Anger isn’t a bad emotion. It doesn’t make you a bad person to be angry. Just be careful where you guide it.
I was thinking of this earlier, hatred and anger can be useful but they have to be controlled rather than letting them control you! Also, it’s healthy to be guided by many emotions at once, not just anger. If you believe in something, put all your human emotion into it, not just one.
THIS. One thing I've noticed, especially as an autistic person with a special interest in politics, is that the more I have educated my parents on my autism, the more they understand my frustration or anger isn't at them, but at the situations and atrocities in the world. It's helped a lot with getting rid of the "emotions shouldn't be in politics" environment, and having them listen and help talk with me and work through it instead of getting disengaged or upset.

That video was sickening. They made up excuses to not care about the Palestinian people and other events going on in the world on the grounds of "it doesnt affect you so why care?". What if that happened to you. Human beings arent perfect, but we shouldnt stand idly by while others starve and die. It's awful.

I personally think that human being are more inherently a blend of selfish and selfless. Where even your selfless actions can be self-serving, and even your selfish actions can be selfless.
Such as like wanting to make people happy, inherently it is selfless to make other people feel good, but it is self serving to create it for your own happiness.
So I made a comment about how adoption (especially in the states) is extremely unethical and some of y’all had questions about what else someone could do.
Guardianship and kinship! These practices allow for you to take care of a child but doesn’t strip them of their bio family. They can still access medical records of their family line (which wouldn’t be impossible if fully adopted), they would still have access to their bio family (which again, wouldn’t be possible if adopted), and this allows you (their guardian) and their bio family to actually have an open line of communication.
Private adoption is human trafficking. You’re BUYING a human. Children are placed on different costs depending on age, sex, race, disability, and more. Like dogs.
Now. This isn’t me saying all adoption is evil and anyone who adopts is inherently a bad person. If you were adopted from a terrible bio family and adore your adopted family that’s amazing! I’m genuinely happy for you. But adoption as a system is a multi BILLION dollar industry. You can find kids being rehomed on 😬📘.
And hell, the industry lies. All the time. I can’t count how many people I’ve met who were pressured and forced into giving up their child, or PROMISED an opened adoption (basically the bio family + adopted family working as a giant family to support the kid so they get everything they need) just so they would sign the paper and never be able to see their kids again.
Not to mention how that industry has been used to kidnap poc children around the world and sell them to whites families, stripping them of any and all cultural heritage. It was one of the main tactics when the British colonized the world.
Y’all don’t know how bad the industry is. Adopters will change the legal name and birthday of the child they adopt to make sure their bio family can’t locate them. And because they don’t have access to their bio family they don’t know who they’re related to (making it extremely possible they could date someone they’re related to) and they have no idea what type of genetic conditions they may have. Like if cancer runs in the family.
Children aren’t property. They shouldn’t be sold.

The industry is terrible, yeah, but rights for minors in general are terrible. Even as a minor, I felt like cattle. My year and a half in foster care only compounded this thought.

I just remembered something that happened about 2 weeks ago, and oh my god it was so embarrassing. 😭 It turns out when we went to the store to buy new earbuds we were staring at a display for 30 minutes in the store because it was one of those ones that needs to be unlocked by an employee and our social anxiety flared up badly so we ended up just staring at it like an npc..
The only reason we actually got them is because one of the employees walked up to us. The even worse part is that We didn’t hear them the first time so they had to actually walk into our field of view. 😭

we don't own any cats, but we have three dogs, a garden and neighbours who have three cats.
today, one of the cats was chilling in our garden, my dad didn't see him and let the dogs out, the kitty got scared and sprinted to our house, jumping on my little lovely doggo along the way.
then, it ran straight to my allergic to cats sister's room, saw her, got scared and hid somewhere, so me and my siblings where searching for him.
we finally found him and i took him to his garden, fortunately no one got hurt along the way.
to clarify, the cat jumped on my dog and then jumped on the terrace from my doggo, using him as a stepping stool, not jumped on my little lovely doggo to attack him.
Everytime I bring up falestine, even if js casual, with my friend, they get super weird and either change the subject or stay awkwardly silent until I bring up something unrelated.
It makes me so sick to not be able to talk to anyone about the situation irl :(
This might be an issue with your communication. Ask them questions about the topic and be willing to listen instead of moralizing and lecturing

We are late we were on that art grind , school back was very rough. To say the least. Pretty sure these group of people who I thought we were friends are avoiding us. No clue why but it just feels like they dont like us anymore as soon as we began feeling like they actually cared. So idk what we did so that was today.
As a disabled person, I'm glad to have found a good group here that actually discusses the issues and helps me stay informed on other disabilities, what I can do, and what people are doing to help spread awareness about helping us.

I really relate to the misreading of intentions as an autistic person. I usually play up my personality a bit so I can seem more polite and friendly, to fit in. But once I get more comfortable with people I just start saying things how I’d usually say them, which is more direct. People mistake me for being mean when im just trying to tell them something or state something. I think it catches people off guard because I act so differently when im not comfortable

I'm literally taking a race and racisms college course and the creation of race as a tool to create hierarchy and justify inhumane treatment of other people is still the most insane thing ever.
The last tiktok is fairly correct about Irish people throwing black people under the bus to become white and be accepted. In my course, they point out that most Irish immigrants didn't have the concept of race, so they literally had to learn their place and generally made the decision that they wanted to be white because obviously white people were on the top of the hierarchy.
Also interesting fact: Italians at a point in U.S. history were seen as just as undesirable and in some cases even more undesirable than black people. Italians were regularly lynched and there was a case where a white mob killed an Italian man accused of murdering a young girl, which sounds like eerily similar what white mobs did to black people. The interesting thing about this case was that a black man's witness account was used to prove the Italian man was guilty, showing that the white people were willing to listen to a black man to justify murdering an Italian. But obviously nowadays many Italians can safely claim whiteness in the U.S.. It also shows how many groups wanted to be accepted in whiteness for survival reasons (so even though Italians were treated horribly by white people, they still wanted to be white, because they wanted to live), and how black and indigenous people never really had a playing field because they were made to be the opposite of whiteness by default. They couldn't work their way up really or make white people perceive them as white because their existence was made into this idea that opposed whiteness.
It's literally the most interesting and depressing class I have taken 😀 but it's very good to know the history of race and how it is used, and the many forms of racism that exist. Understanding that race is cultural and political is so important to not becoming racist because most racists (who don't understand race) genuinely believe it's a biological difference.

I had Covid last week. I'm afraid of getting long covid but where i am and where I work almost NO ONE masks. Except for myself.
Anyways, at least my birthday is this friday and I'm going to be 24. I told myself I'd never get to this age and that after everything my abusive parents have done I wouldn't be able to start my life until 25 but I started T before then and met so many people that have been so sweet to me in the past 6 months that my life has entirely changed directions. They have no idea how much they mean to me and how much having a support group saved my life.

I wrote a fic abt our tf2 oc Sebastian Keller. he's a former Medic turned demon inspired by both Pathological Facade and a twitter artist's design of Alistair for a now discontinued rewrite of HH called Pretty Purgatory. we wont give out the artist's handle, but we do see Sebastian a lot as that person's Alistair design, mainly the face shape and mouth. Sebastian is dating the Medic in his main story, but we arent opposed to him being shipped with other characters. He died from impalement upon a flagpole via an enemy Sniper cornering him on a roof and then pushing him onto the pole, watching his dying body slide down. he has a scar where he was impaled, and the memories of his death still haunt him. Sebastian eventually does become a Medic again, but only with the help of Ludwig (THE Medic. He is referred to as mainly Ludwig to differentiate him and Seb). we already made a seb/ludwig fic on ao3 as a way to see how we would write seb in other fics. the fic is called remembrance, hinting at how it starts with seb remembering his death. i think this is the fjrst time we've ever given out the name of our fics. We were gonna name it after an HH song but after getting a good bit through the fic, i decided remembrance was a better title. if you find it and enjoy it, go ahead and leave a kudos, or dont, we appreciate people even opening our fic. im proud of it.

This is probably ignorance on my part, so I'm genuinely hoping someone can help me understand... I really want to be doing the right thing about masks and dealing with COVID, but I still struggle to understand how masks can be effective when only (estimating based on my observations) one in two-hundred people are wearing them.
Everyone around me in a crowd is still spreading it to each other regardless of what I do, and then I go home and take the mask off around my family who have been around everyone else with no masks on. I don't see how masks can stop or even slow the spread anymore unless everyone is wearing them
Even if it's not immediately effective, the more people that mask, the more people *see* people masking and hopefully that encourages them to mask as well. It helps to normalise it and also if everybody thinks it's pointless because nobody else is doing it then nobody will ever do it. Plus, even though it's a small chance, on the off chance that you have contracted covid and are asymptomatic it still makes a difference to the people you encounter in public.

I haven't seen any talk about the continuation of the pandemic and the impact of long COVID in Europe and France, I want to be responsible but also know why and how ? Well masking is still important, and make sure to have hand sanitizer! If you aren’t able to have a mask then try to be 6ft away from others. Long COVID lasted about a month or so in the bodies mom. There’s like.. 1M dead in the U.S but that could be wrong. -Nyx

I have some info about Covid, and its effects etc..
first off, why should you care about the impact of covid?
Well to put it bluntly it’s actively impacting your health every time you catch it, and with each and every infection you are closer and closer to to developing long covid, which will significantly impact you and the people around you.
why is long Covid so bad? ( you almost definitely will get long Covid upon the 8 - 10 th contraction of it.)
Long Covid can cause lots of negative side effects, including causing and worsening the following :
- diabetes
- Heart problems
- Mental health issues ( depression, anxiety etc..)
- Liver problems
- Brain fog
- Extreme physical and mental fatigue
- Brain damage ( loss of smell, taste etc.. )
And a couple more things I can think of right now, but those are the main concerns. As you can imagine these things especially impact people with disability’s and mental health issues but, even those without can still experience these!
Even if you don’t contract long Covid ( which is more and more likely with each infection ) it is still negatively impacting your health even if you catch it mildly.
- It lowers your IQ by 3 for every infection which can take up to a year or more to return to normal
- Mild brain fog
- Loss of taste ( that - in most cases - recovers in a few week / months which you still don’t want! )
- People who contracted it mildly at first can ( and usually do ) experience it a lot worse next time
- Can take 12 weeks or more to return to your normal self ( if you don’t get long covid ofc )
I’m sure there is more but I can’t think of any more rn.
It’s quite clearly not good to get it, but there are lots and lots of things you can do to prevent yourself from catching it!
How to protect yourself and those around you! : D
- big one is masking! It’s one of the best and easiest ways to protect yourself so long as your mask is well fitting and up to grade, try getting yourself an N95 or a KN95 as those have the best results
- Social distancing - 6 ft apart -
- Outside gatherings
- Air filtration! HEPA air purifiers are best but if those aren’t in your budget there should be a few alternatives
- Writing to governments to try and get them to clean up the air with purification systems, masking indoors etc..
- being vocal about the impact and how to mitigate it!
I really hope this helped! Most of this was off the top of my head but I believe it’s all fairly accurate ( I’m definite about the masks though! Please wear one!! )

Do you guys know if intrusive thoughts are still intrusive if you enjoy (i don't know if that's the right word) them? I wanna stop having them but when i am thinking them i can think on them more and i feel like i lik them but i also want to stop having those thoughts

Probably impulsive then. Intrusive means you inherently don’t like them. They cause you to be upset and uncomfortable. If it’s something you want to do/enjoy but know you shouldn’t (like dying your hair a new colour) that’s impulsive.

Not sure if this'll be any help to you but I know that sometimes your body will cause feelings of arousal when you get intrusive thoughts to help ease your freaking out, I know it happens to me so I have a hard time figuring out if I'm having intrusive thoughts or not. I saw in another comment that you have a therapist so you should def bring it up to them if it's bothering you quite a bit, bcs from what I know intrusive thoughts are normal unless they're excessive.
Also generally intrusive thoughts are intrusive if they come out of left field (like just popping into your head if that makes sense) and they are something that is considered not good morally.

Should i make another mask?
I have a an issue and would like some advice.
So showering is a really difficult task for me to do. I literally have to mentally prepare myself to shower. Like the before, during, and after, of when I shower all sucks and is very tiring. I am exhausted afterwards and it kinda sucks. It has led to the issue of me only being able to shower like once a week on a good day. So I was wondering if any of y’all have any tips on how to ease this process, maybe make it so I shower more than once every two weeks? Thank you!😊
Do things you enjoy as part of your personal grooming. Do you like music? Listen to your favorite tunes while bathing. You can also try meditating while bathing or showering. Relaxing yourself in a warm shower to power down, or using a cold shower to power up.
I’m late, but I have this same problem! Comes with the ‘tism.
One solution I have found is, if you have anyone accommodating in your household, you can set a ‘tea date’ right before a shower, and then go sit with them directly after. No pressure, no guilt, just motivation. I know it wouldn’t work for anyone, but it did for me, so I’d recommend trying it if you’re able.
Something to think about is what showering sensation is so repellent to you. For me, it’s temperature and the feeling of being wet, but I know a lot of other autistic people who hate the sensation of the water stream. They recommend getting a softer shower spout to make the spray more tolerable.
Others like bucket baths, though I find them cold and the cloths are too rough. I’m guessing you would have tried normal baths by now if you have access to an actual bathtub.
I know I’m two months late, but I still hope this helps.

i was just gonna drop a comment here about the masking/covid tiktok. i would love to still be wearing a mask. i have immunocompromised family and i worry all the time about getting them sick because i have a work study around younger children. the issue for me is that when i was the only person still wearing a mask at my school, one of my teachers called me out, went on an anti mask tirade, and then forced me to explain why i thought masks worked in front of a group of my antimask classmates who already hated me. i have pretty bad social anxiety + this teacher is notorious for not letting things go and not getting in trouble with admin (ive seen him pull a knife on a kid twice in class and not get reprimanded because ‘he was just joking, thats just how he is’ /gen). since then, whenever i wear a mask i get constant questions and weird looks from people and i cant ever find new masks to buy unless i order them. its wild how soon people just forgot that covid existed and hurt people and shifted to ostracizing and shaming people who just want to keep others safe. i cant wait till i move to a larger and more liberal area where i can hopefully be more proactive in my community safety. good news for me though, apparently the place i want to move to has a massive community garden, so i want to get a plot and grow some produce!

Don't: lower your chin and make your throat smaller. Just like when you are trying to sing higher you aren't supposed to raise your chin and stretch your throat. Don't move your vocal chords for them. You gotta practice and let your vocal chords exercise their muscles alone to actually make them stronger and reach better notes.
