Tribulation Prepper this is what is known as drop shipping the seller copies the item from a trade outlet lists it on ebay with a margin of profit for himself. The problem with this is the seller has no control whatsoever over the product and the shipping. It's very common and people make lots of money doing this without handling the product.
There's a hell of a lot (cant remember how to check for to see if its legit rather than just the price of them) 1TB sized memory sticks, rather actually is a bit between the storage medium and the USB connector which goes back to the memory chip but has been changed, essentially they don't register about how much data is on the chip so essentially will keep filling up the memory chip continually so old data will get written over
Another sellers scam ... buy it now for $8 (leather briefcase made in China) you click the buy it now button and it asks you to choose a color... you click brown, and suddenly the price jumps to $35
It's actually not a scam. It's like half of one. They do have the item in the drop down but they put a lesser of the two or X to get you to click on the page over the others. It's a honest seller page just testing the buyers attention to detail
The secret donation scam: I caught this one (as a buyer) and complained to eBay. I found a listing for a computer at an excellent price. But in small print at the bottom of the listing was a disclosure that the listing is not to _purchase_ the computer, but to _donate_ money to an allegedly hard-up student so he himself could buy it for schoolwork. I am not aware of how popular this scam is, but do watch out for it.
I bidded for a Yacht on eBay and won the item. Next day I was emailed by seller that somebody had outbidded me AFTER the auction by £100 so I gave up. Later on the seller emailed me again that he had been let down by buyer and if I paid just another £50 I could have Yacht. I don't think so !
Worst scams for me, as a vintage toy collector are: Selling restored toys as original. Selling something like lego as "vintage" when all the parts are modern. Fake boxes. Fake stickers. Modified toys to look like a rarer version. Making up their own variants and selling them as original.
Found of Mini Cooper old style. It was nice, the picture was taken in front of this house of the kind of like a mansion. The seller said they needed to sell it 4 a surgery for their son. Red flag. From the looks of the house behind the car they did not need to sell the Cooper for something like that. I went along with it. After supposedly winning I got an ebay email saying congratulations, and wanted me to sign in from the email. I recognized it as being a phishing email and forwarded it to eBay who confirmed it Etc. And then the guy wanted me to MoneyGram money to California which was a completely different location from where the car was.... I strung the guy on for a couple days saying I'm getting the money together..... I wasted his time and and then finally told him to go f off
Wow, never thought about a seller listing and selling a picture of the item and not the actual item. Some sellers and buyers are so crooked now. I stopped buying and selling on eBay too many crooks.
This has been going on forever on eBay. It happens most often when the seller is selling more than one of the same (used) item. They don't want to photograph each one, so they just photograph the best one.
I stopped using ebay years ago when I discovered a seller that had the same "buyer" who would always increase bids but then retract their bid once they hit the other bidder's maximum. I assume it was the seller's second account pushing up bids to the max. I looked through all of their sales history and yep! Same "buyer" always pushing up the bids and retracting! I hope ebay has fixed that loophole.
Always good to ask questions to the seller. Often bad seller will never take the time to reply them, so it's great sign right there that you're dealing with a potential scam.
Another scam I have witnessed several times recently on eBay regarding photos is listing a stock photo rather than the actual photo of the item. Sometimes if you message a seller about this they will refuse to send or update with a real photo saying "its new" or just ignore the buyer completely.
As a seller myself , i post my items as accurately as possible, if i make a mistake i agree to refund or fix the issue! COMMUNICATION IS KEY! But i have seen some scammy people that would sell highly sought after items that are fake/ replicas, like SUPREME, LOUIS VUITTON, PRADA ETC, And they post new and all that info and the price is like killer good! And in the description they post PRICE REFLECTES AUTHENTICITY! So in otherwords if the deal is to good to be true it probably is fake! ALWAYS DO YOUR HOMEWORK WHEN BUYING online!!!!!!
An expensive item I was suspicious about a famous actress's costume jewellery supposedly worn during the filming of a '60s TV series. I bought it but I couldn't see it being worn at all in the series. I queried it with the seller he said it would have cost even more if it could be seen in any particular episode.
2:45 The postage scam. I'm an eBay seller primarily selling used auto parts. Often, a buyer who can't figure out what's wrong with his car will order a part from me in hopes that it will solve his problem. I'll ship the part with free shipping. The "free" shipping is actually paid for by myself. Let's say it's $10. The buyer will install the part on his car and realize that it doesn't make a difference. In order to avoid paying for the return shipping, he'll claim that the part doesn't work. I'll pay another $10 to have it shipped back, meanwhile the buyer will take another guess at what seems to be causing his problem and order another part from another seller. What the buyer is doing is experimenting with different parts and each experiment costs the sellers $20 plus they receive bad seller ratings because according to the buyers, they're selling defective parts. That's why I stopped offering "free" shipping. If I used to sell a part for $200 including "free" shipping, I now sell the same part for $100 plus $100 shipping. It's too bad, but eBay has put me into this position where I have to defend myself because eBay won't defend me against all of those "experiments" going on out there. My parts aren't used for experiments anymore.
Everybody knows the biggest scam is padding shipping costs. Example a stamp was for sale for 5 dollars shipping cost 35 dollars import cost 10 dollars. Alot of sellers charge too much for shipping hence why i always send the heavy shipping sellers pictures and info of other places that the same items can be got for much less shipping they then get annoyed that somebody has cheaper shipping costs but isnt selling for maximum profit but selling fairly. I stick to 3 sellers and have spent alot on there sites and they are fair. There are too many greedy sellers who lose out for a quick big sale rather than hundreds of small sales. Ah well there loss.
You forgot the most recent sinister one; the seller sends a box filled with rubbish to an address near yours with the same/similar postal code or town. The item is picked up by the person they sent it to who obviously just disposes of it and your tracking shows delivered to your location as Royal Mail doesn’t require an entire address and it makes it look like one of your family members could’ve just signed for it and the box has the correct weight on the confirmation receipt. Good luck convincing eBay/PayPal you really didn’t get your package and you deserve a refund! Also with no.3 if something goes wrong you’re supposed to get an entire refund including postage so no buyer should be out postage costs unless it’s buyer remorse
The "box of rocks scam" ....hopefully they cheaped out if a heavy item and you can show the shipping weight does not jibe....this scam works both ways of course with BUYERS returning box o rocks and then having their tracking number to show they returned it ....So far has not happened to me as either buyer of seller ....worst thing for me has been my sold items supposedly damaged in shipping ....clever shitty way for a buyer to force a refund because he/she changed mind or found better deal. ....my guess anyway ....I sold a PERFECT truck tailgate and they wanted to return ..I said sorry no returns so they opened a case and took pictures ...not just one dent but it seriously looked like it jumped up and down on and hit with a hammer ....It was well packed with help of UPS too ...NO WAY it was "shipping damage" ....but guess what....they simply clicked return and shipped her back to me and got full refund...SUCKED! Then UPS would not make good....though finally after months they did a partial claim adjustment so at least I did not lose money ...a lot of trouble and stress for NOTHING
I recently had that scam pulled on me. I ordered a GoPro and the seller shipped a “dummy box” to a nearby “dock”. Of course, I never received the item. I’ll report it to eBay, but I’m probably done dealing with them. Like you said, try getting a refund after the item shows it’s been “delivered”. Hopefully karma (or God) catches up with them, while I’m out $207.00. It’s a very wicked world and getting worse every day.
To add more to #3: If you decide you no longer want to keep the item, you not only lose out on the original shipping cost, but you also have to pay an additional shipping cost to send it back to them, as well as pay a possible restocking fee if it's included in the listing!!!
You forgot the change in auction time! I bid on an item that had six days to end and the seller ended it within a few minutes of me casting my bid. Pay up!
I was caught by the expensive postage cost for a watch, £25 shipping how did this happen i didnt look at the small print usually i have been charge around £4 to ship watches . the other scam was showing cod liver oil capsules the advert showed 90 capsules but 30 arrived i did complain to ebay , its a case of buyer beware. It is so easy to get caught !
Enlarged photo of miniature item is another common eBay SCAM. Just bought 10 tarp clips that must be for a tarp on a Doll house as they will not fit a normal tarp. total length of clip is 1 inch!!!
Its not an eBay scam but could be easily done here. I purchased a computer, they send glasses, I contact seller they send out another order (which gets lost), in the mean time I have received a parcel (more junk) which I have no idea as it is sent from a different address. I put in a complaint for a refund about two days before the close, they announce the tracking number on the junk, most people would have tossed the package by this time, PayPal have no where to protest the junk package and I am out of pocket. Try to inform PayPal about this scan that is being used and all you get are bot generated answers So the scam is still out there to be used.
@@fredstead5652 Good, i'm trying to buy a graphic card for 70$ and i'm afraid i could get scammed. The seller has 95% recommendations and 8000 sells but i'm still worried.
I'm here because I won a retron 5 "plus extras" in an auction but he only included one extra item. I paid because I won but he ship the system without the hdmi plus the extras and I message him telling him that that he didn't include all items and he said that he did and now he is saying that if I ship I need to ship everything and same box? How tf will I do that if he didn't put all items? He said he would call ebay when he receives it right away. Imma just take the 25$ lost instead of shipping cause the guy had no feedback claiming his a new seller
Hello, I'm not really sure if this is scam or not. I just order an headphone on Ebay, and three days later I check the listing and there is nothing show on there. Usually I check all my purchases in purchase panel but the item I just ordered is not there. So I went to help and contact page on Ebay. It showed the item and includes the tracking number. I went on check the item's tracking number and I notice the date in which it is scan by USPS is seven days earlier my purchased day. I'm now convince myself that I hot scammed. But I still not 100%sure
Lately the seller will say your item has been delivered but it hasn't. Remember to always call Ebay and report all the stinky situation because lately some sellers are just scammers and getting 2 , 5 , 7 , 10 , 20 dollars from us and by doing it to a several people a month they are making a lot of money . ALWAYS REPORT THE NASTY SELLER
My spouse is more vulnerable to "missing information" scams on eBay, although there have been times when I've been careless myself. Asking questions early & often helps! As to shipping, I won't bid on items where the shipping is way out of proportion to what calculated shipping would be. (I charge calculated shipping + $1 handling/package, and still get complaints about high shipping -- but I refund the difference if I've overestimated the shipping charge, which is usually a pleasant surprise to the buyers getting the partial refund.)
I never got scammed, but I have gotten items with very minor defects but were no big deal to me. Been buying used for years, even in purchases above $400
And another thing. My experiences buying on ebay has so overwhelmingly positive. I like to thank all you awesome sellers. You guys are great. I appreciate what you do.
I bidded on a wallet and won. I was so excited. The seller (Emily Brand located in japan) sent me a completely different wallet. I was pissed!!!! Tried contacting them several times. After 2 days, I asked ebay to step in. I uploaded photos. I figured my case was open & shut. Ebay dragged their feet for almost 3 weeks, then decided to rule in my favor, but saw that I had opened up a case for the same seller on paypal. So ebay closed my case. 2 days later, Emily Brand posted the same wallet I bidded on as a "buy it now" option for $40 bucks more than what I paid for. Paypal refunded my money and told me to keep the wallet and explained that the company Emily Brand is a very popular seller on eBay and they really didn't want to give me the wallet I bidded on because they were hoping to get more money for it. Please read seller reviews before bidding it helps. And yes I'm new to eBay.
Another tip, don’t buy items with promo photos (as if photos from official website or ads) and not the actual photo that someone took in their living room. If you sell something, can’t you take a picture of it instead of googling in on the internet?...
A tip for everybody. When buying do a refined search for nearest distance first. This will weed out a lot of scams. As the guy in the video says it's important to know where the buyer is. Always check the feedback. Thank you for this video. I did not know about the extra shipping costs & that the seller only has to refund the item price & not the shipping price. Thank you. Ps-When i have bought from places like China & Japan i have had to wait between 6-14 weeks to receive the item. I think a lot of people just forget about the item & the seller never sends it. I regularly go through my purchase history every week to chase up late purchases. Great video-Thank you very much. Subscribed definitely & will share!!!
When I began selling on eBay almost three years ago, I bought enough bubble wrap to last two years. The quality was good then, but now when you order a very large roll of several hundred feet (700 ft), you don't get the full amount (they figure you won't unroll and measure all that bubble wrap), the bubbles are not fully inflated and it's hard to find the perforation line. It takes forever to get to you, which makes me believe it's coming from China. I wouldn't mind paying more for quality, but what if I pay more but get the same low-quality bubble wrap?
In general these days it is best to avoid EBAY all togeather. It is the wild wild west there. I have not purchased a used item there in the last 5 years that was accuratly described. Now I am comming accross "New" items from so called brick and mortar retailers that are continualy being misrepresented. If there is a problem you may get your money back but are NEVER compensated for your wasted time, and aggrivation. Amazon ALWAYS has your back and fixes issues instantly. The last thing I want to do is vet a fricken Ebay seller. Not at all interested in all that work and risk. I am just offended at what i have had to deal with at times with Ebay.OFFENEDED!!! At my age i NEVER forget these things and know how much my commerce is worth. Shop where you are respected.
Thanks for making both the buyer and seller scams on eBay vids. Fortunately, most sellers and buyers are honest. I recently returned an item that was sold not as described and it was an honest mistake by the seller and she refunded my money as soon as she received it back. I bought an item outside the system and the seller trusted me (it was not a scam on my part) and everything was OK.
the postage segment is wrong. If an item is defective, not listed right, or what ever. The seller must refund the whole transaction and issue a return label. Regardless of whatever disclaimer he lists. Only in cases of "listed as parts or repair" or "Non-working" is the buyer stuck. The reason sellers used to sell things for a dollar, but put $100 shipping. That was to circumvent ebay seller fees. You only paid a percentage of the item value. But these days you pay the percentage on the whole transaction. Roughly 10% of item AND shipping. Plus another 3% to PP.
Currently having problems with a car parts seller group selling un-stocked items through multiple Ebay accounts. "More than 10 available" is stated on the item listings, yet they actually can even get the parts to ship them out. Then they go onto try and get more money by suggesting one of their other listings to provide the parts that they can't get to fulfill the original purchased listing. Makes you want to pull out ones hair.
Your video is misleading in regards to the postage scam. If an item is not as described the seller has to refund the full purchase price as well as return shipping. So the seller is out the total price plus postage and return postage. Scam buyers take advantage of this because naive sellers will just give them their money back without making them return the item to avoid paying return postage. eBay will almost always side with buyers now unless the packaging process is video documented (which I just started doing for that very reason.) eBay protects buyers much more now than they used to. Which is a good thing. However, unfortunately this has opened the door to many more buying scams.
Etown Vintage Buys totally agree with you. In fact this whole vid is misleading in one way or another. In fact as in modern eBay world where the sellers are held by their balls hanging upside down there no such thing as seller scam!
vinie pooh I bought a desk for a computer and after hitting order 2 minutes it was processed and shipped guess what I really got a got dam laptop stand and this was my first purchase on ebay and already been duped bitch then refunded me $3 after I paid $20 then their account don't exist anymore so I can't return the fucking shit
one thing I hate about some ebay sellers is the old " Item was working last time It was used , but "I cant test now as I dont have the plug" yeah right, lol Oh & I wish that bidders id`s were not hidden , as its now really difficult to prove shill bidding,
I remember a particular seller, "ren_sells_stuff", trying to sell me used a used item as new. The VHS items were obviously RESEALED and one of the VHS tapes needs rewinding. Avoid "ren_sells_stuff" at all costs. Yes, I do mean to post the scammer's username.
I was looking at a £350 Sony a6000 camera on eBay. They wrote down all the details of the Sony a6000 until I realised that the picture showed a CANON camera, with a Canon body, strap, and battery. I'm very lucky I noticed that because the seller put the camera face-down for the picture.
We won a customer dispute. It was filed 3 weeks after receipt and positive feedback. Buyer claim sterling silver was ‘rusty’ and earring back was missing and the item looked uses. We explain sterling silver does not rust, we can send a replacement set of backs and no one even tried them on. She sent them back, without any packaging, via an open dispute, after a series of messages exchanges. When I asked where was the packaging, she snapped in the reply message. eBay read through the message and returned the funds to our account.
Sellers also sell broken items then get away with it with some help from eBay. Here's a true story about a tricky weasel of a seller that goes by tincupblues... This jerk sold a broken,"supposedly properly repaired" Aiersi resonator guitar, then filed a fraudulent insurance damage claim with the post office then tried to get the buyer to file a damaged in shipping claim with eBay and told the buyer if the post office pays up,then the buyer may get the instrument for free. Buyer wants no part of the scam and takes the package and content's to postalmaster for examination because he knows it wasn't damaged in shipping and doesn't want the seller abusing the system. Postmaster inspects everything and tells the buyer no way was it broken in shipping, buyer contacts seller again ,then seller offers a measly $50 to repair a broken neck on the resonator guitar. Buyers says no to the $50 and asks for $100 sellers wants more pics of damage.no more pics of damage can be taken without removing resonator to photograph inside. Once that is done, the seller then gets eBay to close in the his favor claiming because the buyer had a luthier take more pictures of the damage that the instrument is now altered and cannot be returned . Pretty sneaky seller, but he may end up getting in trouble over filing fraudulent insurance damage claim with USPS. Time for the buyer to do a chargeback I found no negative feedback from.buyer..The buyer said eBay blocked his feedback,so he couldn't leave any feedback for the seller.. I've seen all the messages and pictures about the transaction and it's obvious the seller was a scheming and scamming.
Busy Buyer Scam. One scam is to when you buy something from a foreign country. When it finally arrives after a few weeks, it does not work. The Seller says they’ll ship you another. The weeks pass until that doesn’t happen. Basically, it becomes more difficult to manage and track when and what the Seller is doing over a longer period of time, where it becomes easier to miss a date. Then, the case is closed and they have your money.
I just purchased a $600 item from a seller in CAL with zero feedback but I'm having doubts about submitting payment. Mainly because I did this in the past and never received the item and although I did receive a refund, my $800 was tied up for over a month. And my current financial situation does not allow me to go through that again. The reason I'm buying this item is to flip it for a $300 profit.
I once almost fell for the picture item. Only after reading the description carefully it said it was a high resolution "picture". I emailed the seller and sure 'nuf he was selling a picture, a high resolution one for an exuberant amount.
OMG!!!! Ebay should NOT allow drop shipping!! Unless they say it's drop-shipped!! I ordered something that said it was in USA and took 5 weeks to get because it was drop-shipped from China!! I was sooooo pissed!!!!
Yeah I got caught out by that one seller the info says seller was from uk. My item came from China taking 30 more days that it would do from a uk seller. Very annoying,
We have a TV show in the US called Judge Judy, where people go to small claims court on TV. She had an ebay case years ago where a woman was being sued for the picture scam. She tore her a new one.
Another nasty thing some sellers do is offer a product at a really great price with an insane shipping charge..., hoping the buyer hits "pay" before realizing they just agreed to something like 10 times the average shipping charge.
I experienced a ´buy now scam´. Ebay says you only pay if you hit the ´confirm and buy´icon. Some sellers still send you an invoice although you didn't hit the confirm and pay button-they also set it up so you cannot see the ´buy now´ price unless you press the buy now icon.
I bought a SNES classic for $88 with a stock image. The seller was awesome, he even asked me when the shipping didn't come to my house what happened. Definitely, worth the extra $8, he deservers it.
You forgot the one that the seller never ship the product to you but then Ebay help them by stating that the product was delivered. The scam involved both Ebay and the Ebay sellers. You bought an item and paid for it, 2 weeks later the tracking on Ebay would said that the item was delivered but you never got the item. You email Ebay and all Ebay do is tell you that it's been delivered so you got screw. Ebay won't help you and the Seller got your money. This is a hug scam. Both Ebay and the sellers are in on the same scam and both of them benefited while you lost tons of money.
What about buying an item from a multiple list of items listed, with free delivery, but they send the wrong item and the buyer is responsible for paying to return the item which would probably cost more than the actual item.
Scentmonk you’re not responsible for covering return costs, at least not in the UK/EU eBay will issue a prepaid returns label or Paypal will refund your return postage costs. If all else fails they just let you keep it and refund you anyway. You could always go through your bank for a refund and let the seller figure out how to get their item back themselves
Still very relevant info. Problem: The biggest rorts I see are in computers. They list the CPU generically, Intel vs Intel Celeron, graphics card misinformation. There is one lister that advertises NEW 9th Generation Intel Dual Core...blah blah blah...nowhere in the listing does it say its a Celeron processor. I wish Ebay would allow you to report listings and allow you to list exactly what the problem is, instead you just click on pre-worded entries which say very little on the specifics of the problem. The 2 main things Ebay should make mandatory are: 1. CPU info (exact) and 2. Graphics Card info (exact)
I don’t know if anybody knows about this scam but sometimes sellers will create a label/tracking number to give you the impression that they’re gonna ship the product but NEVER DO .
I buy a lot of old coins in the USA. A subtle (not illegal thing I see some coin sellers do) They will show a picture of multiple coins to lure the buyer into thinking they are getting say 5 coins for their purchase. But if you read the description (many don't) it says the auction is for 1 coin of the seller's choice. Also I have bought from these sellers knowing it was for 1 coin and the coin they send is not any of the coins pictured and in fact is in worse condition than any of the coins pictured.
VAT and tax is always tallied by customs. Had all my ebay purchases from international sellers, have not had that many problems and none of them related to VAT. A bit annoying though that you have to pay VAT upfront when “Global shipping program” is applied, have heard of people end up paying double the original VAT with no refund from ebay. Remember one auction where as the seller wanted to up the price of shipping from £20 to £100 which I most definitely did not agree with(everything was already payed). Ended up with seller, without my knowledge, cancelling my order.
I recently bought an item on eBay. After buying the Item I was looking at his reviews on his page I found out the seller wasnt from the U.S. Some people were saying they received their items from China and Kazakhstan. As an eBay buyer for 6 years, this is the first time I experienced something like this.
Hi Jake . there is a lot of scams on Ebay . I baugh 3 items I never received . 1 of them was £250 plus £30 postage . No refund . I think I have to stop shopping on Ebay . It's just wasting money . Thanks Jake
Watching this as I just got scammed by a seller. Seller never shipped my item. "Said it got lost by USPS" asked me to request a cancel to speed up the return process. Which I did and the transaction was closed and states that Ive been refunded but yet I haven't recieved any money. Wtf yo. Beware of sellers that dont actually ship anything or tracking numbers that lead to no information
Ebay has a buyer’s protection plan. If the seller refuses to refund your money, or says they have, when they haven’t, click on “Help” and open a request for a refund. Ebay will fully refund whatever you paid the seller for the item and shipping.
Is there any chance of getting your money back if they close the case on Ebay even though it was a scam and the featured item was not sent. Only a small accessory to the item was sent. Added note: Guess what, Ebay is going to work with me on this matter. I am so very thankful and grateful to Ebay. After I wrote this I checked the email and I had received a message saying they will help me with a refund. Prayers do get answered. Thank you for this helpful video.
Bought a mr buddy heater from lowes hardware , needed a filter so I bought one on eBay . The seller refuses to give me shipping info , it's been 14 days now . I live in Tallahassee , the seller is in Fort Lauderdale . eBay has put me on the mushroom diet , feed me sh$t and keep me in the dark . These are provable facts , be very wary about buying anything from eBay !
Just started to use Ebay and have attempt of scam twice so far. Loosing faith but came upon your RUclipss which are brilliant. Thank you for all the information you provided to protect or spot a scam on Ebay. Being a novice it already has been very helpful! Love your input on going further also on "Have I been PWNED" Also helpful.
One I ran into is a seller who sent me a box filled with bags of plastic pellets instead of the trailer hitch I ordered. Guess they didn't think I'd actually look in the box...
Ebay is great! You can post a stock photo of anything, a laptop, tablet, phone, etc and then buy something at the good will or salvation army, send it to the buyer and at most all that will happen is they will have to return the junk you sent them to get a refund. Ebay still makes a profit and most people won't return the item because it takes time and energy. It's like christmas every day 😒
Most DSLRs are sold without a lens and memory card unless it is specified that it comes with these things. If you use our Visa card for an international purchase Visa will hit you with an international charge. It isn't but a couple of bucks but it is there.
Definitely agree with your point about sellers leaving out information in a description rather than describing in a misleading way. I bought some Lego minfigure blind bags recently. They were listed as used and had a photo of each minifigure and under the description it just had the set number and figure details and that’s about it. Not even a sold as seen thing. When they arrived they were missing a lot of parts and didn’t even include the base plates. Seller then claimed I should’ve asked about the parts and base plates. It’s a bad faith move. In trying to get my money back he even admits that parts were missing contrary to his previous position which was there are no parts missing you should have asked if they were included. There’s a difference between something being in “used” condition and something being incomplete. A point this seller didn’t seem to understand.
Thank you good sir, your absolutely right. It's very important to ask the seller any questions related to the item that he/she going to sell. Also, check the sellers feedback and read carefully item description. I have a question? What if there is a top rated seller have an item and after buying the item there isn't any tracking number? Does that make seller a scammer?
I am watching this because I just had a order cancelled because I won the auction, and bought a coin that should have sold for more money. Did not even contact me, just cancelled with lost or damaged. I understand the disappointment that must have taken place, but the fact is that I won the coin in auction without a reserve. It is what it is, and just wanted to share my experience, because its something we all should be aware of. I messaged and mentioned I smelt something fishy and is giving them three days to resolve it, then I will contact Ebay.
Remember I bought a game that was listed as "good" condition. When I received it the back cover was torn. The seller hadn't photographed the back cover and he hadn't mentioned this in the description. When I asked him about it, he was like "this is good condition as I said" and he was correct, it came under what eBay describes as good condition. But it was definitely intentional that he didn't photograph the back cover.
The expensive postage (shipping) scam is very prevalent especially among auctions for small items eg coins, antique spoons, bank notes. Such sellers are best avoided, even when they claim it is ebay policy. The worst of all is when they forcibly use DHL which charges additional admin a d import fees to the consignee on arrival even if these are generally not applicable according to local customs laws. Learnt this the hard way once and that was enough, and enough to give seemingly good deals because of such shady (profiteering) practices.
Your videos are very informative. I never knew about number 5 on your list. I always read descriptions thoroughly but from now on I will triple check them. Thanks for the info!
Recent purchase the seller didn’t mention the customs that may be incurred, which they should do under the policy. Read the policies so that you can quote them. 👍
I recently ran into a seller selling "Brand New, Sealed" computers (in large print, with graphics at the top of the listing) only to find (in tiny print near the bottom of the listing) that their unlicensed "IT guy" had opened the PCs (voiding the factory warranty) and "upgraded" them with non-specified, non-factory original, parts. They should have been listed as Seller Refurbished.
Regular mail-order companies sometimes charge exorbitant postage rates, too; what I sometimes do to counter that greedy practice is to send an order of a sizable monetary amount (like maybe fifty bucks or more) but not use their pre-printed order form --- complete with the company's inflated postage-rates --- from the catalog; I just write out my order on a lined sheet of paper, and write in a somewhat-lower postage cost at the bottom; i.e., whatever amount seems truly reasonable/realistic for what it would actually likely cost to ship the order. That way the company will be faced with the choice of either potentially alienating a new customer and losing a sizable order by whiningly returning the order for more postage-moolah, or sulkily filling the order and asking for the "missing" postage amount on the packing-slip, which of course you can then simply ignore because you got the merch. :P
I just experienced a scam seller on eBay. Product photo looks nothing like what was sent. Misleading information. I have returned it but they not accepting the return.
Brought a figurine, package was shipped but has been sitting in a location for over a month, was gonna send the seller a message to simply confirm everything was alright. He deleted his account.
Some one sold me a Sega Saturn on Ebay, and listed it as "like new", which it wasn't. Received the item in a box with no protection, but seemed to work ok. After disconnecting it from the mains to re position it. I turn it on, and it was making a screaming sound, with lines on the screen, and wouldn't boot the CD's. I worked out that it happened after being connected to the mains for a certain amount of time. The guy wanted a "photo", and I went one better and posted a video of the problem. He received the Saturn, and said it wouldn't switch on, and I wasn't getting a refund. After I called him out that he was trying to con me, he said he would give me the refund, but not the postage fee of £20 (Saying it wasn't faulty). Also posted a video of it working, but didn't leave it connected to the mains (like I instructed). I managed to get the full refund after 2 weeks of back and forth. Which then he said that he was going to remove my negative feedback. Which never happened. If someone tries to sell you a PAL Sega Saturn on Ebay with Japanese case, be careful.
Loved the video. One that caught me a few times with used electrical items was the 'artfully arranged photo' where it all looks fine in several pics but one side or one area is either missing or obscured and that can be quite badly damaged. Can be quite hard to spot and of course everything is described as 'being in excellent condition'. Apart from asking for photos of all sides there's no way top avoid BUT in my case since the items were very cheap and I could repair them I was not too upset.
I ordered something for a really good price and it said it was delivered to a place in Florida and I like in Arkansas. Checked my information and it was/still is correct. The price was too good to be true however I did get a full refund from eBay
I made a deal with a seller and he put up another add for me to buy the item, so I bought it on buy it now. He still has the original add up with bids on it, I messaged him from another account and he said he would sell it for cash if I can pick it up. So he is still trying to sell the bike even though I have paid for it already and made the deal... I have contacted eBay and they cannot do anything until I see if it arrives or not. How can he get away with this!?
Currently concerned because I am attempting to return a faulty game controller and wondering if the seller is attempting to phish for my email. So far have spoken with two "people." The second person wants my email before setting up the return and refund. Thinking this was odd, I looked over the guidelines for sellers accepting returns and completing refunds, and saw no mention of requiring my email address. Is this person trying to phish for my email, or am I being paranoid?
I have noticed Ebay lisitng where the description says that there are 3 sizes of an item avaiable, but there is no way to request the size. I have contacted the Seller who told me to just make add a note on the size needed when I pay. They could then send me any size and say that the other was sold out. Only buy when you can insure that it is exactly what you want. I shop for my elderly mother and had to completely resew one item to fit her.
James Arroyo they could but have they? I have listings like that, instead not size but color. All I ask is include the note. Yes accidents happens sometimes we Humans make mistakes
Riyad Shah. Do not give EBay sellers your bank informations, any Ebay sellers asking bank deposit or outside Ebay police is a SCAMMER! sellers, The best way you created PAYPAL Account pay your purchase with PayPal that linked to your bank Account or you can purchase moneypak than upload to your PayPal Account. After you paid used this thru PAYPAL and still not get your after you paid you can contact Ebay, this is the way I purchases on EBay

and you bought it despite the bad feedback?...why????
Thanks for your reply. I understand and have made the same mistake. Peace to you and yours.
Tribulation Prepper this is what is known as drop shipping the seller copies the item from a trade outlet lists it on ebay with a margin of profit for himself. The problem with this is the seller has no control whatsoever over the product and the shipping.
It's very common and people make lots of money doing this without handling the product.
Wish is the same way
There's a hell of a lot (cant remember how to check for to see if its legit rather than just the price of them) 1TB sized memory sticks, rather actually is a bit between the storage medium and the USB connector which goes back to the memory chip but has been changed, essentially they don't register about how much data is on the chip so essentially will keep filling up the memory chip continually so old data will get written over
Another sellers scam ... buy it now for $8 (leather briefcase made in China) you click the buy it now button and it asks you to choose a color... you click brown, and suddenly the price jumps to $35
Very good point. I've noticed this one myself
Then don't buy it.
Yeah the 8$ thing is like for some random sticker or 8 packets of ramed XD
same!i bought an iphone 8 plus for 120 pounds and now i think its too good to be true
It's actually not a scam. It's like half of one. They do have the item in the drop down but they put a lesser of the two or X to get you to click on the page over the others.
It's a honest seller page just testing the buyers attention to detail
I'm watching this hoping that the stuff I ordered isn't a scam
KiChi Kiwi did get ur item??? I transferred on his personal account and now he is not replying any msg..
I did! I'm actually surprised this online shopping isn't as bad as I thought, also I'm sorry about the man not answering your messages.
Clear case of fraud.. no replies. ..dony know what to do?? Did you also paid by transferring in personal account ??
I did, does it change anything?
Noo... so your seller must b good person...mine was fake
Do you remember the name of the seller ?
Tankiste 69 No, the incident occurred many years ago.
@@brightwriter okay cause I found a PC for 130€ but now I'm totally sure it is a scam
Was it "hungry86"?
I bidded for a Yacht on eBay and won the item. Next day I was emailed by seller that somebody had outbidded me AFTER the auction by £100 so I gave up. Later on the seller emailed me again that he had been let down by buyer and if I paid just another £50 I could have Yacht. I don't think so !
Worst scams for me, as a vintage toy collector are: Selling restored toys as original. Selling something like lego as "vintage" when all the parts are modern. Fake boxes. Fake stickers. Modified toys to look like a rarer version. Making up their own variants and selling them as original.
So many shady sellers easily get all their negative feedback removed and no one ever knows they sucks.
I wasted his time and and then finally told him to go f off
Rosemann07 Truth good job🥳😂
Thanks ...I I was next in line and got the cooper ...what a deal! It's AWESOME! ....J/K
Wow, never thought about a seller listing and selling a picture of the item and not the actual item. Some sellers and buyers are so crooked now. I stopped buying and selling on eBay too many crooks.
You would think eBay would be on the look out doe these assholes
I was scammed and they never responded to my offers, should have taken it as a red flag.
Another scam I have witnessed several times recently on eBay regarding photos is listing a stock photo rather than the actual photo of the item. Sometimes if you message a seller about this they will refuse to send or update with a real photo saying "its new" or just ignore the buyer completely.
Ebay requires a photo from you
As a seller myself , i post my items as accurately as possible, if i make a mistake i agree to refund or fix the issue! COMMUNICATION IS KEY! But i have seen some scammy people that would sell highly sought after items that are fake/ replicas, like SUPREME, LOUIS VUITTON, PRADA ETC,
And they post new and all that info and the price is like killer good!
@@douglee8158 sorry to hear that, maybe go through your bank for a refund?
To add more to #3: If you decide you no longer want to keep the item, you not only lose out on the original shipping cost, but you also have to pay an additional shipping cost to send it back to them, as well as pay a possible restocking fee if it's included in the listing!!!
PLAY THIS!!! File SNAD. Don’t pay for shipping.
Yea same thought I was buying a Ferrari for £1 turns out it was a hot wheels car.
I had a eBay seller cavaliercards not honor his FREE shipping so add him to the bad list. Buyers Beware.
The point about a high postage price was very helpful. Thanks!
Yup. And when I see a $499 shipping on a $9 blouse, (for example), I speak up. The sellers always play dumb, but, we all know that scam.
Good looks
yea i didnt know that either but it makes sense
Never would have thought of that.
Its not an eBay scam but could be easily done here.
I purchased a computer, they send glasses,
I contact seller they send out another order (which gets lost),
in the mean time I have received a parcel (more junk) which I have no idea as it is sent from a different address.
I put in a complaint for a refund about two days before the close, they announce the tracking number on the junk, most people would have tossed the package by this time,
PayPal have no where to protest the junk package and I am out of pocket.
Try to inform PayPal about this scan that is being used and all you get are bot generated answers
So the scam is still out there to be used.
now I'm extremely worried i got scammed wish me luck
I wish you luck.
Ulrich T that was 4months ago.
HuMa_G3mers LMFAO
UPDATE: I didn't get scammed, I was worried for nothing

But I still not 100%sure
hmm.
After watching these I think I'll just go downtown and buy it.
Thanks for the warnings.
nobody complains about eBay ripping you off with fees ??? charging $56.00 on a $300.00 item.. I'll never buy from eBay or sell on eBay
I buy few coins on ebay anymore. Too much double talk or outright lying. I stay with very few sellers - only ones I can trust.
Another tip, don’t buy items with promo photos (as if photos
from official website or ads) and not the actual photo that someone took in
their living room. If you sell something, can’t you take a picture of it
instead of googling in on the internet?...
Sellers lose ALL cases
Buyers win ALL cases
This shipping costed $20 and is taking forever to get here, yet amazons $7 shipping gets here in less than a week wtf
What about the "private listing" scam? Let's talk about that.
Thanks for this, I’m new to eBay so I’m fully prepared now.
In fact as in modern eBay world where the sellers are held by their balls hanging upside down there no such thing as seller scam!
i am surprised no one has mentioned shipping scams
You pay to return the item...
vinie pooh I bought a desk for a computer and after hitting order 2 minutes it was processed and shipped guess what I really got a got dam laptop stand and this was my first purchase on ebay and already been duped bitch then refunded me $3 after I paid $20 then their account don't exist anymore so I can't return the fucking shit
one thing I hate about some ebay sellers is the old " Item was working last time It was used , but "I cant test now as I dont have the plug" yeah right, lol Oh & I wish that bidders id`s were not hidden , as its now really difficult to prove shill bidding,
I remember a particular seller, "ren_sells_stuff", trying to sell me used a used item as new. The VHS items were obviously RESEALED and one of the VHS tapes needs rewinding. Avoid "ren_sells_stuff" at all costs. Yes, I do mean to post the scammer's username.
I just bought a pool and when I went to check my order it says that the product and seller do not exist anymore. What should I do?

Here's a true story about a tricky weasel of a seller that goes by
tincupblues...
Time for the buyer to do a chargeback
I found no negative feedback from.buyer..The buyer said eBay blocked his feedback,so he couldn't leave any feedback for the seller..
Sone sellers sell from China and list and put pictures that they are a 🇺🇸 seller
Definitely, worth the extra $8, he deservers it.
i just look at the ratings and when they were opened up i guess
do you mean feedback rating? 90% of "sellers" have fake feedbacks where lot of negatives were already removed.
That so true I got scam the same way too and ebay did nothing to help me so I close my account on ebay
What about buying an item from a multiple list of items listed, with free delivery, but they send the wrong item and the buyer is responsible for paying to return the item which would probably cost more than the actual item.
Scentmonk you’re not responsible for covering return costs, at least not in the UK/EU
eBay will issue a prepaid returns label or Paypal will refund your return postage costs.
Awwww.....bad deal
Same!
Did you end up getting it?
Andrei Munteanu , no I canceled them , Walmart is 100 % better .
@@gerldbizet6518 ok, thanks
@@andrewfrost9408 eBay may have to improve policies to reduce scams.
???
New is different than “open box.” eBay offers an option which says “open box” for a reason.
Yes, I’ve read the listed items from “dumb” sellers, pretending they have little knowledge about an item that’s supposed to be high end or rare.
It’s crazy we shouldn’t even have to worry about shit like this
CONTACT 1STOOLZ ON INSTAGRAM 💯💯 LEGIT HE IS THE BEST SO FAR AND I GOT 5 IPHONES THROUGH HIM. ALL THANKS 😘.
If someone tries to sell you a PAL Sega Saturn on Ebay with Japanese case, be careful.
what if you paid for an iteam and the seller dosent ship it at all i mean dosent repond to messages as well when you paid for it
File item not received, and report seller to ebay.
Well done~great series you have going here, thank you so much for posting these! I'm beyond certain that many more will appreciate them also:)
What if a seller only wants a bank deposit transaction, can you be sure that they will send the item, or just keep the money and not send it?
Item that you purchase
