It’s really only connected to the radio with a USB cable to do a digital mode. The box between the laptop and the 12v battery routes power from a solar panel to the battery and the laptop and radio can attached to draw power from the battery while providing some power monitoring.

Have you openned it up? Is the 128GB SSD in an m.2 slot? SATA or NVME?
M.2 SATA, but I haven’t changed it. 128 GB is fine for what I am using it for.
