That was really touching, to see that she got her life back again and no psychotropic drugs. I was diagnosed in the 70s and told I'd be on psychotropic meds the rest of my life. By the grace and goodness of God, I've been free of them since 1983.

That's awesome! God can do so much if we put our trust in him for guidance & strength!🕊 I had to take total custody of my son in order to get him away from the mentality of drugging a hyper-active child endlessly. I had already drastically changed his diet, then moved to a cleaner enviroment & homeschooled him. I never renewed his prescription. He did just fine & blossomed at home where there was no over-load of stimulation & he could grow into his particular strengths, learning at his own pace. He's a hard-working young man now that makes me proud! 👍🏼👍🏽👍🏾

I hate that in so many cases, they throw drugs at people because it takes too long to really help them. Everywhere is short staffed, so even those who sincerely want to do a good job are not allowed.

I know that I may not have a popular comment, but I also have to wonder what went on in the mother's life for her to think that it was ok to treat another person like this, especially her daughter. I'm so glad that this movie was uploaded. It may also show that neighbors who don't step in and help also contribute to the problem. Very good movie ❤

Your comment is fine. When I was growing up, I always wondered why my mother was so silent & appeared troubled. I didn't find out until after graduation she had suffered physical problems for a long time. We often don't know what others have been through.
And yes, neighbors can & should help. God has put us here to be his hands & feet on the earth. So many problems could be solved & people's lives healed just from simple acts of caring. If someone had intervened sooner, it would not have gotten so bad.

The biological mother is crazy. What is heartbreaking is that so many people in a position of power that were supposed to help this girl, and knew what this girl was going through, didn't do their jobs oranything to help her until the social worker came along and saved her.

It is so many times real life.
When the COVID hit there was a mom who was stuck at home w/ her children & started on an adventure of her own.
It's a podcast called Suffer the Little Children. She finds stories of children that suffer the ultimate betrayal of not only their parents but the system that didn't protect them. Every case she talks about ends in death, so it's not for the light hearted, it's the bare bones of what's going wrong w/ our system. Why do abusive parents have more rights than abused children until time & time again it's the child who pays the price.
You can let her know I sent you. 🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛

To be in a position to help other people, such as social workers, nurses, all personnel related to this kind of problems and situations , have to have a golden heart. This is not a regular job, this is devotion and true care for human beings, otherwise do not do the job.

I loved this movie! I've always liked Bonnie Bedelia in any role, and Annabeth Gish played her role well. It's hard to believe that any mother would lock up her daughter and deny her a life, but not everyone has the heart of a loving, nurturing mother. Thanks so much for the upload!

I WATCHED THIS MOVIE A LONG TIME AGO AND IT'S A REALLY GREAT INDICATOR OF HOW MUCH PARENTS CAN DESTROY THEIR CHILD WITH THE WRONG APPROACH,AND THAT CHILD PROTECTION SERVICES DO NOT ARRIVE IN TIME TO STOP ALL THE EVIL THAT IS HAPPENING.A GREAT LEADING ROLE BY A VERY YOUNG ACTRESS AT THE TIME, WHO LATER BECAME FAMOUS IN THE CRIMINAL SERIES. BOTH WERE PERFECT FOR THEIR ROLES, AS WELL AS THE CHARACTER OF THE MOTHER AND THE POOR GIRL.I LIKE THE MESSAGE THAT MEDICINES DO NOT SOLVE ANYTHING, BUT WARMTH, SUPPORT AND SECURITY OF THE ENVIRONMENT. YOU DO NOT NEED TO HAVE A LOT OF MONEY FOR THAT,ALREADY DEDICATE TO A PERSON WHO HAS EXPERIENCED A CRASH IN LIFE.BEING IN NATURE, HAVING YOUR OWN DIGNITY AND SOMEONE WHO WILL ALWAYS BE THERE IS IMPORTANT.MY RECOMMENDATION TO WATCH THE FILM AND GREETINGS FROM ZAGREB, CROATIA!!

I love Bonnie Bedelia. She was great in the series Parenthood.

Whenever we feel the pressure mentally, somehow we try to say "let's give it a shot once again"... that's why Karen felt the heat everytime she was down mentally👍

If you can find it, can you upload the 1991 movie Switched at Birth? Bonnie Bedelia is also in that film and I can’t find it anywhere. Thanks!

WHAT A GREAT FILM! In these days hopeless times it is like a good fairy tale to have a rest for while moving by the film's plot to a place and time where can be a chance and hope for a good life, not being in Russia, Altay, Biysk. ON the other hand, it is better than be in Gaza Sector, nobody have effectively stepped in for those people to stop them from being slaughtered very daily or rather literally wiped out from the face of earth instead of actual terrorists responsible for the attack on Israel civilians. Whose collective responsibility is this crime? I refer to those who loudly declare that all residents of Russia are responsible for Putin's decision on the 24th of February 2022 with whom I deeply disagree. I never voted for him to be the president of Russia and there is no means for me to prevent him to be elected again as I am in minority or just all alone with my civil position, at least it feels like this, not emotionally, but by social situation. For present, I literally killed, socially killed, by the robbing law and see no way both effectively and legally oppose this elimination of mine from behalf of the law. I would like to have hope like this film's characters.

That shower scene hit home for me. I did the same for my son. He does have schizophrenia.
