- Filmed entirely on location in the UK, this American made for TV musical version of Oscar Wilde's famous play, is absolutely hilarious. Or maybe just plain bonkers? Either way it is a joy to watch, and is presented here, I'm assured, as it was shown on TV all those years ago. The production is rather strange, the editing distinctly odd , the sound is out of sinc, (despite efforts to correct it) and adverts, and station identifications pop up all over the place to interrupt the flow. But it's a truly delightful film, very amusing, and well worth watching. And it does make sort of sense in the end . . .just about.
Thank you for posting this... I haven't seen it since it aired.. I loved that the commercials were not edited out.. ;)
Thanks so much, small faces fan?
The. Canterville ghost
I've always loved growing up with this movie, always on the tube.
I never heard of this tv show. Now I know why.😉. I enjoyed the commercials, all the ads on tv now are for poisonous drugs.

Thanks Vinnie. I'll take a look at this. It looks like you did a great job with the review , and thanks for the credit on the notes. Can I still take you up on the offer with a copy of your synced version of this movie?. I sent you an e-mail to your gm account. Brian
Peter Noone fan thanks you for posting
Do you by chance have any more episodes of Stage 67, such as Olympus 7-0000 or I'm Getting Married?
Hi Shawn. I'm afraid not. It was purely by chance that I got hold of this to be honest
Thank you! Love it. No it's definitely not the classic that the Sondheim musical that also aired on Stage 67, Evening Primrose, is, but it's fun. Now do you have the Bacharach/David Stage 67 musical, On the Flipside? I've only ever seen (bonkers) clips.
Hi my friend. I'd never heard of it to be honest but it seems to be available?

Much appreciated!@@1Seafolly
The best version of this move was the one with Charles Laughton.
I never saw it but I'm sure you are right. Can't have been as bad and therefore as good as this one
It definitely is. Margaret O'Brien is very memorable in that one! The story, the acting, everything was wonderful.
I had hoped this one would be good because it's so hard to find good movies with Natalie Schafer in them. And the one I saw air on television in the 1990s was equally terrible, with Patrick Stewart's performance as its only saving grace in a cast full of people who sounded like they were still in a rehearsal of that cheesy-dialogue adaptation.
Would you show one of the other versions
I've seen 5 versions of this classic film, loved 'em all - couldn't stand 2 minutes of THIS drivel!
Hey, it's "Lovey"!
Lol This is cute... Cheesy but cute.
The Canterville Ghost 1966 Cast
It's helpful, but can't we get
its Hindi version please
Seafolly House, there's no private message link on your profile page, but I took this video and corrected the sound sync issues. If you'll email me (vinnierattolle at gmail.com), I'll be happy to send it to you.
Well, I stand corrected. I do not like every version of the Canterville ghost 😵💫🙉 I do feel like buying fabric now for some weird reason …
I got twenty minutes in and would like my medal now
Not my cup of tea but I did have a strange craving to go out and buy stockings….
Good
this is dreadful! and watched the whole thing so bad it is good
Hi Jack. I think you nailed it in just a few words. It is dreadful, but so dreadful that it has an endearing quality to it. Thanks for watching. Brian.
I got to dreadful, I haven’t moved on from there yet.
Wow I've never seen this version. Sorry not my favorite version
Holy Christ is this Really Sir Michael Redgrave and Douglas Fairbanks Jnr? Hardly The Lady Vanishes and Gunga Din is it? This is absolute rubbish.
glad you like it
What an amazingly awful idea.
Quite possibly the worst rendition of all time of this classic story.
yes but good innit?
I wanted to watch this just to see Natalie Schafer, but this was the dullest Canterville Ghost movie I've ever seen, and I've seen several. By the time I was halfway through I couldn't stand it anymore and started skipping through to see just Schafer's scenes. The same thing happened to me in the '90s when I was excited about the airing of a new Canterville Ghost movie with Patrick Stewart as the ghost; he was the only good part and the rest was garbage. If anybody wants a GOOD Canterville ghost movie, the best one is the 1944 one.
