      Do you still have this? Looking into getting a 2006 that needs a little work but has good bones. My only worry is the air suspension

    The green half circle to the left is your cruise control. It’s on. When I got mine I didn’t know what it was until I got on the Hwy and the car went into auto pilot.

    Do you still have this Cayenne?? How has it worked out for you, any big repairs?? I'm very seriously checking these out so I was just curious for a real world opinion/experience. Thanks!

    • @DIYDanCars
      @DIYDanCars  8 лет назад +1

      I do! I'm actually working on a 2 year ownership video. I'll put it this way, it hasn't been the most reliable car I have owned but it has been worth it. I only recommending buying one if you can wrench on them yourself. If I had to pay a mechanic for all the work that has been done I would be $5-6k lighter in the wallet. I have only owned the car 2 years and have driven around 12k miles. Porsche uses a lot of plastic in these cars and its not holding up to the test of time.

    • @Foxtechconsultants
      @Foxtechconsultants 8 лет назад

      Wow! Well I guess that's good and bad then. I do most of the work on my cars myself, yes. I rely heavily on youtube and mostly on all the forums for help on doing whatever repair job is due. I owned an 06 CLS55 and an 08 C63 right after that, and there was next to no required repairs on them, just basic maintenance, and both were tuned 500+HP cars! Owned the CLS for 2 years, the C63 about a year. Never owned a Porsche before so I was just curious. I'm saving for a 996TT so I was hoping the Cayenne could be my DD. Have a 2005 crapper Hyundai Sonata for work and city driving, running well surprisingly, haha.
      Thanks so much for the quick reply and the great info! Glad to hear you're still loving it :) I'll need to do some more research on the forums so I have a better idea of what to look for and plan on when/if I do get one. 👍 (I probably will, lol)

    • @Foxtechconsultants
      @Foxtechconsultants 8 лет назад

      DIY Dan Oh one more thing - Are you still averaging about 15mpg? Is it tuned or just stock? Just wondering if that improved or worsened since you got it. Thanks again man

    • @DIYDanCars
      @DIYDanCars  8 лет назад +2

      Yea, about 15mpg is all it gets, maybe 16 if you drive under the speed limit. Oh god yes its stock and is plenty fast just the way it is! I don't want you get the wrong impression of the car, its going on 11 years old so a lot of gaskets and seals are starting to get hard and need changing even though it only has 58k miles. The things that have surprised me that needed replacing were the water pump, idler pulleys, coolant-T's (bitch of a job), and wiper motor. Even Porsche wants $600 for a wiper motor, which is silly! Things that I weren't surprised about needing replaced were the valve cover gaskets, charge pipe seals, some coolant lines, and various vacuum lines (cheap plastic). After I have replaced all that stuff the car has been bullet proof reliable so far but it should be. lol
      Oh yea those are nice cars. I have a friend with a E55 (supercharged version) and its one heck of a beast. I love Merc's too but love there stuff from the 80's the most. Long live the W124 and W126!

    • @Foxtechconsultants
      @Foxtechconsultants 8 лет назад +1

      DIY Dan Nice!! Yes those old Mercs are amazing machines, totally agree. Thanks again for all this info, I'm making some preliminary notes so I have a head start haha. I subscribed to your channel, cannot wait for the 2 yr ownership video!
      I know what you mean, the wiper washer motor went out on the C63, and MB wanted $430 to repair it. The Bosch part was $19!!!! And it's an 30-60 minute job at most. It's crazy lol. Then the driveshaft flex disk started to crack, $120 part, also about an hour job. MB ... $890 to repair it, just crazy I tell ya. It really pays to be handy with cars, that is for sure. :)
      Well that's great. It's probably a lot of the same crap to fix/repair on the Cayenne as the C63 then, what a relief. It's turbo, so probably a couple more headaches than the C63, but still. I expect things to be in need of replacing, especially when purchasing a used Cayenne turbo with 50-80k miles on it, that's a given. I was just hoping it wasn't a dang fortune. Parts are about the same price as the AMG's, give or take a few bucks, so all good there!

    Does your climate control turn on automatically at startup even though it was turned off before shutting down?

      Sorry Anthony for the late reply as I just saw this. No it doesn't. If I turn the climate control off before shutting the car off it stays off until I turn it back on again.

    funny how people love bashing on the cayenne..
    an if it wasnt for the cayenne!!
    porsche would have been out of business along time ago.
    why would you want a fast car that only holds 2 people
    when you can have a car just as fast that can hold 5 people.
    and yes the cayenne makes more sense than the panamera .

    If its clicking then dont buy it! Its NOT The injectors rige The pistons!

    • @DIYDanCars
      @DIYDanCars  5 лет назад +1

      The clicking noise from a Cayenne's engine is completely normal. It is the injectors that are making that noise. If a Cayenne has scored cylinders, the noise is more of a knocking sound, not clicking. The best way I can describe it is a bad lifter.
