As a photographer it's a bit sad to say that I am not anymore looking at photos on instagram, but what I like landscapes photography vlogs. What a year full of amazing shots, CONGRATS !!!
Not gonna lie, got a little teary with that waterfall rainbow image. The Earth is so beautiful. Thank you for capturing her in such a special way. Happy New Year.
Your work stands on its own as being impressive, but the thing that really blows my mind is that you can capture these singular images, WHILE devoting so much consideration to filming your beautiful videos! Not only do you have to carry all the extra equipment on long days outdoors, but you also have to split your attention between the two media. I honestly have no idea how you do it, but I'm grateful that you do. Your channel is an inspiration.
Thank you so much Colin, I REALLY appreciate that! Honestly thats the hardest part by far, its so much extra gear in field and stuff to worry about. Not to mention how long it takes to edit the videos together. Anyone who makes in-field videos has my utmost respect! I think sometimes when people watch these videos its easy to forget the work that goes in, one video might take me 40 hours + depending on filming/editing. But I do really love to make them, I do not earn a great deal of money from ads, so this is more of a passion project then anything else.
@@MichaelShainblum Unfortunately, one of the common signs of a great video is that the audience will forget the effort that goes into making it look so effortless. But a lot of your viewers are into photography and cinematography, so I think a fair number of us can appreciate just how much work you put in to bring us these wonderful escapes into nature. I have to say, I'm actually a little relieved to hear that you do still find it difficult to manage everything at once. It makes me feel a little more hopeful that I can someday build up that skill as well!
I have watched all of your vlogs and I have to say you are a very talented photographer. I particularly enjoy your abstract images. I look forward to more in 2023.
What I have always loved about your photography, Michael, is your ability to see the beauty in the intimate details. I would argue that only one of your top 10 photos-the SF seascape-would be considered a "grand(er)" landscape photo. I'm heading to Death Valley next week and hope that I can come away with a "keeper" or two. All the best in 2023!
Yes Happy New Year to you Michael! As a person coming back to my photography roots you are all inspiring. Your soft gentle voice and calm outlook is perfect. Keep it up and I look forward to what you bring us this year!
O man, what to say. Just soft friendly commentary, thoughts, ambitions. And just really staggering imagery. And for as long as I've come along on your journeys, I, and I'd bet most your viewers, could easily remember 10 OTHER images that would be the best - you are just such and awesome photographer. But you can tell the best stories of your experiences and adventures, and I am just really so glad you do. Your personal style and character are just winning.
Hi Michael, it's my greatest pleasure to find your channel in 2022 and I enjoyed your videos a lot. I'm super looking forward to your Madeira Island videos, as I also just visited there last week. All the best in 2023!
Love your videos Michael, your videos where the first ones I every watched about 3 years ago now and have given me loads of inspiration for getting out and taking images. Keep up the stunning work.
Thanks Michael, awesome shots. Actually found you on Gavins vids, so funny, and a Happy New year to you. Looking forward to seeing your Photography in 2023 and beyond
Happy New Year Michael! So inspirational and I love how you convey the story of each experience. Looking forward to your new adventures in the upcoming year!
Happy New Year Michael! The body of work you've produced the past year is just amazing! Eye candy for sure. Wishing you all the best in the year ahead. You are always inspirational and your videos are therapy!
Ten breathtaking images, Michael. Hard to put them in any preferential order, but the first waterfall image at the end (#9 in the full list) is absolutely amazing. Looking forward to more of your spectacular work in 2023.
Love seeing your thoughtful reflection on your photos from the year. Watching your videos has really inspired me to explore local in San Diego in 2022 and helped me to get many of my proudest photos. So excited to see what you have planned for 2023!
All images are exceptional. You're a true talent. Thank you for sharing your journeys and your photos. I also enjoy your delivery in your vlogs. Happy new year and looking forward to following you on your upcoming adventures.
Wow, as much as I love all of these images, my favorites are the dancing trees. I prefer the 35 mm version because the larger, darker tree is more striking as a focal point.
WOW!!! I love the 35mm film shot. That's incredible man! The waterfall at the end I really like the one you kept showing but my favorite is the far right one. Excellent job! I can't wait to see what you capture this year.
Oh Happy New Year Michael. Not only are you an incredible photographer, and videographer, you are also a magical wordsmith. Being able to put into words what you saw and felt is a beautiful skill, and just another reason I love your channel. All the best for 2023 and I look forward to watching your journey - so inspiring!
Thank you Michael for the endless amounts of inspiration you create through your VLOGs and images. Living just north of you in Vancouver, BC, you continually provide new ideas for not only locations to shoot that are easily accessible to me, but also techniques to try when out in the field. Your content is by far some of the best on RUclips not only in its quality but also for its educational content. If I could be greedy, I'd love to see a bit more post processing. I've purchased some of your courses and found those to be very helpful as well. If you want to keep the post processing insights for the educational tutorials, from a business standpoint, that makes total sense, but as I said, greedily, I'd love to see more of that side of your work. Thanks for all of the education over the year and all the best in 2023. Can't wait to see more of your work!
I adore your work, extraordinary, Michael ! Have a great weekend. I'd wish to see these interesting images with my own naked eyes. Sadly, i don't have the time and money to travel the world, to photograph all my life those places...it's just a dream since childhood. Great to see some photographers are still living this dream for real. Amazing.
Fantastic series of images, great to look back on those Videos again and you in depth thought process on your shoots is inspiring to us all ! I have taken note when you shot the waterfalls and took some close in shots myself. Thank you and happy new year from New Zealand !
Michael I have really enjoyed your channel this year. I look forward to your videos each time they are posted. You do some wonderful work that is very inspiring. You seem to make it look easy but I know its not. I enjoyed your video of Death Valley and I am heading there myself in later this month. I look forward to seeing more of your work this year.
It was fun reviewing the year with you Michael and once again seeing your unique work (Iceland waterfall rainbow - oh my!). For the Fanal trees I think I'll pick the Sony A1 shot for mystery and depth. Looking forward to the entire Madeira video. Happy New Year!
Hi Michael, really nice look back to 2022 and pleased to see that some of your Iceland shots made your Top 10 (especially the rainbow waterfall plus bird!). You asked which image from Madeira was best, I prefer the Sony A1 image with the small tree off to the left - it suggests more of a story than just the 4 trees grouped together. I'm very much looking forward to seeing what you capture in 2023 and "Happy New Year" to you and your family.
Great shots, as usual! I’d vote for the wide angle shot of the trees in Madeira. In addition, I particularly like the waterfall shot with reflected sunlight in Oregon. Your work with the 100-400 is the inspiration for putting that lens at the top of my list for 2023 acquisitions. Looking forward to the coming year watching your videos!
Great work all around, and shows your tremendous vision in how you can make fascinating images from everything that nature has to give you! And thanks for reminding me to check out your Death Valley episodes as I'm going to head out there for a few days in late March or early April. Looking forward to more to come in '23.
Some great images there, Michael. Big vistas aside, I also love some of your more esoteric pictures - the Death Valley sand dunes in particular, but also the lava dragon and waterfalls. Takeaway: put the 100-400 on and go in close to find something different. Thanks.
I wanted to say this in the lava video and I will say it now. The lava Dragon you are seeing, for me it's more like Poseidon (I don't know if there's a lava god) rising from the wave with something heavy in hand and throwing it. If you look closely in the middle of the photo you can see the head, crown, eyes and beard. But that's just what I'm seeing. Awesome work as usual :)
9:21 I like the one taken with the Sony A1 more. That little tree on the left gives the image more depth. Also, the lower contrast looks better imo. It provides a more relaxed mood. Anyway, I love your artwork. 😍
Happy New Year Michael. All fantastic pictures, so tough to pick any favorites when they are all bangers. When are you putting them together into a book?
Great video, Michael! Each photo you showed was more impressive than the one before. Of the 2 tree photos, I prefer the composition you shot with your Sony. I REALLY like the silliness of the waterfall, 2nd to last photo. Happy New Year!!
