    Thank you for this information. You were clear about safe amounts to supplement and clear about the level to reach toxicity. Please provide similar information for vitamins A, C, E and K, along with addressing the B complex issue. Most doctors seem to fear vitamin overdoses more than obesity, yet every elderly person who enters the hospital seems to be diagnosed with a vitamin deficiency of some sort.

    A very good video...As an older guy, I take 10,000 iu per day, but also take D3 with K2 to divert the D from soft tissues. Add some Zinc and Magnesium as well. When you get older, you need to add more, as you don't metabolize it as much. Also, if you have no gallbladder there is not as much bile to process the fat element.
    It all depends on age, condition, etc. Get your blood levels checked first.

      Hey SG, thanks for the suggestion. Vitamin D is fat-soluble so taking it with meals is important, specifically with a meal that contains fat. Being fat-soluble means that the intake of fat helps your body absorb the nutrient. As far as morning vs. night, there isn't enough evidence to suggest one is better than the other. Since taking it consistently is the most important thing, taking it in the morning with your breakfast is ideal as the routine usually triggers people to remember!

    Thanks for info! Should we’ve taking Vitamin D2 or D3. Isn’t Isn’t K2 an important supplement to take along with Vitamin D (2 and 3)? Many videos talk about Vit D but no mention of K2 to support the effectiveness of Vitamin D.

    • @Fitfatherproject
      @Fitfatherproject  4 года назад +3

      Hey SRhodes, thanks for writing in and great questions! Vitamin D2 is cheaper to produce so is found much more often in fortified foods. It is also found more in plant foods and if following a more comprehensive diet as we recommend, you will be getting plenty of plant foods! Vitamin D3 is synthesized through your skin and is much harder to get through your diet as the majority of us don't get enough of it from the most plentiful source: the sun. So we would recommend placing a higher emphasis on D3. Regarding Vit K2/D, they work in tandem to help with the absorption of calcium, not necessarily to help with the absorption of each individually. Plus, once again, if following our recommendations, you will be getting abundant Vitamin K through spinach so you should be covered in all aspects!

    • @Fitfatherproject
      @Fitfatherproject  4 года назад +13

      Hey AC, thanks for writing in. We recommend taking Vitamin D3 at about 5,000IU daily for 2 months, then dropping it down to 1,000-2,000IU/day for more maintenance levels moving forward. We don't recommend taking the 5,000IU daily continuously though if you did, you'd probably be safe as you'd need 40,000IU+ daily to reach toxicity levels. But at the end of the day, speaking with your doctor is your safest bet when it comes to supplementation.

    I have a level of 26 ng/ml of Vitamin D (the minimum sufficient is (30ng/ml).
    At the pharmacy they give me 600 I.U. to take, telling me that is the most I can take.
    Plus Vitamin D supplement diminishes the effect of thyroid medication that I take. so I guess I have to rise them as well to take vitamin D. How much is the minimum to raise your level to like 50ng/ml at least? Do I have to talk with the endocrinologist for Vitamin D advice??

  • @k14michael
    @k14michael 4 года назад +1

    I disagreed with the value of 20-30ng/ml as efficient.
    I think you have to get to at least 30ng/ml to be considered efficient.
    If by efficient you meant that you be just enough to keep you function somewhat normally then it’s ok.
    But if you meant to be healthy and striving then it would be around the range of 40-50ng/ml
    Around 60 mg/ml have been found to keep you cancer free.
    Some people are taking 1,000 to 2,000 iu per day and still get cancer because their blood vitamin D level is not high enough. They need to find out then take a higher amount of vitamin D such as 5,000 to 10,000 iu per day to get to the 60ng/ml.

  • @ParisFletcher

    It's probably not a good idea for someone with high metabolism to take suppliments because it messed me up a little, even only taking 5000 IU a day, I feel nauseous, had a slight feeling of not getting all that oxygen in my lungs, and hallucinated a dark flash once that look like a nerve connection of brain cells that lasted for 2-3 full seconds, I think people with high metabolisms were just not meant to take them, because even my father has high metabolism, took vitamin c pills and even that messed him up similarly to mine, the thing was that I felt perfectly healthy before, but I did get worried that I was taking too little for my body.
    The first 2 days after taking the pills, my excrements were more solidified, and then reverted back like how it was prior before that after 3-4 days, then noticed overdose symptoms, I haven't noticed any more improvements when taking the pills, not even enlightened mood, I even thought that "oh I'm not just upset, I just vitamin d deficient", now I truely know it is an underlying problem of emotions I experience from other people.
    I do not know if this is concrete proof for people that have high metabolisms that have this issue specifically, but maybe if you're a person with high metabolism or someone you know has one or maybe potentially give info to other people, it might be considerable info.

    The schedule I follow is 15,000 I U a day in December , January and February. 10,000 IU March ,April and May . 5,000 IU June , July , and August. In September I start the increase back to 10, 000 IU through November. This has kept my blood levels at 60ng. A long with vitamin D3 I take 200 mcg of vitamin k2 which takes the calcium out of the arteries and moves it into the bones. This works well for me at my age and fat level in NE Ohio.
    However, everyone should have their vitamin D level check with a blood test alone with their annual checkup.

      Hey Diane, thanks for writing in and great question! You sure can take both together as they work really well in tandem. Vitamin D helps with blood calcium levels while Vitamin K helps ensure proper calcification in your bones, as well as ensures too much isn't built up in your soft tissue. So taking them together is a great way to reap benefits all around.

      Hey Shreyas, thanks for writing in and great question! We recommend consulting with your physician as only they know you and your situation best. They can also provide a basic blood lipid panel test to determine your current Vitamin D levels and help decide how much you should be taking. Best of luck!

    Hey idk about IU so can u tell me how much each maxi-D pill have IU?😀

    • @Fitfatherproject
      @Fitfatherproject  3 года назад

      Hey Dazai, thanks for writing in! The amount of D3 IU you'll find will vary, depending on the brand and serving size. But overall, we recommend taking around 5000IU for a couple months, dropping down to 1000-2000IU daily for maintenance thereafter. But as always, please consult with your doctor before taking any supplements.

    My vit D is only 50ųg. How much i should take and its chewable with xylitol. Does excess vit D cause skin hypersenitivity? Like it goes very red if touch or vit A does that 800ųg? I also take zinc and vit C.

    I have kept my D levels between 90 ng/ml and140 ng/ml for eight years now and I just don't get sick anymore and I feel great. I have had only two mild colds in the past 8 years and all of the health problems that I had before getting my D level up went away only months after getting enough vitamin D. From my experience, I think that the blood levels that you are recommending are too low. I think the best vitamin D level for most people should be between 80 and 110 ng/ml. The institutions never do studies for levels like this so they never see the benefits at these higher levels.

    Thank you for that information. I was prescribed 50,000 IU by a doctor which scared me. I felt that was an extreme amount to take even weekly. Do you agree? and also read some horrific reviews about it. I decided to take OTC vitamin D3, 2,000 IU once a day.

      The kind that doctors prescribe is vitamin D2 which is inferior to D3. It's absorption rate is lower.

    @Fit Father Project Your Vitamin D3 is wrong. There is no research showing calcification of the blood for Vitamin D3 levels below 600IU's per day. If there is research please post the links to your research.
