But no, still the standard plant/animals/intelligent life. And as for the intelligent life, we get two human like biped races with new head crests and bent knees and the geth 2.0. They wear normal clothing, fly around in ships, and use handheld guns. I was really hoping for a little more effort. As for the planets, they are beautiful, but as far as I've gotten its just "snowy planet", "desert planet", and "jungle planet". This is such a missed opportunity.

Not necessarily. Lets take an example, Elephants have extremely complex ways of communicating utilizing a mix of low frequency sounds created by their feet, expressions with their trunk and such. How would you animate that? For an Alien it'd be just as weird to accurately animate our facial muscles and such. That does not excuse the bad body animation though.
A games story can only get it so far. If the gameplay and visual quality are severely lacking, but the story is amazing, I'd prefer to just read a book. I don't want to play this trash because it's not fun to play, that's what games should be, yes, even heavily story based games should be first and foremost immersive and fun to play. If you have a good story, but cant make a game, write a book instead and I'll happily read it. Andromeda is not immersive thanks to its buggy animations, and its not fun thanks to its shoddy gameplay. Maybe the story is good, I'll never know, because it's a shit game, not a good novel.

I just dont get it, how something so essential as facial and movement animations gets pass the review process like no one at Bioware saw this and went "that's not how faces work". The fact that they even dared to put a game in this state out it's just shameful, even if this game its decent people are not gonna get pass all of this shit so nice job Bioware you really outdone yourselves.
The only reasonable explanation is that they re-did most of the game at the last minute, and EA was piling on huge pressure to release. I agree that it's incredible that this shower of shit passed QA testing. There are thousands of talented animators in the world, and Bioware doesn't appear to have the ability to hire any of them, despite their significant resources and attractive reputation. Truly staggering.
tbh animation is hard and takes a lot of time, especially when a game has so much dialogue. The game's budget would take a significant hit. Although even considering that this is quite shitty.
I've been thinking a lot about these facial animations and i came up with two theories. Theory 1: All these guys are indoctrinated, and they look pretty good for husks. Theory 2: Synthesis ending in ME3 affected Andromeda galaxy and made all these people androids.
I prefer the second one, only that for them, Synthesis was not complete (there is no characteristic greenish glow) and, because of this, they are still stuck in the middle of merge - not organics, not synthetics, not hybrids like the Milky Way inhabitants either. As you can see, it does not do any good to them.
Or theory 10 Andromeda initiative was about sending away all the uglies to the other galaxy. So ugly that even reapers did not bother to chase after them

The Hanaar or Elcor or Volus embassies? C-Sec? The first time you visit the "club"? Speaking to the Council? That sense of grandieur. In Andromeda it's not "explore this station and see what you can find out". Instead it's "follow the orange quest marker, this shows you all you need to know. Ignore the rest."

ME2s main plot and Andromedas main plot are about as bad as each other, the only good part of me2 was the recruitment and loyalty missions, plus alot of problems with me3s campaign have their root in me2. ME2 literally didn't advance the reaper plot at all, me1 ends "we need to find a way to stop the reapers" me2 ends "we haven't learned anything about how to stop the reapers, we wasted two years of our time on what amounts to a side quest,we need to find a way to stop the reapers" at least Andromeda set up any possible sequel decently well,while me2 actively fucked the over arching story of the trilogy

And when their game was compared to W3, a true master class in open world games, people realized that Bathesda has been getting a lot of free passes for quite some time now.

Bioware is full of people who can't program or animate for shit, because they were hired for their gender, race or political affiliation.
The only reasonable explanation is that they re-did most of the game at the last minute, and EA was piling on huge pressure to release. I agree that it's incredible that this shower of shit passed QA testing.
There are thousands of talented animators in the world, and Bioware doesn't appear to have the ability to hire any of them, despite their significant resources and attractive reputation. Truly staggering.

I've been thinking a lot about these facial animations and i came up with two theories.
Theory 1: All these guys are indoctrinated, and they look pretty good for husks.
Theory 2: Synthesis ending in ME3 affected Andromeda galaxy and made all these people androids.
I prefer the second one, only that for them, Synthesis was not complete (there is no characteristic greenish glow) and, because of this, they are still stuck in the middle of merge - not organics, not synthetics, not hybrids like the Milky Way inhabitants either. As you can see, it does not do any good to them.
Theory 3: Cryostasis destroys nerve endings in the face and may also result in partial paralysis and brain damage.
Theory 5: They had altered DNA in order to survive the Cryostasis for that long, but it had mostly destroyed their facial muscles.

You don't even need to use the faces. The writing alone screams: "What are we doing here? What am I doing here? Whyyyy?" So far I haven't met a single interesting character, maybe Vetra...and that's telling of the game's state. Remember the first visit to the Citadel? Anderson? That Asari councellor? The Hanaar or Elcor or Volus embassies? C-Sec? The first time you visit the "club"? Speaking to the Council? That sense of grandieur. In Andromeda it's not "explore this station and see what you can find out". Instead it's "follow the orange quest marker, this shows you all you need to know. Ignore the rest."

At least if there was dlc there might have been a reason for the Deluxe edition to be so much more pricey (some guns, an armour and a monkey is the best they could come up with?), as well as some more story content. If they had spent some time on DLC (and put in actual effort) they might have regained enough faith to make another, better ME.
At the very least they could have had some free one-mission story dlc, animation packs and such.

ME2s main plot and Andromedas main plot are about as bad as each other, the only good part of me2 was the recruitment and loyalty missions, plus alot of problems with me3s campaign have their root in me2. ME2 literally didn't advance the reaper plot at all, me1 ends "we need to find a way to stop the reapers" me2 ends "we haven't learned anything about how to stop the reapers, we wasted two years of our time on what amounts to a side quest,we need to find a way to stop the reapers" at least Andromeda set up any possible sequel decently well,while me2 actively fucked the over arching story of the trilogy
Ahhhh the memories. I remember how much I loved Mass Effect 2 by not knowing anything about it before starting, then finished the game with different builds and story choices countless times. I can't remember how many times it gave me a lot chills. The best 60 bucks I ever spent. I wish I could wipe my memory and start this beautiful game again. No wonder it is widely regarded as the best Mass Effect game to date, supported by the facts that it has got the highest rating and most awarded game in the franchise.

Reading the reviews and awards gives me chills as much as the game itself. What a masterpiece. Truly one of the greatest games ever made. I would think no Mass Effect to come will ever dethrone it. Totally disappointed with ME3 and Andromeda so far. We can only hope the next game take a look at Mass Effect 2. You don't need any examples how to make proper games than your own game Bioware. They are just sub par. People are making fun of this game for it's stiff and laughable animations (rightfully so) but they forget that Fallout 4 wasn't really breezing through that department either. And when their game was compared to W3, a true master class in open world games, people realized that Bathesda has been getting a lot of free passes for quite some time now.

Vampire Bloodlines was really fantastic in that department. The NPCs where actually _acting_, like doing sweeping, dramatic hand gestures to underscore a point and fixing you with a Kubrick stare whenever they were pissed off about something.

Sorry, but I played all of the Mass Effect trilogy. Some crappy facial animations won't stop me from playing Andromeda.

Too many Mass Effect fanboys out there. I loved the trilogy, hated the ending and all the dumb DLC. I tried to talk sense to people who were dumb enough to pre-order it, but they're too blind to acknowledge how badly ripped off they're going to get.
Pawlik23 fuck off most of the dlc were pretty epic and the extended cut made the game what it as intended to be

@Itsme Mike " and no side content." TW3 has loads of side content and 90% of it is excellent. You're also assuming that CDPR are incapable of making a game that does not have a predefined character. AFAIK, Cyberpunk 2077 will have a character creator, speaking of character creation, from what I've seen and heard, the CC in Andromeda is subpar.
