy so I could test it for a while. On the other hand I can get a Command 8. Looks more boring but maybe better... ciao!
Found this in the meantime... www.pro-tools-expert.com/home-page/2018/6/14/control-surfaces-for-pro-tools-you-can-buy-for-under-500-budget-studio-bargains "... Until we hear otherwise, we believe the X-Touch has limited compatibility with Pro Tools." I guess I'll try something else... The thing is HUI is not supported anymore by Avid. :( Which make things difficult... Stay safe.
Apart from eventual feel difference (on which I can't express because I haven't tried the mcu pro), what you get is close to the same. The x touch costs less then a third, and works real close to the mcu The only thing I could think about that I definitely prefer on the mcu is the fact that the scribble strips are tilted so I can see them clearly even without thinking at the position of the controller itself 😁 If anyone has tested both please let us know! And thank you for commenting Cheers
@@soundrocketstudios yeah man thanks for your helpful reply man yeah mcu pro has those 2 screens extra but yeah cost is a big reason why anyone would go for x touch I have to make up my mind soon thanks for your opinion 👍
thank u bro for these video i want to ask u some question Do u know most of Audio interface such as UA apollo twin its support the CPU of PC to put alot of plugins and tracks .. What about this mixer its well help my CPU ?? or i should buy a twin x and connected to any mic preamp to expand my tracks ?
This is not an audio interface and doesn't transport audio in any way. It's just a midi controller (aka "a control surface") so it's not interchangeable with an apollo twin or any other audio interface. For the other question, it won't weight in any way on your cpu, don't worry about that
Hey Jono! Thank you, glad you liked it I have buuuut not actual use in real life. I compared the two directly in a local store and definitely liked the feel of the x touch more The materials used makes the faderport look and feel more like a toy to me and then there's two things: no pan pots and faders too incredibly close. Man, I just can't stand the fact that without looking, I had to "force" my fingers to stay closer one another to move two or three faders together. Not a super hard thing to do but...I mean... it is really too close for me. And I don't even have big fingers (I'm a pianist and piano teacher too) And the no pan pots thing is just not a great idea for me. Hope for a better version two for the faderport 8/16 series. But for now, I'm an x touch guy Thank you for commenting! Cheers!
Grazie, a presto! :-)
Super cool. Occhi chiusi e... Si mixa! Ciao buona musica!! 🎹
Ignore the negative comments and keep doing what you do best. I liked your video😁 I own this X touch controller and I use it with logic pro. It's a very decent midi control surface for the price range imo
@@soundrocketstudios Sounds awesome! :O I am planning to get this. Is it of better build quality than the X-Touch One? (that one wobbles badly when pressing on the buttons)
It is possible to control more than 8 Channels by switching the banks, right? How many banks can I use with this controller? How many channels can I control with the controller?
It worked pretty much perfectly apart from the jog loosing some signal here and there and I would have kept it 100% if it wasn't for the fact that... lately I pretty much found myself mixing via mouse, keyboard and a single fader so.... I bought a faderport V2 (since I'm using studio one 6) and sold the behringer 😄 This is the ONLY motivation for selling it. Great piece of equipment apart from the bulkiness lol Cheers 🎹
@@soundrocketstudios thats a shame it has that issue... Seems most of these controllers have issues... I use trackball and keyboard but im starting to get hand injuries.... looking for something to help but i find the cost to quality quite troubling... Thanks for reply... All the best⚡👍
My x-touch just stopped working. I have used endless hours to try to reconnect it, but without any result. I am using it with Sony Vegas Pro. Any idea what could be wrong? It just about six month old.
Sorry but can't really help. Reinstall the DAW after removing EVERYTHING and all the mackie control files already present usually works. Then you'll have to try to update the firmware (if not already updated), try a different cable, try a different port in your computer and at the end of everything...if nothing else work, use that warranty and ask directly to the seller of try to contact behringer! Sorry for the delay Cheers
I haven't... I actually haven't yet found an email to which I could write If I remember well I wrote on the "Music Tribe" group since seems like it's one of the only things you can do, asking about the colors of the scribble strips, but absolutely no answer
😉 Buona musica!! 🎹
I Have a Behringer X Touch One and Love it. I am considering getting the SSL UF8 because its Rack-mountable... My question is the Behringer X Touch Rack-mountable? thanks in Advance.
guys I need help. I'm really tired to print automations with the mouse and I'm looking for a fader controller. I'm in a small room and I don't have a lot of space. I've seen scheps uses the fader port. but I would like to use it also as controller for volume/esperssion/vibrato with the sample libraries. I'm on a MacBook pro i5 with 16gb , I use logic pro. please help
Samsung 27 inch curved monitor! You'll find plenty similar on amazon 😊 Actually solid build. It fell from my table like....3 to 4 times lately and the frame opened in a few spots but still perfectly works WON'T MAKE IT FALL ANY OTHER TIME SOON ._. Cheers 🎹🎹
Hey! Thank you for commenting I really don't know much about reason.....used it in the past but something like 7 years ago lol From this chat seems like mcu protocol works forum.reasontalk.com/viewtopic.php?t=7343641 (at least for controlling "ssl reason mixer" so probably for everything else too) and they're mentioning also and one of the bought the x touch so....give it a read ;) It may help! Best I could find! Thank you Cheers
Sorry for that! Have you tried changing the USB cable and using a short one? (possibly high quality) If it's not the cable..... I'm no pro tools expert and can't help you unfortunately 😔 Glad you like the feel of it though
Never used FL studio. If it is compatible with the MCU protocol it's gonna work with the x touch but haven't seen any test anywhere on the internet Cheers
Also btw... it looks like you have Kontrol Mk2 in the background... I realize it doesn’t have faders but it seems to work very well with Cubase overall! Just not at all with Studio One... hence my choice to add the StudioLive.
Sorry forgot to answer this. I don't use s1 for production but for mixing work only (ableton for production) so no prob there! Thank you for sharing! Have a nice day full of music 🎹
Ciao!
La stessa Behringer, in risposta ad un ticket da me aperto, risponde: "This will be dependent on how Cubase implements the Mackie Control Protocol. Some features may not work as expected.". Da che parte sta la verità? Grazie mille! :)
Ciaoo!
Seat Nyroh, in the video you say that every button does work in cubase. I tried it but several buttons do not work. For instance the click and the function buttons. Can you tell me what I am doing wrong? I can't figure it out. Thanx for responding. Kind regards, Wim
Hey Wim!! Sorry but can't really help with Cubase 😔 This videos might help you with the usual setup (just to be sure your x touch works properly) ruclips.net/video/LrVWRgJbSyw/видео.html ruclips.net/video/dA-Pzkpj1-M/видео.html But after that.... Unfortunately can't help! Sorry 🙏🏻 Cheers 🎹
@@soundrocketstudios thanx for your response. It seemed that cubase reacts different on some buttons. I bought a magnetic overlay with the cubase functions. problem solved! (-;
The xtouch does not work perfectly with Cubase. I have problem after problem with Xtouch in Cubase … especially the fader bank selector. It will not work in Cubase!
That's kind of a difficult question! It depends if the daw is MCU (Mackie Control Universal) or HUI compatible. You'll have to check. Beware about the fact that the mapping could change depending on which daw you're talking about and that it might not work as shown Have a nice day full of music!
Should work great! If u have an extender you should be able to spill all the parameters you wanna control on it too Notice that if u have the x touch only only, I don't know if there's a "page" function to scroll through all the parameters controllable but I think I saw a video of a modified script for the x touch which made it a lot better to control plugins too I'll have to check some more on youtube 🤔 Have'nt had the possibility to test it on cubase since even with the demo you have to buy the dongle anyway... Thank you for your comment! Have a nice day full of music 🎹
Hello I'm trying desperately to set up my control surface. (I had read that it was simple under Logic ... hmmm) Yet I respected the start (let Press Select from the first slice and turn on the table, select the protocol MC I put the 1.14 1.03 activated) The problem is that I already use a Komplete Kontrol S88 keyboard under the Mackie protocol. Maybe it's a duplicate of the shot? In short I do not know if we can use both at the same time under the MC protocol? always is that when my keyboard is off my table is still not recognized ... So I do not understand. I went in Logic ProX -> Control Surface but it does not appear in the list of products. I saw that there was an update 1.15 but normally it should be able to work without? no ? I thought it was plug and play ... here is my config: Mac OS Yosemite 10.10.1 / Logic Pro X 10.1.0
Sorry you're having all this trouble! 😢 I used to use logic when I had a mac but actually don't have one right now so can't help you directly. If you're having BOTH the "control surfaces" on at the same time (even if the s88 is not a control surface, you can set it up as one of it to use the play/stop buttons etc, which is probably what you're trying to do) YOU HAVE to be sure to have both the controllers ins/outs setted up right so please, check the ins/outs The name changes on osx so I can't tell you even the specific names 😢 Please check out these two and see if everything is setted up right. www.sweetwater.com/sweetcare/articles/how-do-i-set-up-my-behringer-x-touch-in-logic-pro-x/ support.native-instruments.com/hc/en-us/articles/210279905-Setting-Up-Apple-Logic-X-for-KOMPLETE-KONTROL It's sure that you can use multiple control surfaces in logic but....really sorry, at the moment, not having a mac, can't help more then that 😊 Let me know if you get it to work though!!
Question: I hold the button as instructed and turn on devise , I can not see Xcontrol (Xctl) on the scribble strip . I'm hook to a modem by cat 5 what's wrong?
Don't really understand how you're trying to connect If you're using a cat5 cable you're trying to connect via network but I'm not used to it and can't really help...Sorry! Cheers
Sorry but I'm not a pro tools user and unfortunately as explained the x touch doesn't really work well with pro tools 😕 Seems like they'll have to upgrade their "Mackie Control policy" if they wanna let us have some fun lol
@@soundrocketstudios oh. I caught that from the video. Maybe I should rephrase the question-- Did you test it with pro tools? Or did you get second hand information?
No that was not a test I did. I always look for news and updates for the x touch and it's compatibility but seems like there's no news on how anything got better with it 😕 Always felt like pro tools guys are a bit behind for controllers and control surfaces. Their artist mix and "S" series are still the best of the best for it
Ableton over Reaper? Ive found with Reaper its more compatible . Everything goes along with the layout , the only exception is the sends have no way to be dialed and the fact that you have to modify it to Unselect everything every time you chaging to another track otherwise youll be changing things like volume , solo and mute in the channels that stay selected. But thats something youll get used to it the more you use it with Reaper. Like right now , im using it with Ableton and ive found myself hitting the button I had assigned to unselect all by accident when I dont really need It. But I tell you this ....Ive found myself using less the mouse and the keyboard with Ableton than Reaper. The only thing I dont like about using it with Ableton is that the layout is completely messed up. Like if Ableton could have a way to modify the layout it would definitely be my #1 choice for mixing. For now Ableton its used for producing and Reaper for mixing.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for letting us know about how it now works with reaper! I was stuck with the idea that it didn't really work that well but seems like now everything is close to where it should be (: Super glad to hear that! How do u feel about the x touch itself? I'm still liking it and using it everyday Will update you guys asap Thanks again! Cheers!
@@soundrocketstudios I still use it ...but I got very disappointed after my purchase because I received some offers from sweet water (where I got it) and one of them was the Behringer Motor 49. Which its basically a midi controller with the heart of the X touch controller build in. Motorized faders , Mackie control...everything. And since now I have this constant fight for what device would be my center piece 90% of the time , I feel that the Motor 49 was the perfect piece . That way nothing have to be remove or put aside to make space for others. Very disappointed with Sweetwater on that one cuz that never showed up on my search for behringer controllers on their site. But the x touch is working perfectly fine , very happy with the functionality and everything. Ive heard ppl complaining about the faders noise...but cmon is nothing crazy unless you mixing on a anechoic chamber or some crazy space like that. And I just noticed we had the same conversation 6 months ago...sorry😂
@@AudioReplica2023 Damn! Didn't even notice haha No problem absolutely, always love to talk about music and music equiment Never heard of the motor 49. I have a komplete kontrol 61 but don't really use it since I'm not creating that much music for myself nowadays
Hey, real sorry but I actually can't answer this question 🤔 Never worked with FL and checking on the FL site, since I'm not an FL products user I can't see the answers to anyone questioning this (maybe I don't understand how to create an account on the FL site 🙈 To me it seems like the mackie implementation with FL is not that advanced....maybe someone else can help? If you're an FL user here's some links I found: www.gearslutz.com/board/music-computers/1160070-narrowed-down-x-touch-faderport-8-advice-2.html forum.image-line.com/viewtopic.php?t=151903 forum.image-line.com/viewtopic.php?t=197633
I dont think it works better with Ableton than reaper. Ableton you are stuck with the crazy configuration out of the box. Reaper on the other hand its fully customizable. Plus the automation section is very well implemented. The only good thing about using it with Ableton is when you riding the faders for automation which in a weird way uses the "Reaper v3 scale 2.3" setting. Which makes the automation smoother ....but other than that the Ableton mapping implementation with x touch is horrible....workable but horrible. Your order from good to worst should be. Logic >studio one>Reaper>Ableton ...and forget about protools.
Hey! Thank you for commenting 🎹 Some things are just sooo well implemented in ableton. Like plugin and sends. The only things that are surely better in logic/cubase are SOME of the secondary (other) buttons which are close to 100% what is written on the controller. On the other hand with reaper if you wanna use it, you mandatory have to use the Klinke's MCU integration to make it work which, btw, is only for windows (cuttin out a big chunk of musicians). And none of it is mapped, so you have to map it all by yourself which is not usually what clients are looking for I'll still surely keep an eye opened to know if anything changes! Have you tried it? Any support for MCU?
Ciao! Nyroh 🎹
the best video about x touch i've ever seen on yt. Grazie fratello
Excellent presentation.
And the best italian accent I've ever heard, if I may!
Glad u liked it and thank you!! If it was for me I'd use English everyday lol
Have a nice day full of music 🎹🎹🎧🎶😁
for the loose jog wheel, press down on it kind of firmly, you might have to grab it by the sides and bring it back up a hair or two, and it will be just as good as any other jog wheel. Mine was pretty loose when i first got it.
Thank you, I'll give it a try asap!
Just order mines today can’t wait 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙏🏽
I have the full X-Touch and I mostly use the transport section and jog wheel. Its useful for automation if you like riding the faders. Its good for tweaking plug in settings (I still use the mouse to load plugins because I like seeing the entire plugin list before me.). It is far superior to see all your tracks on the X-Touch as just one single track. I wouldnt recommend X-Touch One. I suppose you have to own one to appreciate my comments. One quirk: in Logic, every time a project is loaded, I have to turn it off and on as to reset it.
Yo your ranting was perfect that’s exactly how I feel about mouse and keyboard
Glad to know it's working for you on Pro Tools!! 👍👍
Hi Connor, I'm considering buying this for Pro Tools could you elaborate on your point on limited functionality?
Does it not do all of the things it should do when using Pro Tools?
Thanks

@@GiuseppeCorcella Dude I never heard back but I got the icon platform m+ and have extended to two x+s too. Woks great apart from master fader :)
Nice point on the colored strips only working with the Behringer mixer stuff! I had no idea. I don’t feel so bad now that my StudioLive only has blue screens also. ;)
Yeah that's a shame they decided not to implement the control of them with mackie but I feel like it's more difficult than I think 🙃

"Get this controller and get back to work!" 😂 Best! CIAO 👋
For REAPER, use the Mackie Control Klinke extension. It works extremely well compared to the out-of-the-box experience, and appears to still be in active development. I can't comment on this specific device, but it's good for other Mackie-compatible controllers.
Hey mate, thanks for this great review, I just ordered this controller for my new studio, the review definitely helped! :)
Glad you liked it and bought it!! 💪🏻💪🏻
If you need it, check out the walkthrough of the daw you're using to know how it specifically works
I've created one for ableton and one for s1. For Cubase and logic, in the original videos from behringer there's a lot of info and for pto tools and reaper I'm sure there's something here on the tube 😉
If u have any question let me know!!
For Reaper, I can't make my mind up between the X-Touch, faderport or the Icon Qcon Pro G2
Looks like a nice controller. After owning for a little did you find yourself going back to keyboard and mouse?
To answer this I had to think about it because I'm not mixing a lot recently
Still use it a lot when mixing
Volume, panning, solo, mute, moving aroung, play, stop and the related, general solo, general mute, automations, and the shortcuts I personally created for studio ones, like opening or closing plugins
A little less the sends and plugins but sometimes too. Even if I have this, still a bit thorn between the question "Since I use studio one, woulnd't it have been better to get a faderport 16?" but... the one rotary for all the pannings is kind of a nono for me
So yep! Still using it and worked flawlessly ever since! 😁
Cheers! 🎹
4:48 and 8:34 made my day :D Thanks for the video :) I'll go with X-Touch instead of Faderport 8, then buy an X-Touch EXTENDER later on.

How many scenes (layers) of my 8 faders can I use on the XT? For example if I have 80 channels in my mix, can I have so many scenes available to cover that? Thank you!!!
I got a BFC2000 but I sure like this one.
There's the new bcf coming out I think! Still from behringer

Hi Nayroh, congratulations on the video. Please, how do I make the TRACK, PAN / SURROUD, EQ, SEND, PLUG-IN and INST buttons active? thanks
👍🏼Cheers!
No Vegas mode for me too man!! Just good old volume/Panning/solo/mute buttons automation haha 😁
Thank you for commenting! Glad you like it too
Great video. How did you connect monitor screen with this controller? What kind of monitor screen was it? Thanks
I use the X-Touch with Harrison Mixbus and there color scribbles work just fine. You just need to check the firmware for the X-Touch so it support color scribbles through the Mackie protocol.
didnt realize it had foot pedal option that just gave me somthing play around with more since once mine arrives
Hello! Can you control the volume of group channels with the faders? Or only solo audiochannels? Thank you!
Is Pro Tools use still bad in 2022? looking to buy one
If you can, go with studio one because from what I see and her, it is still a problem in pro tools.
Great review. Was looking for an excuse to buy it and this has convinced me! Thanks so much
Great video! Do you think this would play well with Cubasis on iOS?
I would like to know this as well.
Thanks for Your Video! Have you ever worked with Icon M+?
How does works X Touch with Plugin?
Hi from Sicily 🙂
Ciao Massimo! Grazie!

This is a NEW VERSION of the Behringer X-Touch review, built completely from scratch with:
- new thoughts
- news about the small problems I used to have (expecially the problem with the fighting faders which is now solved 100%)
- more images of the x touch itself and less of my face lol
Let me know what you think! Cheers
If you know like I do... You'll cop one.. I got mine when it first came out and it honestly a great investment for any producer on ANY DAW!!!!!!
This is because the EUCON protocol is what Pro Tools relies on and as you can understand it is present only on bigger more costly controllers (like the command 8 or Avid S3 or ssl Nucleus 1/2 (damn how much would I love one lol!)
Plugin control, routing, grouping, etc work on a "fingers crossed" basis.
I'll look on the internet al let you know if there's anything new
Here's a comment from down here! Let me know if you decide anything ;D

How is x touch as compared to Mackie mcu pro control surface which one is better in your opinion
Apart from eventual feel difference (on which I can't express because I haven't tried the mcu pro), what you get is close to the same. The x touch costs less then a third, and works real close to the mcu
The only thing I could think about that I definitely prefer on the mcu is the fact that the scribble strips are tilted so I can see them clearly even without thinking at the position of the controller itself 😁
If anyone has tested both please let us know!
And thank you for commenting
Cheers
@@soundrocketstudios yeah man thanks for your helpful reply man yeah mcu pro has those 2 screens extra but yeah cost is a big reason why anyone would go for x touch I have to make up my mind soon thanks for your opinion 👍

For the other question, it won't weight in any way on your cpu, don't worry about that
@@soundrocketstudios thank u bro i understand now.. 🌹 🌹 ❤️
Have you compared the X Touch to Faderport 8 ? Great Video Thanks
Hey Jono! Thank you, glad you liked it
I have buuuut not actual use in real life. I compared the two directly in a local store and definitely liked the feel of the x touch more
The materials used makes the faderport look and feel more like a toy to me and then there's two things: no pan pots and faders too incredibly close. Man, I just can't stand the fact that without looking, I had to "force" my fingers to stay closer one another to move two or three faders together. Not a super hard thing to do but...I mean... it is really too close for me. And I don't even have big fingers (I'm a pianist and piano teacher too)
And the no pan pots thing is just not a great idea for me.
Hope for a better version two for the faderport 8/16 series. But for now, I'm an x touch guy
Thank you for commenting!
Cheers!
@@soundrocketstudios Thanks Man 👌
"Socket family" I love it!!!!
Grazie, a presto! :-)
Super cool. Occhi chiusi e... Si mixa!
Ciao buona musica!! 🎹

Any updates to how well it works with Ableton?

La stessa Behringer, in risposta ad un ticket da me aperto, risponde: "This will be dependent on how Cubase implements the Mackie Control Protocol. Some features may not work as expected.". Da che parte sta la verità? Grazie mille! :)
Ciaoo!

Ableton (Ab-le-ton)
Seat Nyroh, in the video you say that every button does work in cubase. I tried it but several buttons do not work. For instance the click and the function buttons. Can you tell me what I am doing wrong? I can't figure it out. Thanx for responding. Kind regards, Wim
Hey Wim!! Sorry but can't really help with Cubase 😔
This videos might help you with the usual setup (just to be sure your x touch works properly)

@@soundrocketstudios thanx for your response. It seemed that cubase reacts different on some buttons. I bought a magnetic overlay with the cubase functions. problem solved! (-;
That's great man! Glad it worked somehow 😁

The xtouch does not work perfectly with Cubase. I have problem after problem with Xtouch in Cubase … especially the fader bank selector. It will not work in Cubase!
Compatible with All Daw.?
That's kind of a difficult question! It depends if the daw is MCU (Mackie Control Universal) or HUI compatible. You'll have to check. Beware about the fact that the mapping could change depending on which daw you're talking about and that it might not work as shown
Have a nice day full of music!
Does anyone know of the xtouch black is smaller
how is it with Cubase and VSTi's i.e. Omnisphere, Zebra, etc cheers for the Vid!
Should work great! If u have an extender you should be able to spill all the parameters you wanna control on it too
Notice that if u have the x touch only only, I don't know if there's a "page" function to scroll through all the parameters controllable but I think I saw a video of a modified script for the x touch which made it a lot better to control plugins too
I'll have to check some more on youtube 🤔
Have'nt had the possibility to test it on cubase since even with the demo you have to buy the dongle anyway...
Thank you for your comment!
Have a nice day full of music 🎹

Behringer X-Touch faders horribly jittery when reading slow automation from Studio One 4. Smmfh. Helppppp!!!!!
Hello
I'm trying desperately to set up my control surface.
I used to use logic when I had a mac but actually don't have one right now so can't help you directly.
If you're having BOTH the "control surfaces" on at the same time (even if the s88 is not a control surface, you can set it up as one of it to use the play/stop buttons etc, which is probably what you're trying to do) YOU HAVE to be sure to have both the controllers ins/outs setted up right so please, check the ins/outs
The name changes on osx so I can't tell you even the specific names 😢
Please check out these two and see if everything is setted up right.

It's sure that you can use multiple control surfaces in logic but....really sorry, at the moment, not having a mac, can't help more then that 😊
Let me know if you get it to work though!!
Question: I hold the button as instructed and turn on devise , I can not see Xcontrol (Xctl) on the scribble strip . I'm hook to a modem by cat 5 what's wrong?
Don't really understand how you're trying to connect

@@soundrocketstudios which version of pro tools are you using the x touch with?
Sorry but I'm not a pro tools user and unfortunately as explained the x touch doesn't really work well with pro tools 😕
Seems like they'll have to upgrade their "Mackie Control policy" if they wanna let us have some fun lol
@@soundrocketstudios oh. I caught that from the video. Maybe I should rephrase the question-- Did you test it with pro tools? Or did you get second hand information?
No that was not a test I did. I always look for news and updates for the x touch and it's compatibility but seems like there's no news on how anything got better with it 😕
Always felt like pro tools guys are a bit behind for controllers and control surfaces.
I was stuck with the idea that it didn't really work that well but seems like now everything is close to where it should be (:
Super glad to hear that! How do u feel about the x touch itself? I'm still liking it and using it everyday
Will update you guys asap
Thanks again!
Didn't even notice haha
No problem absolutely, always love to talk about music and music equiment
Never heard of the motor 49. I have a komplete kontrol 61 but don't really use it since I'm not creating that much music for myself nowadays
Any experience with using this with Audition?
No, neverd tested it with Audition, sorry!

Question still unanswered - does it work fully with FL Studio?
Hey, real sorry but I actually can't answer this question 🤔
Never worked with FL and checking on the FL site, since I'm not an FL products user I can't see the answers to anyone questioning this (maybe I don't understand how to create an account on the FL site 🙈
To me it seems like the mackie implementation with FL is not that advanced....maybe someone else can help?

Some bottoms work
I dont think it works better with Ableton than reaper.
Hey! Thank you for commenting 🎹
Some things are just sooo well implemented in ableton.
And none of it is mapped, so you have to map it all by yourself which is not usually what clients are looking for
I'll still surely keep an eye opened to know if anything changes! Have you tried it? Any support for MCU?
Funziona con Luna ? Grazie
Ciao!
