Always stunning to think how Carlsen's tummy tells him what to move many moves ahead of the stunners that we all don't see unless some prog whispers in our ear
Of course, the players are stronger and the format is different but it reminded me of the Capablanca - Marshall (1909) Match where Capablanca dominated and Marshall just wanted to win one game to save a "little face". I think Fabi desperately wanted to win just one game but unlike Marshall, he couldn't! Fischer had swept the field in the Candidates Matches run-up to his 72 World Championship victory against Spassky but the Capablanca - Marshall (1909) Match had the same feel to me of 1-on-1 total domination. Marshall was never the same after that crushing defeat I wonder if Caruana will suffer a similar fate?

Sorry for the elementary question, but how are match scores calculated? I'm having trouble finding a good explainer online. Did they play the first two time controls eight times and the last control ten times, with each game scored 0 for a loss, 0.5 for a draw, and 1 for a win? So there were 8 draws and 18 Magnus wins across the match?

@@jimhemphill2841 From your reply I assume you do not think cheating is possible due to it being such a short time limit. You seem to forget we live in a very high tech world and it is well known that money and prestige also increases the complexity of ways people are prepared to cheat. It even can involve countries. Look at East Germany and the systems they had in place while competing in the Olympics. Or maybe Cycling and the systematic cheating that went on there. I know your statement about Magnus being better than Fischer is actually true merely by the fact that Fischer is sadly no longer with us. However, I hazard a guess that you were not meaning it in that way.
To put a little more context to why I ask the question. I have watched several hours of various online tournaments (when the players are at home) and have not heard the commentators talk in any depth about anti-cheating measures. However, in tournaments were it would appear to be much more difficult to cheat for example the Sinquefield Cup (and other similar tournaments) it was much more obvious that there were anti- cheat measures in place. We see the players being scanned/searched and phones handed in etc. Plus it was a topic the commentators spoke about endlessly.
@@permanentlybored195 You are essentially telling me that cheating is so obvious in Blitz that there is no need for any anti-cheating measures at all other than what we can see here? If that is the case then it would be incredibly easy for someone to cheat against you under the same playing conditions we can see here.
You get zero points for loss 0.5 for draw and 1 point for win so in all their games Carlsen amassed 22 and Caruana only got 4 through 8 draws. So Carlsen won 18 games lost none!! Insane 😁 thanks for watching
From what I understand that any good chess program (like AlphaZero, Stockfish, Komodo, Houdini, Fritz, HIARCS, Rybka) from past 20 years would dominate any human player even Magnus, or that is not true?
Over a match, but not necessarily over a game. I think a top player would have a good chance of getting a draw, depending on the time controls. I've seen Magnus beat a human player online who was cheating (using an engine) on time for example. I'm not claiming Magnus could beat Stockfish today. Also, 20 years ago chess engines had ELOs well under 3000, which would have been more beatable.
@@jrd33 AlphaZero mops the floor with all other top chess engines like Stockfish and other, and they mop the floor with the older versions. Humans just don't have chance to win, I am not sure about Magnus, I'd say he has exactly 0% against AlphaZero, most likely against any of other modern chess engines. Even if he actually had 0.1% chance to win, he would need 1000 games to get first win. chance of losing all 1000 games with 0.1% win rate is 36,77% Computers can play 1000 games in a day, human would need many years.

Cheating in blitz is incredibly obvious
@@permanentlybored195 You are essentially telling me that cheating is so obvious in Blitz that there is no need for any anti-cheating measures at all other than what we can see here?
If that is the case then it would be incredibly easy for someone to cheat against you under the same playing conditions we can see here.
Very well explained. Thank you.
Thanks a lot and no worries cheers for watching!
I wouldn't even find many of the strategies with normal time. Magnus is chess god.
Yeah what a player ! Love his games. Thanks for watching, Martin
Brilliant
Thanks for watching glad you enjoyed!
"In my entire life I've never seen chess domination like this"
To quote Magnus: THEREFORE, Magnus must be cheating!
Haha yeah he wouldn’t much like it if the finger was pointed at him! Thanks for watching, Dean
I don't understand the scoring... 22 to 4. What does that mean?
You get zero points for loss 0.5 for draw and 1 point for win so in all their games Carlsen amassed 22 and Caruana only got 4 through 8 draws. So Carlsen won 18 games lost none!! Insane 😁 thanks for watching
It’s called an anomaly.
great game indeed. Magnus has another game where he sacs a queen vs anish giri. it's maybe even better.
Yeah love that one I think I analysed it before but if not I’ll do so soon
uh...second best?
The Magnificent Magnus
Yeah such a beast! Thanks for watching, Gokulan

Take hold of yourself
😁
Brutal Magnus.
Yeah such a beast! Thanks for watching
From what I understand that any good chess program (like AlphaZero, Stockfish, Komodo, Houdini, Fritz, HIARCS, Rybka) from past 20 years would dominate any human player even Magnus, or that is not true?
It is true.
Yeah true big turning point was with Garry Kasparov and IBMs Deep Blue in 1997!
Even if he actually had 0.1% chance to win, he would need 1000 games to get first win. chance of losing all 1000 games with 0.1% win rate is 36,77%
Computers can play 1000 games in a day, human would need many years.
at one time i thought magnus was playing black
If the warriors beat the bucks by one point would the title of the headlines be Warriors DOMINATE bucks!! No! It would be a close game! Only in chess do you barely win and it’s called domination
Barely win? So you're saying MJ winning titles back to back isn't domination?
Anand's immortal in 2013 is a better game. Both are good, but Anand refuted an entire opening variation in that game.
Yeah that is literally my favourite game of all time inspired me to take up semi Slav which I still play , I’ll do a video on it soon! Thanks for watching, Neil
impressive
Thanks for watching!
Excelent commentary…
Thanks protoword! Cheers for watching and commenting as always
I hope they make a movie of him as a leader in a war that critical thinking would be nice to watch
Yeah haha
God damnit!!!!!!!!! 😲😧
This good
One player plays this way, he's worshiped...another plays this way and the worshiped player resigns. Whatever.
Is this a reference to his game with Hans at the Sinquefield Cup? I'm trying to follow sorry!
