So many whine the show isn't as good without Ed, but Ant is really engaging and I think he explains what he's doing very well. He's not Ed, but he's good in his own right.
I'm a fan of Ant. He describes things well and he's taking a proactive approach to making to make the vehicle not only road worthy in the short run but also in the long run.
I'm a home mechanic with a 955 Turbo WLS (E81 Powerkit) and these cars are not as bad as people make out. Once you've tackled the neglect of people who didn't get it properly serviced in it's later years, they're pretty robust. Mine is rare in the UK, with the E81 Powerkit as these were a stop gap before the Turbo S, with basically all the parts of a Turbo S on it apart from the TPS, including the 19" brakes. I had to do coils, plugs, valve cover gaskets, cam actuator seals, full oil filer, trans oil and filter, diffs and transfer box fluid change. I replaced front upper and lower arms and drop links, plus refurbed the air suspension compressor with a new ring and seals. There were a few other niggles to sort, sticky PCM control knobs were replaced, rear camera replaced with a new internal camera unit from Alibaba, pan roof end position reset etc, but now it's a great, high spec comfy cruiser, also capable off road, which at the touch of a button is a 500bhp+ super saloon. The best £7,800 I ever spent, but the previous owner didn't know it was a WLS as they're just badges as Turbo's - you need to check for the E81 option on the build sticker. As a general rule when buying, if it has 19" brakes on 20" Turbo S wheels and is marked as a Turbo on an 06 plate, there's a good chance it will have the WLS spec of the E81 Powerkit option, adding 50-70bhp.
I honestly struggled at loosing Ed at first, and I'll always admire and love Ed, but damn Ant is one talented mechanic and I couldn't imagine Wheeler Dealers without him now 😅
I love the 955s.i fix almost everything on the suv myself.i also have a mechanic background, but anyone with tools,a repair manual, determination ,patience and balls can work on most of the repairs required to fix these suvs.the cayenne has amazing handling and is a unstoppable juggernaut in Canadian winters (I never get stuck in anything),it can also stop on a dime. I love these suvs, the only bad side I see on the n/a 4.5 v8 cayenne S is the horrific fuel economy. I get about 3.8 km/l //14.4miles/galon.
If the issue is with o-ring (1:35) wouldn't replacing the valve ($40) with the same factory o-ring eventually just bring back the problem? Wouldn't it be better to replace the o-ring with a higher quality $5 Viton o-ring? Reminds me of my BMW cpv that leaks oil due to the factory o-ring becoming dry, flat and brittle. The Viton o-rings are of much better quality and can withstand the heat better.

Probably because the stuff we actually want to watch gets cut out. Look at the 300ZX video. No introduction, just *bam* engine out and then they explain why. The USP of WD was always the repairs and now it’s Bulky Brewer speaking to his “contacts” and getting something cleaned or filing away exhaust pipes. Less brewer, more Anstead. Master Mechanic with Anstead was good but even that left a lot to be desired in regards to work taking place. So much of the screen time was him sat chatting because it’s quick and easy to film. WD has tanked since moving to America and it’s a shame because I think Anstead is perfect for the role. The role is letting him down.
My dad had a Lincoln with an air suspension. When the pump went out instead of buying one from Ford he bought a cheap tire pump took it apart and used it. Lasted for the rest of the cars life.
$400??? (Around £300) I have a Touareg which is the same car. It cost me less than £200 to fix with a new prop shaft, did it on my drive about 2 years ago. I’m a plumber by trade. 1 hours work. Why would you not do that? You have a lift?
It has a lot to do with things like finding one cheap enough, accessibility of parts and being able to sell it on for a profit. But the real core of the reason why is probably because they just weren't very good, they weren't very interesting and they weren't sold in great numbers. No one wanted them back in the 80's and no one really wants one now, except you perhaps.

You are mistaken, The turbo S was availible in with this bodystyle, without sport design package. There was also The E81 Powerkit availible for the Turbo, which makes a turbo a "turbo S" before the name turbo S existed for the cayenne. This can possibly be a E81, or it could be a turbo S. The final clue is in the brakes, it got Turbo S/E81 brakes, and considering the cost, it is very unlikely someone would fit them to a normal turbo. Ergo, it surely is a E81 or Turbo S. Cheers.
