He just blunders less in Endgame...he was completely outplayed in opening and middlegame..Also, Magnus's style is very dry but precise...his games are OPPOSITE the style of TAL for example Whose attacks were extraordinarily Sharp and TAL was also a Great Endgame player
Has a 'no-increment, but time chip (whatever the value and probably only a single one)' game ever been put through the paces? The added stress of being vigilant about when best to strategically burn it might result in some elevated drama.
Magnus is immense ...... this is the main reason he is in a different league. The small nuances in an ending belong to him lock stock and barrel. The 'young pretenders' can only play a two thirds of a game by comparison. He will ALWAYS beat anyone in a match over the board in long time controls. In this respect Naka or the others are not even close.
14:11 I've never seen an evaluation bar drop from 0.0 draw to -31 dead lost with a single move. That's insane. Have the rules changed? Thought you couldn't castle after being checked. I'm aware you can't castle out of check, but thought any check makes subsequent castles illegal.
I prefer dramatic than clickbait - I think the game delivers on the title! I never mislead, Hikaru was shaking his head constantly at how he messed this endgame up!
Great Game Hikaru played very well it looked like this would be his Game Magnus counterplay paid off for him Hikaru was not playing for a Draw he was playing for the Win if he were a bit more precise he would’ve had spoils go to the Victor tho all hail the chief Magnus Carlsen 😅
In my opinion, Hikaru is so much better than Magnus, but Hikaru always chokes against Magnus because he looks up to him and Magnus makes him extremely nervous. I wish they could play blindly where Hikaru was just going about playing without realizing it was Magnus, he would beat him I guarantee!
Hikaru outplayed him completely. Magnus just doesn't make game losing blunders...kind of boring, dry style , Nothing Like TAL...but effective vs humans...
@@user-ts2co4ov5h So you literally just admitted he got outplayed lmao. Am I speaking Chinese or is what I'm saying simple enough for you to understand? Outplayed literally means "played better." If Hikaru played better then he wouldn't have lost to Magnus, but he did. You can objectively look at one part of the game, but overall Magnus had a better game, in other words he was the better player. This is not a hard concept to grasp; you just need to take a step down for a second and get off of the Hikaru bandwagon, and stop being a fanboy for a second and just look at the simple facts. That being that Magnus won. Therefore, he outplayed Hikaru. Very simple. Don't make stupid, illogical, fanboy arguments because you are just making yourself just look like a moron.
This was always part of Chess analysis. It's the only way to know that move is good or bad by contrasting it to other options. Chess is always about selecting best move from lots of moves.
Great commentary and descriptions play by play. Well done

nothing more mind-boggling than that rook-pawn endgame.

Scotch is not Scottish but whisky, which gives the opening a very different meaning.
I really hope you're just joking.
Hikaru’s childhood opening was the Scotch! ☺️
Oh cool didn’t know that
Hikaru blew it in the middle game and tilted in the end game. Ouch.

Yeah you do say no increment games but it’s rare over the board because pieces flying all over the place otherwise !
Just the right skill level for commentary. Nice work!

Did magnus focus on the endgames the most or buy the most endgames books that’s why he soo good at them ?
I think because he didn't focus on opening theory or tactics but on position he learned to get better positions and them to grind better into winning.
What are you talking about . He couldn’t defeat either Karjakin or Caruana in classical chess in the WC
I wonder which engine he is using for the end game? LOL!

No, you could always castle after being checked, as long as you don't move your king (or the rook you want to castle with)
Magnus is the endgame MONSTER. No contest.
