I knew a DMU Driver on the Eastern region in the 1980s on these units ,he`d get on the unit about 10 mins before leaving , and sit there watching all the enthusiasts come in to sit behind the driver and get settled ,getting all their cameras and the like ready etc etc.All excited about watching the view ahead .Then about a minute before the departure he would drop all the night blinds down!! Even in the middle of the day!! Complete bastard he was!!
