The difference between Star Trek and Star Wars
Star Trek designers will put in guard rails yet not give anybody a seatbelt
Star Wars makes everybody strap in (not on Pam) when they jump to light speed, yet they always cut bulding cost by not installing railings

@@Qicksilver0075 Honestly, the prison-ship crash we just watched is the first time I've seen a seatbelt in live-action Star Wars...
Cassian should've at least sat down like Luthen told him to. But the fact Cassian was thrown off his feet by the jump was a clue that "Fondor" is a proper hot-rod. Imagine the chaos if G-Forces like that were had whenever a ship jumps! Hotel rooms trashed, dinner parties aboard Star Destroyers absolutely ruined, passengers on the Space Bus tumbling down the aisles.
Actually I'd watch a montage of that sh*t after a couple shots of rum.

Manny Jacinto is the Apothecary! He played Jason in “The Good Place”, one of my favorite actors I love that dude.
Totally agree with you, I was super excited going into it, the show’s heart is in the right place and I love what it’s saying about the Jedi and its authority (I hope it actually goes deep with that and actually addresses those issues and doesn’t wimp out for brand synergy like the sequels did) but the delivery of it all feels a little off and stilted. I do kind of wish the mystery aspect was played up a bit more strongly at least in the first two episodes.
Its no Andor but its overall a solid start and I’m more interested in it than I have been in most recent Star Wars projects.

The thing I'm looking forward to the most is an actual lightsaber fight. Every fight we've seen hasn't utilized a lightsaber. Which is interesting. Not only because it presents a fascinating dichotomy between the Jedi now, rarely using their lightsabers, and the Jedi of the prequel era, using their lightsabers constantly; but also because Leslye Headman has said she hopes to have fights that rival or even surpass the Maul fight in Phantom Menace's finale in terms of choreography. Which is a very high bar.
Also, apparently Leslye was very adamant that at least one person in the writer's room be someone who knows nothing about Star Wars to ensure people could go in having not seen another Star Wars thing and understand everything. And to do that with a show set in an era told almost entirely through novels and comics is probably very hard. But as someone who has yet to read any of it, I think they're doing a good job. But some of that stiffness you're feeling might be from that. Maybe. I didn't feel any stiffness in the show despite several other people feeling that way, but whatever.

My guess is that the 4 Jedi on that planet became aware of identical twins who were Force Sensitive and wondered what would happen if one were trained as a Jedi and one was not, and set up the fire and told each twin that the other one had started the fire but had perished. Some kind of wild, wacky, Jedi version of My Fair Lady.

Did a watch party with my friends and we were all floored that they killed off Carrie Ann Moss in the first scene, definitely feels like we’ll see her prominently in a flashback. At first I was worried the showrunners were setting Mae up to be Osha’s dissociative personality disorder so I’m grateful she’s actually a separate character. We also wondered if the dealer was gonna be the master, happy to see great minds think alike. Yord feels like the trigger-happy cop who needs to get his ass handed to him. Did find it interesting that Mae reached for his lightsaber during the fight, could see him being shamed by its loss/theft.

The Jedi don't steal children though. Their parents consent to their children being trained and they are free to say no. One of the reasons why the Jedi don't take in older kids is specifically because by then they have an attachment to their families which they don't want to disrupt. Osha was taken in because she became an orphan. Anakin was taken in because he was unusually strong in the Force and it meant liberating him from literal slavery. It's a valid criticism though why the Republic or Jedi didn't do anything about the slavery going on on the Outer Rim or why didn't they liberate Shmi specifically.

    • @Sylvie_without_surname
      @Sylvie_without_surname Месяц назад +5

I don't know, just because they don't kick down the door lightsabers blazing doesn't mean there isn't an element of coercion. The parents don't exactly seem thrilled in the situations we've seen, and most of them come from much less wealth than the Jedi, so at the very least there's a similar dynamic to the American military.

Is it? If the military recruited toddlers, cut them off from their families, and began training them to fight for the rest of their lives I think people would talk about that as stealing kids. Oh, and the military is also a religious cult here too. And if someone doesn't want to give up their kid that the Jedi really want? How free do you think anyone really is to say no to the Jedi?

    • @barkasz6066
      @barkasz6066 Месяц назад +4

@@Sylvie_without_surname Sure, it's supposed to be somewhat controversial but it's still leagues away from "stealing children". And the Jedi aren't like the American military. For one they're supposed to be the good guys who actually revere and protect life. More like enlightened social worker monks. They do lose their way by the time of the Prequels but by far and large they're still the good guys. Individual Jedi aren't supposed to hoard wealth and power and while there is a hierarchy when they become political and rigidly hierarchical is when they lose their way. The High Republic novels I think illustrate it brilliantly what the Jedi are supposed to be when they do things the way they supposed to and it's pretty great.

Interesting thoughts. I agree with a lot or at least see where you're coming from. I will push back some on your view of the Jedi.
While I agree that the institution, the Order, had flaws (that would be used against them), I do not think that the message was, is, or will be that the Jedi were the "bad guys" and that the Order shouldn't exist. I think Star Wars presents the Jedi as a good thing, that is at times poorly executed. The way or philosophy of the Jedi, what they stand for, is fundamentally a positive and good thing. The structure of the Order is as fallible as any institution run by fallible people.

In regards to yord not bringing in OSHA himself, I think yord is like the very rules following type jedi. Every time he suggests a plan or idea, there's not really an uniqueness to it. It feels like a very standard plan like when they were discussing how to capture the apothecary, qimir. Yord suggests a very basic plan whereas the padawan instead suggests using OSHA. I don't think yord is very flexible. Like when he brought in OSHA, he's rigid and he tries to act formal treating her not like an old friend but like how a jedi would treat a prisoner. So when he's required to bring her in, he instead follows protocol and sends her with a prison guard rather than take her in himself. I think this is a trait of his character at least how I interpret it

I definitely had a lot of similar feelings heading into this series (except about the High Republic, I just haven't bothered to read any of the books or comics, just because other things have grabbed my attention, otherwise I have to read the modern Vader & Doctor Aphra stuff first), with interest because Leslye Headland is at least an intriguing creator (Russian Doll is an experience...not sure if I'd say I loved it, but I liked it and it'll probably remain in the back of my head like some other weird shows/movies).
Agree this is a "rather strong start" with some issues. The opening had some great wuxia vibes (very reminiscent of a particular Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon scene), though I'm a bit sad it confirmed something I suspected from the trailers (won't say more, as I'm still avoiding spoilers this early in the response), with those wuxia vibes continuing on into the next episode, nice action. Looking forward to more.
One part that does confuse me is the main group getting to the 2nd Jedi Master - the initial scene suggests he isn't terribly far from the entrance Mae initially uses, and that looked to be the way the group got in when they arrived...yet the two local Jedi seem to be taking them a long way around (when they're already in something of a rush) while Mae sneaks off and gets there first, via one of two entrances to the room...just feels like weird geography of action to set up the "oooh, do they suspect her?" beat.
Manny Jacinto of The Good Place (BORTLES!) plays the potentially evil ally mentioned in this review, and I could certainly see some similarities from mannerisms, but he definitely feels darker. That said, my big spoiler-y guess about the mysterious master...
I think it might be Yord. Something about the "too firm to the Jedi ways" attitude yet also recommending bad plans or ideas or intervening at interesting times, makes me wonder if he's either the master or secretly another acolyte, like Mae.

11:36 I really appreciate this about this show. So many modern shows try to drag out *every* mystery, minor or major, plot-relevant and less plot-relevant, to the point they become boring and stale and the fact they haven't been solved yet starts to negatively impact suspension of disbelief. There was a brief mystery, we got past it, and got to the parts that matter such that smaller mysteries don't ruin the watch-ability of the show and the larger mysteries are still there in the background. If that makes sense.

Maybe I'm being close minded, but I really dislike the perspective of the Jedi Order being a failure or their ideology being flawed. I've always and will always view the Jedi as paragons of virtue and justice and any "failing" by the Jedi comes down to individuals and not a systemic issue. Because if thats the case, what was the point of Luke becoming a Jedi in the first place in the original trilogy? It just reframes everything and sort of takes the wind out of the sails of Luke's "I am a Jedi, like my father before me." line.

    • @darlhiatt8136
      @darlhiatt8136 Месяц назад +6

I'd actually argue the opposite. The Jedi as individuals are paragons of justice and virtue, and the Jedi Order is flawed systemically. Like we saw in the first scene of this new show, a Jedi Master didn't hesitate to die to save an innocent bystander. That's consistent with how we've seen Jedi act since the beginning of Star Wars. As individuals, most of them try to do the right thing as much as they can. The Order falls despite that because of systemic issues within that are exploited by the Sith much like how Mae manages to kill her Jedi targets here by exploiting existing vulnerabilities. Every time we've seen the Jedi Order as an institution we've been shown aspects of their flaws, but that doesn't take away from the virtue of the individual Jedi we follow. Like how Obi Wan persisted in finding Kamino in Episode 2, it's individual Jedi following Light Side ideals to the best of their ability despite the systemic limitations of the Order that do the most good. And when you mention the original trilogy, that's all there is: individual Jedi doing their best. There is no Jedi Order in the original trilogy. The legacy of the original trilogy doesn't need a perfect and flawless Jedi Order and Luke doesn't succeed by being part of one. He succeeds by using his judgement as an individual informed by Jedi ideals.

Same and I'd argue Lucas intended them to be seen that way, saying multiple times that as a group the Jedi Order were the "best people in the galaxy." Too many people nowadays just swallow criticisms of the Jedi that, in-universe, come from sources actively trying to destroy the Order because the Jedi stand between them and creating a fascist dictatorship that controls most of the known galaxy. I have zero interest seeing the group that was ultimately right about everything in the prequel trilogies and also genocided be further shit on for things that aren't even true (no, they don't kidnap children. no, they don't disallow all attachments, only a specific form of unhealthy attachment. no, Anakin shouldn't have been trained etc)

I'm with you on this. I get Disney bought it and can do what they please with it, but I don't like it. The original franchise are some of the most beloved movies ever. To take them apart ideologically is hard to understand. Most fans resent it and always will (the first movie with this theme was The Last Jedi). What's the point of making movies most fans will resent? They have a vision they want to push, and they're doing it regardless of what most fans think.
Why not make another franchise? Why take something that already exist and completely undo it? Of course we know why. These movies/shows without the Star Wars name would bomb. See Rebel Moon.

We don't learn much about the Jedi in the original films. We only meet two proper Jedi (the presumed last of the Order) and what our absent friend Baylan would call a bokken Jedi, albeit our scrappy protagonist. We learn little about their history or ideology except that one of their most promising students betrayed and destroyed them, becoming one of the dark lords of the galaxy. It's hard to really evaluate them much based on that, and since they are acting in support of a patently just rebellion, it's easy to side with them.
The prequels show us an unaccountable cult of fanatic warrior-priest assassins whose personal and institutional arrogance, narrowmindedness, shortsightedness, and lack of psychological competence led directly to the fall of the galactic regime they intend to support. They protect monarchies and tolerate slavery. They indoctrinate children, and if you think that's somehow justified by either parental minor consent, you've badly misjudged what you're seeing, and you're literally buying propaganda while being shown where it fails.
One of the often short list of things Disney has done well is taking the darker aspects of the Jedi order seriously. The Empire may be a lot worse than the Republic, and the Sith may be a lot worse than the Jedi, but both the Republic and the Jedi were weak, failing insitutions for seemingly inherent reasons.

I would characterize this show as interesting, I like OSHA/Mae but overall I found some of the acting lackluster, but I’m willing to give it a chance. What convinced me may be odd to some, but it’s the scene where the teacher tells the Master Jedi (forgot her name) via hologram that Mae is alive and instead of letting him pursue her, she wants him to come back because they need to form a committee to discuss it. WHAT? A committee? I saw the beginning of the end of the Jedi right there. Sitting in their high and mighty circular room, blinded to a rising darkness. Too concerned with politics. I’m probably not expressing myself the best here, but I’m intrigued enough to keep watching.
On a side note, I appreciated the subtle costume/prop changes that indicate that this is set on the not too distant past, and the limited use of the lightsaber. The fight choreography was superb, new to Star Wars and I loved it. Felt very fresh and new.

For me, it was obvious she didn't do the killing because she was basically at a minimum wage job in space. They're unlikely to get time off for a vacation and let her take a shuttle or reroute the ship, even for a day. So that's a good comment on capitalism :D

Its definitely got some good things going for it. The martial arts are fantastic and seeing carrie ann moss back in action was great but was crestfallen when she died. That opening was so well done. I think the dialog is a bit weird and the actor who plays Sol deserved better lines. Im looking forward to see where its going. It seems like they are fleshing out that diad in the force. I think it did its job, i definitely am curious where this goes, even tho it is a bit clunky at times.

Definitely glad I'm not the only one who was nervous when Osha wandered off for what could have easily turned into a mistaken identity complication we've seen way too many times. Was superglad it was immediately subverted.
One thing I wish I could see more of is that "The Jedi aren't a force of universal good." They are alluding to that, but I need to see that in a substantive way that makes sense and not just a fit of selfish petulence. I want Mae to have a seriously good reason for taking revenge on the Jedi and not just "I did all this evil stuff, my hubris got the better of me, the Jedi rescued my sister and not me, so they took my sister away and they have to pay!" thing.
tl;dr: I hope all these potentially tired tropes are subverted as well as the mistaken identity trope was.

I really didn't like the first episode but started warming up to it by the end of the second. I'm coming at it from a different perspective, I super don't care about this era of Star Wars and also I just really dislike the Jedi. I can appreciate that this show is exploring why they suck but I feel like that's already well-explored. I'm mostly watching because Abi is in it even though it's a small role. I'm literally doing the Poochie thing where any time she's not on screen I'm asking "where's Abi?" lmao
    Some comments I've made elsewhere:
    (after watching E1)
The dialogue was super clunky. Pet peeve of mine is doing exposition by having two characters tell each other things they both already know. The plotting feels very hackneyed. I was actually yelling at the screen for how ridiculous the twin sister reveal was. Like okay, your rock solid case against Osha is the bartender says it was her. Meanwhile she's totally incapable of killing a Jedi Master, and OH YEAH SHE HAS A TWIN SISTER. FUUUUUCK. It only could have been sillier if her twin sister was named Oosha lmao
    Stray thoughts:
-killing Carrie-Ann Moss in the opening scene sure is a bold move
-speaking of, shit she's not very good at fighting. can only use the force on one thing at a time huh
-little handheld droid guy is ADORABLE
-dayum that one Jedi Knight guy is JACKED. I don't like dudes but I'd let him hit on me
-this show again reminding me why I hate Jedi
-okay the dream sequence was really cool, props for that
-lmao Osha rescuing the one guy wearing Wookie fur. Most obvious betrayal ever. The only purpose of that is to establish Osha as a "moral" character. Real subtle.
-secret Sith bad guy again, YAAAAWWN
    (after watching E2)
Liked the character stuff with Osha and Mae. Jedi once again showing how they're the worst. The poisoner guy felt very silly and out of place. Not that smarmy ne'er do wells don't belong in star wars, just is very off-brand for the sith (or whoever the evil jedi are supposed to be in this). I super don't care about secret sith bad guy and I really hope there isn't a hackneyed "it was THIS GUY THE WHOLE TIME" kind of reveal.
also shout outs to Hot Pie Jedi and Bigfoot Jedi
Looking forward to your reviews after each episode, it's always a pleasure when you make videos for shows I happen to watch. Really hoping Abi shows up in the next episode haha

Regardless of knuckleheads who call everything woke this show is objectively terrible. Fight choreography was great, for the Matrix makes no sense in a foundational SW series. Mae is a very weak co villain, I’m sure she’ll likely be good by the end. Not crapping on the actress but she is not a lead actress yet. And it is one of the cheapest major TV series I’ve ever seen. Rewatch for 5 minutes and see how every set is tiny. See how Headland can only show actors from torso and chest up, god forbid you see the characters in a space or set together (probably too small to pull back camera). I watched Andor and wasn’t in love like many others but watch it for 5 minutes and look at the quality of the sets and direction.

So if this is all a set up for an ACAB but with Jedi story, then frankly I am all in for it! Because while the prequels and Clone Wars flirted with this critique of the Jedi a little bit, a show being far more targeted and blatant with this theme would be amazing!

I really wanted to enjoy it too but it just wasn't happening. That said, the principals gave solid performances, the music was very good being orchestrated and paced like a John Williams score gave it a sense of that SW aura. While I think the first two episodes had some interesting things going on, I felt a little bored mainly because I feel like it’s kinda the same old stuff I’ve seen before. Like since this takes place years before any of the movies, it would’ve been nice to see the technology they had at the time be less advanced. For example, the lightsabers could’ve started off as regular swords. And the blasters could’ve functioned like normal guns with bullets. I know the EU books have done something like that already, but I would love to see that implemented in live action form.

seeing the jedi as kind of militaristic and stiff was kind of interesting. (didn't really grow up the the CG animated clone wars. I'm slowly making my way through that. I did see the Gendy Tartakovsky version a few years ago)
something about this installment feels i don't know. not sure what it is. i want to like it more.
i do like the actor who was in Squid Game due to i think being a little more open to hearing stuff out. And the other guy Yor feels super stiff almost stereotypical Paladin lawful good. also i thought it was kind of neat to see a few members of the Trade Federation in the first episode. Been ages since i've seen them.
the master that the knife sister seems to be working for i thought kind of looked like Kylo Ren in his helmet from the distance. mainly because it looked like he was wearing a helmet. could've been his hair.

Jedi do not steal children, that's straight up incorrect. They are shown giving parents the choice to admit their children or not, of which most do with the promise of securing a better life for their children in most cases as well as due to it being conceived as a great honor, especially in this time period when public admiration of the order is at its peak. They specifically train padawans starting at a young age to master and control their burgeoning abilities that would otherwise put themselves and those around them at risk.

I've not gotten much into Star Wars 'Expanded Lore' either the og EU or new stuff, but... IIRC...
Old Republic: The Sith Empire invades the Galactic Republic and the Jedi come out of their monasteries to counteract the Sith's force-users.
The High Republic: The Sith/Republic war is over and now the Jedi are fully integrated into the Republic as it's main 'peace-keepers'.
My opinion, based on what happened within and leading up to the Prequels... The fatal flaw of the Jedi was that when they defeated the Sith they didn't go back to their Monastaries, they kept all that authority the Republic gave them backed-up by their own Force Powers. All that stuff about 'not having attachments' and keeping that strictly to Personal attachments was a lot like many modern Christian sects preaching Dogma without acknowledging the context for why that Dogma was created in the first place.
"A Jedi must forgo worldly attachments." *Proceeds to become incestuously attached to the Republic's political/law-enforcement/military structures.*

My first problem with The Acolyte is that the Disney+ streaming appeared low-resolution. The scenes looked blurry. So I found a different way to watch the program.
My second problem with The Acolyte is that the first two episodes don't feel that original. George Lucas's Star Wars always felt unique, different, and alien. The show takes us to several worlds that weren't that distinct from one another. The story and the characters haven't wowed me yet. I'm interested, but they feel routine.
The first few episodes of The Mandalorian felt much more unique and alien. How is The Acolyte better than Kenobi?

The beauty of Star Wars is that it's the perfect setting to re-interpret stories that have existed for ages. You're right, a good twin/evil twin murder mystery is about as original as cooked meat, but the first two season of Mando were basically "What if Yojimbo.... in SPACE" and it was excellent. We haven't seen it as an element in Star Wars before, hence a fun way to re-watch a classic device but in a setting we all love.
The planets (I thought) were distinct enough from each other, even if none were unique to the overall setting. One was lush with vegetation and organic-looking structures, another was frozen and icy, another was dusty and industrial-looking. And Coruscant, because Coruscant. You got me on that one I guess. At least there wasn't a desert planet (yet).
I agree that Mandalorian S1 had a better 1st episode hook. It's hard to go wrong with an act-one barfight followed by a monster attack. That doesn't mean Acolyte's open (which also had a barfight of a different flavor) is bad by any means, it just means a 9.5/10 beats an 8/10. I'll **HAPPILY** watch an 8/10, at this point I just hope the rest of the show holds up to the intro.

Just as the Jedi’s support for a neo-liberal government led to the Republic’s fall into fascism, the Democrats’ unwavering support for problematic policies and leaders like Biden risks leading us down a dangerous path. We must critically examine and hold our leaders accountable to avoid repeating these mistakes. Great insights!

I wanted to see this specifically because of all the atrocious predictions coming from many quarters.
I'm not familiar with the High Republic period, I've only heard it mentioned a few times, but I came to Star Wars fandom late.
I did go on a road trip to see the first Star Wars movie with my college buddies two weeks before it would open in our town, and I did watch that movie twenty two times that summer because that's what we all were doing,
But I was there for the special effects. George Lucas was doing something completely new.
I was all about Star Trek and had little patience for this space opera.
It wasn't until The Force Awakens that I finally was finally all in on Star Wars and just couldn't get enough.
When The Mandalorian looked out the window at the Mandalorian flying alongside with a jetpack and said "I've gotta get one of those," I went back and binged The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels to learn what I could about the Mandalorians. I haven't read any of the books.
Ultimately, this new series feels like a light story. An unknown twin. It's a trope I've seen more than a couple of times now.
All of the performances are very good, and the tech is fun, but without a rebellion of some kind it really doesn't feel a lot like Star Wars to me.
I'm eager to hear more about what Mae has against the Jedi, and yes, the apothecary is particularly interesting. Yord is just a little too… Yord for me but I do like the contrast with Master Sol.
I'm feeling bogged down with Jedi administrivia. Maybe that's just the point. Maybe we'll find out who has been training Mae, because she's clearly been trained, but not by the apothecary, I think.
There's a lot here to keep me interested, but it feels like a squabble so far. What are the specific problems with the Jedi, besides the way they tend to over-talk everything?
I'm looking for background on what split up these twins to begin with and what their different experiences were.
Just how many of these "Jedi drop-outs" are there? There could be a lot of semi-trained Force-sensitives out there in the public. Though I was surprised that Osha couldn't reach her Pip from the prison cell.
Looking for more explanation of motivations. We know why Ahsoka left the Order, why did Osha?
"An Acolyte kills without weapons." But knives are steel and poison is a weapon.
"A Jedi doesn't use their light saber unless they are ready to kill." But Yord was using his as a flashlight.
It's Star Wars. It's not supposed to make sense.

And the last scene if the first episode stood out as feeling off, why is it broad daylight and he's standing on a rock? A more interestingly shot and lit scene would have more impact. And Yord viewing the fight through his binoculars when it seemed like he was right there and didn't need them made me laugh unintentionally. BUT I'm remaining optimistic on the show as a whole.

This basically sums up the show Master indra “ A jedi only draws their saber to kill” cut to a jedi knight using his lightsaber as a flashlight with out even an comment or throat clear.
Also the sith master is the twins mother only she know who has on the away mission that took osha and left Mei for dead.

drawing a saber in an actual fight is a completely different thing to using it as a source of light. why carry a separate flashlight when the object you have with you at all times works just as well?

18:50 yes, this is dumb too. you apprehended a supposed criminal who just killed a Jedi. I feel like this is Austin Powers level stupid but it's not intentional for laughs. Here we're gonna leave you with the one inept guard.

Episode 1 & 2 were not well written for me.
    Positive:
    1. I think kung Fu movies as inspiration for story elements is promising
    2. Seeing some logical expansions on force abilities ( meditation scene ) was cool
    3. Bones of a nice mystery
    4. Telling a story from a sith/ dark side perspective is a great idea
    5. Love Manuel Luis Jacinto
    6. Sol
    Negatives
    1. The dialogue was not working for her
    2. Why send a prisoner that can kill a Jedi with a droid
    3. Disney has a want to paint the Jedi as inept and always corrupt
    4. Yord topless - if a woman / female character was sexualized in this way for no significant plot purpose
    5. Hate Yord’s hair . Stop making killmomgers hair style the new school poster one black kid with high top Afro. Hated those posters cause it made it seem like that was our only hairstyle
    6. Telling the story from a darkside perspective is great but you don’t have to make the Jedi corrupt to do it
    7. “He’s gone come on”
    8. Set feel like sets or park attractions
    9. Boring I fell asleep at a point

i think there are a lot of missed opportunities, and the dialogue and editing are seriously janky.
like, dude's prattling about killing without a weapon, then lights up his red sabre? come on, man. that's real shoddy writing.
and they could've actually made something special here, as in, make Mei a purely hand-to-hand combat martial artist that targets pressure points on a Jedi's body to block their force use (like Tay Li of ATLA). That she can wield the force in small but very concentrated bursts, like force-needles, to pierce through the Jedi's force-fields, etc.
as it stands, this show is a diamond in the rough at best. better than Ashoka and The Mandalorian, definitely, but only by a few notches, imo.
i didn't really expect this one to be an Andor, but they really could've up the game here.

I feel the same way about the temple dialog and as someone who has consumed all of the high republic it was weird to see Vernestra like that. She's characterized very much like obi wan and her dogmatic tendencies are loosened up by the characters around her much like how Anakin is always able to take the wind out of obi Wans blow hard sails. We know Vernestra as a teenager so this characterization makes sense with her being stuck in the temple for 70 years without contact of those regular people that kept her grounded. Also they need to convey asap how dogmatic and up their own ass they are atm
