I'm looking forward to your review! I've been using both the Duotone Slick and Slick SLS recently and I think the biggest difference (at least for me) between the Slick and the Slick SLS is the stability and control over backwinding exhibited by the SLS. Upwind angle on the SLS also seems a little better. I decided on the SLS over the RS because of the full "mini" carbon boom but I think the RS has some potential longterm advantages. I'm very interested in your thoughts. Up until recently I thought kiting was the biggest influence in wind wing design but now it seems that windsurfing sail design and materials are making an impact -- which is a very good thing.
Not sure i like the valve system for two reasons. 1) You have to inflate the two chambers separately. 2) If you lose the valve and don't have a spare your sessions done. Interesting use of xPly in the trailing edge and will it improve the longevity of the wing from stretch. Or will it just weigh the wing down when flagged out?
Hey Dom on a side note can you do a review of your Appletree boards - if you have, -apologies not seen it in brief search. I dont know if you have used the Jazz also or just the slice? My main point of interest is weight and handling. I wing a Fanatic 95ltr skywing beginner/ intermediate at 85kg and prone a 37ltr appletree v pro better than i wing. The Fanatic is great if a bit boxy in the rails but just feels a tad too heavy for my liking - im looking for a convincing alternative! Was keen to know if you had comparable board to your apple slice I am expecting the slice to be super light and stiff but trying to weight up the potential gains over the Fanatic before committing. Which Takuma mast do you run with your Kujira now? I see there is a new carbon mast. My wet weight with big board is just enough to create more flex in the alu mast than desired so again wondering how the new mast might stack up compared to its predecessors Those Takuma valves are same as on the Blade kites, super handy but there is always that one session where that particular pump nozzle is in a different kite bag to the one I took to the beach.😫 Thanks for the vids you are my trusted go-to pre-purchase advisor! Now the wing choice is 8m CWC which are going up in price daily or the D-Lab 6.5 it seems. Out in Taiwan at the moment it looks like an 8m CWC from mainland is more around the £1000 mark so £300 cheaper, but now frothing on the D-Lab thanks haha
Here's the review I did on the Appleslice v2 wing board. ruclips.net/video/IVGzc7xWQ2M/видео.html The 60ltr is 5kg exactly (deck pad included) and I was told the 50ltr is 4.5kg and the 40ltr is 4kg. I haven't used the latest fanatic boards so I can't say how they compare I'm afraid. I would describe the rails of the Appleslice as being quite boxy as well, but if your idea of boxy is the same as mine I can't say either 🤣 but what I can say is that the Appleslice works great. Super stable, really good glide for takeoff, beautifully balanced and super strong construction. Also because its made of closed cell foam you don't have to worry about the board delaminating in the sun or taking on water if you crack the carbon shell while on the water (which I've done by smashing the handle of the D-Lab onto the nose of the board by mistake 😩. I've only ever used the aluminium kujira mast and also have noticed quite a bit of flex, although only when using the 1440. I was going to order the new Takuma carbon mast but since Axis released the Advance fuses I've decided to go over to Axis 100% now. Their quality and range is unmatched. I'll miss the kujiras but the Axis range is so good now and with the ART foils on an advance fuse I really think their performance is right up there with the best foils, even for surfing. If you'll be foiling in sub 10 knots then the 8m CWC is the smart choice, but from 10 knots and over the 6.5 D-Lab is the best of those two. Hard to find though and very expensive 😔 Hope I've covered everything🤙
Ride the Slice V2 in 40 L and it is 3.991 kg. I tried the 37 V pro prone as well but found the Slice way easier to start for winging, much more stable. The new carbon mast looks awesome, had one in my hands but in the meantime I’ve had a great experience with the No Limitz mast on the 1095 Kujira and the Pedigo tail. Just got the RS…
@@dominichoskyns9091 Many thanks I do love the Appletree boards, your slice review popped up when i opened YT homepage next cheers. Interesting I have always admired the Axis product and quality but I am so invested in Takuma now (4 foils from them) aargh! For my level I think i will stick with for now and keep progressing. I believe the new Takuma carbon mast is not that much more £££ than the no limitz solution so may try that out but would be reassuring to know if it is definitely stiffer than the alu, if anyone knows would be appreciated?! Definitely covered everything thank you. I still need more power than most so no idea what foiling in 10 knots would be like! 17knots on a 5m is my lower limit for now 🤣 realistically the D-Lab has taken over prime spot for me after seeing your vid, valuable insight. Keeping us stoked at work many thanks.
@@raymondwitvoet Tell me I am wrong, I had believed the no limitz to be a bit of a wider, slower mast how is that with the rapid 1095 do you feel the drag? I have the Kane tails with Kujira. Love the quality of the RS. the 3 best prone foilers at my local ride the RS, with appletree pro!
@@waterbowman5307 I don't think there is a right or wrong. The NoLimitz is really stiff. MacKiteboarding did a review on it. It's actually quite thin with just under 17mm. It's not wide either. I like it, pumps so much better than stock aloy. KD13R just in there, gonna test it soon.
The adapter and dump valve are the same ones that Ensis uses right? From your video, you make it seem foreign but I believe both are used by another leading manufacturer. Curious if they are the same.
Foreign to me but yes, good all the same. I hadn't seen them before so I wanted to explain how to use them for others like me who hadn't seen them either.
The valve is a Liquid Force MaxFlow valve from their kites that has been licenced to Takuma and Ensis. Been around for a few years, pretty well proven by now
@@mikesiddells3211 thanks for the info, that's good to know. Having used them a few times now I can see they have some really good points, but the one potentially bad thing is that because the opening of the valve is so big, when it's open sand can easily blow into them which can be fatal for the bladders. As long as you are aware of this and take steps to keep the covers on them it'll be fine, but it could cause issues when deflating and rolling up the wing. Just something to be aware of I suppose
Great video, i,m from a kite background and the connecter you have is a liquid force 1 strut kite connecter

I agree, the influence of windsurfing in wing design could be really exciting 👍
Hi Dominic,
Thanks for the first glance! No one pump? Curious to see how it feels on the water! Cheers, mate!
Hi, thanks for the reveiw, can you tell the weight of the 5.1 ?

Great points. I hope to answer these and more really soon!

Use your little finger to flip closed the wee tab/membrane in the valve before you pump it up to eliminate the big sound when you remove the adapter.
Thanks, I'll try that 👍

Please make ur video landscape mode
You are actually supposed to inflate the strut first.
Tip for this wing: remove the fiber stiffeners when overpowered, the wing will behave a lot better.
Leave the batons in
Is there a reason?
@@dominichoskyns9091 Nope, it’s just not necessary to take them out
Mine shipped with them in, so assumed I'd never need to take them out?!
@@solentfoiler5969 yeah so did mine but I'm really asking if it causes any problems to take them out each time
Nice Video! Is there any Information, how long the buttons are with the 6.1?
