My hair is wavy but only some days and others it's pin straight and I just have to guess which it's going to be after a shower haha [: Mixed race hair textures go brrr
Real 😭😭
Omg are you me
Your hair has DIFFERENT PERSONALITY ORDER
Realllllll people never pay attention to the confusing hair of us mixed race kids (other than half African people)
My hair was pin straight as a toddler but then at 5 slight waves started showing, now it depends on how my hair dries 😭
I'm so glad that you posted this! As a fine-haired wavy girly I struggle SO MUCH with getting definition and not weighing my hair down with product. I am in absolute awe that you are able to get a wash day to last 2-3 days.
I feel you!! These products would probably work really for you bc they’re pretty light and don’t weigh hair down. Just don’t use too much and experiment with only using 1 or 2 together! Something like the The curl smith styling soufflé could also work well for finer hair 😊
me too omg!! my hair is also low porosity so heavy products don't work well with my hair
Having a bonnet helps. I am in this boat too.
This is EXACTLY the straightforward explanation I really needed! My hair is exactly like yours and I've been struggling with what order to do everything in! Thank you!!!
I’m so glad this helped!🫶

My hair looks a lot like yours. I just cant understand how i am not supposed to brush my hair😅😂 It gets tangled really easily and i would HATE to get my hair wet and crunch it Again EVERYTIME i need to brush them😢 I think my hair is just broken😢😅
You could try brushing your conditioner into your hair while in the shower (use a Wet Brush or something safe for soaking wet hair). It makes your hair really smooth and tangle free that way you don't have to brush and break up your curls. Also I would try a leave in conditioner after you get out of the shower
Look up finger detangling if you want to know how to get rid of tangles without brushing!
Thank yall☺️
Use a lot of oil on your middle and ends and use a wide tooth wooden comb to gently comb through your hair (if you don’t want to get it wet to detangle)
Don’t ever dry brush your hair either only do comb your hair before you take a shower
Thank you for a really great simple video to actually show the steps without fuss. And bonus, I can get all these products in the UK!!
Idk fs rn if my hair is straight or a bit wavy, it depends on how it dries(air drying makes it wavier & using a hair dryer js makes it straight w a few streaks of hair being wavy), as i got older my hair got shorter & wavier. Im just glad there are people who are able to help others recognize their natural hair type which they didn't know of before and now they know how to care for their hair properly & embrace the natural hair(if they want to)
A hair drier (w out diffuser) will always make your hair dry straighter bc it forces the wave/curl to drop out, so your hair is likely wavy and just needs a bit of help
In my case I only have my natural wavy hair after washing it, after that I HAVE TO brush it everyday, just cause I don't like the idea of not brushing it, I feel so uncomfortable. So I lose my curls/waves and it's more frizzy and has bigger waves, cause I can't be bothered having to get it wet EVERY TIME
You could try a curl refresh spray, Umberto Giannini (the brand used in the video) make one and it makes my hair so soft
I feel the same. My scalp needs a good brushing tbh
thanks queen! love a 5 minute video and how easy you made everything to follow
Yay!🫶
As much as I scrunch the back of my hair never gets wavy 😫
@@minapau3422 it’s very common to have different textures throughout your hair even though it’s annoying 🫠
I have bought the products! So I am going to follow it rn!
Yay!
Did it work? 👀
That’s exactly how my hair air drys too, it’s always been frizzy and fluffy and I had no idea how to style my curls but I know I have them
Trial and error! 🫶
Im lazy so I just apply my products directly in the shower. Unless im going for a different result, 90% of the time I go for a messy beachy wave similar to yours!
Love that! I definitely don’t diffuse every time and love a good low effort wash day 🖤
@@melindab I haven't diffused my hair in like 6 months 😅. I don't mind the elongated waves I get and mousse/foam gives me the volume I love. Sometimes I don't even microplop and just let my hair air dry from soaking wet to really elongate my waves!
Guys ok so I have lived my whole life thinking I had straight hair but every time I sleep I wake up and it’s flipping out at the ends and I always have to flat iron it in the morning to make it look good. I saw other girls who didn’t know they had curly or wavy hair and I was like ??? So I just hopped in the shower, conditioned my hair, scrunched RELENTLESSLY for like 45 minutes, and then plopped (?) my hair and it’s like, ever so slightly wavy?! Like it’s not extremely obvious, but it’s definitely not pin straight. Maybe my waves (if I have any) have been damaged by how much I flat iron it? Idk I’m gonna try some product in it tomorrow and see what it does. Tbh it looks somewhere in the 1c range rn but maybe the products will define it better. Has anyone else had an experience like mine?
It’s weird too because my face framing layers definitely waved up and then they fell out some. The rest of my hair is just barely wavy. I low key am having an identity crisis 😭😂
@@JeremyHillary-kw4ms I would try a strengthening product to help with the damage. Try the not your mothers curl talk cream and mousse and see what it does 😊
@@melindab I’m just now seeing this comment but I bought not your mother’s curl talk cream earlier today lol! I tried that with their curl talk leave in conditioner and function of beauty’s zero gravity mousse and I have baby waves forming!! This is wild, who was gonna tell me my hair was wavy this whole time 😂
How do you avoid brushing it the next day? My hair looks a lot like yours and the next day i just desperately want to brush. Everyone says not to, but i hate the way my head feels if i dont. Of course, i have brushed my hair multiple times a day for de ades...
If you really need to brush it, you’ll need to spray it down with water and fully saturate it with water, brush it then add a bit more gel and rescrunch. I never brush mine but it doesn’t bother me :/ I just detangle in the shower and I’m good! You don’t need to be tangle free with wavy hair. We shouldn’t be running our fingers through it anyways 😬
My hair is naturally wavy, but no matter how light the products I use, my hair ends up weighed down and basically straight if I try to add any gels or mousses. No wavy hair routine for me 😂
@@-danny. interesting! I’m willing to help you troubleshoot if you wanna message me on Instagram!
I've been trying to stay away from gel and curl creams, because they make my hair feel very product-y (i don't diffuse) Yesterday I tried air-drying with just using a smoothing cream (I used Bed Head after party Super Smoothing cream) and it turned out pretty well. It feels soft and doesn't look super frizzy. I'm trying different 1-2 product routines with what I already have to try and find gold.
I dried my hair in space buns and used sulfate-free shampoo-condish.
What's your hair porosity?
I could never rake my fingers through my hair so easily after a shower. It takes painstaking 10-15 minutes to detangle with a comb. It seems like no hair influences ever have 1 tangle in their hair lol
Have you tried brushing it in the shower with a Wet Brush while the conditioner is still in it? That works for my daughter’s hair. Mine is stick straight so it’s all trial and error figuring out what works for her, which is why I’m watching this!
My hair really doesn’t get tangly but I also do detangle in the shower with conditioner! Do you do that? What you see in the video is my second detangle just to apply products
I detangle in the shower with conditioner and then I don't touch it with a brush or comb until my next shower lol
Use a wide tooth comb in the shower before you rinse your conditioner out-it’s made a big difference for me!
My hair looks poofy and all over the place when I let it self dry and don't touch it with a brush, soon as I brush it, it gets straight as an arrow. Some years ago I stopped using heat on it, it's been drying very fast since then and are healthier. I tired this method, (not the hair drying part though).... but alas didn't do anything.
My hair is extremely tangled so I tried brushing mine in the shower with conditioner in it like someone suggested in the comments below, could that be the reason it doesn't work?
Maybe my hair is drying this way because it's healthy and not wavy?
I just recently found out i have wavy hair. This is a simple routine. I cant wait to try it out on my next wash day🙂
@@RachelHaynes-iq6ly so exciting!
Before washing my hair looks straight.. Aftee washing it looks wavy;) now I'm confused about my hair type;)

Glad it was helpful!
Thank you so much...this is a video i was looking for a long time.
My wavy hair looks so messy I have to physically stop myself from brushing it out
do you use heat protectant or no? I'm composing my shopping list lol.

This is beautiful, thank you for sharing - can I ask how you sleep with it? This is why my issue lies 😭🤣
Get a bonnet fr fr or I put my hair in a super high bun and put a claw clip as close as I can to the middle/beginning of my scalp closest to my forehead. Make sure it’s pretty loose unless your hai is short then a bonnet fs
Yes, I have the same hair. Good tips thanks.
You are so welcome!
Thanks for the video! It was super helpful to see how you style your hair on wash day. What do you do the day after, like what would be a good morning routine for a non-wash day? I’m not sure what I should do with my hair when I wake up and it’s all messy 😅
Okay don’t laugh but I just turned 60 and my hair has changed so much omg hate it anyway I have 2b one length hair until I can get to the dressers my hair is like 2a underneath and 2b on the top except for the back of my head by the end of the part it so freaking bad it actually springs up I mean even in the shower so I guess I may have 2c as well back there anyway it’s driving me crazy. Any advice on what would help lay that down? I’ve done a honey c-oil treatment I’m so confused I found you on google and you say too use protein I’ve already spent a fortune on stuff with no luck 🍀 ola-plex6 leave in conditioner and a gel by Quidad heat and humidity no luck still. Which is the best way to start off would you recommend protein and then these products? HELP.
What kind of shampoo and/or conditioner do you use? Do you use sulfates and silicones?
@@Merelmay007 I use a variety! I don’t purposely avoid silicones and sulfates. I like a lot of the umberto giannini shampoos and conditioners, I like briogeo and even some drugstore ones! I’m not too picky with those. I’m more picky with stylers
What do you do with the hair when it is tie to sleep?
Hi, is your hair kinda coarse too? Just curious
My hair has the slightest wavy when it air dries but idk if that means I has wavy hair or if it’s just the way my hair dried anyone know? 😅
Ok there is One thing . When I put shampoo on my hair or comb my hair with my hands like you did . A lot hair fallz out like all the hair pull out and i don't even feel pain like WHAT IS WRONG With my HAIR
Okay but the real question is what do y'all do for day 2 hair post workout😭 your girl is STRUGGLING
@@p.soo_680 lots of girls blow dry their roots then refresh. I just shower after I get sweaty so I try to plan my wash days around sweaty activities. But it’s not too hard bc I don’t work out consistently 😜
My hair literally puffs up like that 😭
my hair like yours when i dont use conditioner or hair mask, but when i do, my hair is pin straight. so im kinda confuse abt my own hair, because sometimes its super frizzy and wavy, but sometimes its healthy and pin straight :(
Do you use anything at night like a bonnet to help preserve the curls and avoid frizz?
Please name the 3 Umberto Gianini products
Wtf is that diffuser is that shai-hulud
My curls don’t last when I try this. But I only use the ouai curl crème. I also do it on wet hair, what do i have to do?
McKenzie Union
What products do you use ?
How do you keep your hair nice and wavy between washes? I find mine gets really tangled and matted if I don't brush it but I loose the curls if I do brush it
@@dailydoseofsparkle365 I spray it with water to get it damp, spray a little leave in then lightly Finger detangle, add a little more gel then diffuse! That helps my wash last a little longer
@@melindab Thank you so much! I'll give that a try : )
How long do you wait to do your hair after you get out of the shower? When you start does the hair have to be more wet than dry?
@@aprilcherrybomb soaking wet hair is ideal. I squeeze some water out in the shower, put my robe on and start styling immediately. This gives me better curl clumps and tighter waves. If I style on damp hair my hair ends up more stringy and beachy so it just depends on your preference! I like both
@@melindab thanks for responding!
Haha, I fell for the title. Nah girl, my hair is pin-straight and can hold no wave for londer than an hour lol 😂
So I have her wave pattern, that level of wave. HOWEVER not all over my entire head. Some areas are straighter than others, so it never comes out even. It is easier to just blow dry all of my hair straight and flat iron the more stubborn wavier sections
If all of my hair has the same wave pattern, I would do this (her) routine more often because it’s so pretty
I’ve tried all of these but no matter what my hair does not survive sleeping. The waves flatten out by the morning and I use a silk pillow case or even a bonnet together at the same time.
@@zekaay mine too! I just use a refresh spray or a spray bottle of water and add a little more product the next day
Have you tried wet hair, plaited and sleep? That works with no product for me x
Can you give us more details about that? I have the same problem, I have minimal waves and they get super flat after sleeping espacially since I have huge sleep issues and cant sleep with those weird 'pineapple style pony tail' or something like that :(
I’m confused when I shower I notice some waves and started notice when I was like 8 and now I notice it in the front like tiny waves so Idk what to think 🧐
Hi I love this vid and have a quick question❤ When I did this routine my hair felt like straw do u have any tips?😅

Beautiful hair! ❤ mines just straight lol
The top of my hair is straight but the bottom is curly how do I fix this
It happens because your ends weigh down the roots. Cutting them shorter especially in layers might help. But sometimes it's impossible fix. And you should be careful with cutting your hair shorter because if you have a very loose pattern it might make you hair appear straight
That was so informative thank you so much 🤝
Wow nice lion
Do you brush your hair in between washes? Do the curls stay in?
@@bmcdermott If I need to brush it, I’ll do it right before I wash it but I typically just detangle in the shower. My curls last differently based on the wash day but overall, they are pretty low maintenance the next day or 2. I wash my hair every other day or every 2 days
Apologies if I missed it in the video but how long does it take your hair to dry with the diffuser? I haven’t used one in years because I am just so impatient.
@@JessyD_NYC 15 minutes for damp hair, 45 for soaking wet hair. Plopping first helps reduce that!

@@katiewinwood7645 if I remember to then, yes!
i dont get it, i tried several products , several different vidoes/ techniques and eery time i scrunch or flip and scrunch or try to use a difuser it just tangles up and it just breaks up the curl locks into frizzy individual strands and end up looking frizzy and tangled throughout the day 😐 it def never lasts , i have to end up washing it every day cause then its so frizzy and a rats nest that it has to be washed to start over- and how low is the difuser even on lowest it looks like my hair is in a wind tunnel
Your hair should definitely not be blowing around at all. You might need a new diffuser. Wavy and curly hair needs gentle air flow that won’t disrupt the curls as they set. Also, you need a little more product when you diffuse
You can definitely try air drying if you don’t wanna buy a new diffuser though! I love air drying
Is your hair high, low or normal porosity?
@@Rebel-c9e low!
@@melindabthe leave in product contains dimethicone, dimethiconol and wheat protein. How does your hair react to that. I struggle to find anything for low porosity hair that doesn’t contain protein or coconut oil or castor oil.
How do you brush it after you sleep though?
@@Aria1913 I don’t! My hair doesn’t get that tangly. If it needs a light detangling, I’ll get it damp and add some leave in and gently finger detangle. If it needs a full detangle, I’d brush it out and wash it but that’s not often. Styled waves don’t need to be totally tangle free bc you shouldn’t be running your fingers through it
I fear that after I do this routine after I brush it it will go back to straight-ish 😭
@@MiaTang-klancy you definitely don’t wanna brush styled wavy hair 😬 I only brush before a shower if meeded

Hi! What is the name of the product brand you are using?
My hair is so bipolar😭
Instead of two products, use light hold mousse. Using two products for wavy/curly hair WILL actually weigh it down. (And also make it look like ramen noodles.) Also, if you use the diffuser while your head is upside down, you can dry your roots first, that way, your ends wob't get dried out. Also, you don't want it to completely dry, it's bad for your hair. Curly hair is course and should be treated gently and with as little heat/product as possible.
