Welcome back! The city was officially renamed Bengaluru in 2006, and this name change reflects the local pronunciation and spelling in the Kannada language, which is the official language of the state of Karnataka, where Bengaluru is located. It has pleasant weather all through the year.
In the local language Kannada it is called Bengal̥ūru. While you pronounce the 'l̥ū' tongue has to touch the roof(pallet) of the mouth instead of teeth(as in normal 'lu'). But even most indians from different states pronounce it as Bengaluru as they have lost the pronunciation of the letter ' ळ( l̥a ) ' so they say 'ल (la) '.@@zingwibrothers
@@dhi1083 Is it the 'zh' sound? Im Malayali and im trying to figure out with lu sound youre talking about because theres many. Maybe can you put the Tamil letter for it? I can read Tamil but not Malayalam 😅
I have put the devanāgari equivalent. I don't know the tamil script but the ' l̥a ' I am referring to is the same in "Keral̥a", Kal̥inga, Deepāval̥i etc. Instead of your tongue touching the teeth while saying 'la', it touches the top pallet of your mouth when you say 'l̥a'. (difference between ल(la) and ळ( l̥a) is same as in त(ta) - ट( ṭa), न(na) - ण( ṇa), द(da) - ड( ḍa) I am confused with the 'zh' that Tamilians and mallus use.. coz some say it is 'rra', some say it is 'Lrra' with tongue rolling behind..like in ऌ @@xijinpig8982
