Awww that moorhen chick soooo cute!! I really am enjoying the through the hedge series so interesting. Changing the subject in your film i saw a girl in a canoe or kayak, I immediately thought of you two that would be so funny watching you both on the water or in the water lol Thanks for sharing another great video
Looks like folk are appreciating this new series, so well done on this new angle that's also given you guys a new interest - might even lead to a little handbook one day - or series - one for each canal/river...
Yay! I’m from Great Linford (my folks still live there) Thanks for featuring it and the brick kilns, the village and Manor are really pretty and the Nags Head pub is worth a stop too! :)
Well I can say I throughly enjoyed this as all others your great should do a series on TV you both got that double act thingy well done girls keep posting xx
A lovely vlog, the brick kilns were a very interesting part of the local history, Anna was really having a blonde day, especially as you had just read the cheat sheet. 👩🦳👩🦰😺😽
you complete pair of nutters !! watching Kath point this way that way left /right reminds me why I ask my wife to drive on the long distance drives , reason being getting told 400 yards from a roundabout we are going right then being told no no no we are going left just wtf lmao this vlog is bar the funniest by a mile ,keep em coming form one nutter to a pair of nutters you rock
Ladies, another good video! There are a few places in the states where they maintain places of history. But i love how in England you can go through the hedge and those types places are just there. That's what i wish i could see ous all those types of places. Keep those through the hedge posts coming
Thanks Girls, Anna was right our Australian history is all fairly young in comparison although we do have old Brick Kilns near Cessnock, New South Wales that look like those you showed us although I don't know how old they are, but they have been preserved.
Thanks for taking us through the hedge! I’ve been to MK so many times and had no idea it was so lovely and had history! The centre is so modern and full of roundabouts and straight roads it’s great to see a different side of it! x
Another thoroughly enjoyable, relaxing video of your travels and explorations. How nice is the countryside in May when all the leaves are opening and tree blossom. The brick kilns were a good subject, think “Through The Hedge is Great” you never know what’s to discover next? Looking forward to the next Vlog, take good care, happy boating. 🙂
I love the new series. I’ve always wondered what is lurking just beyond the hedges that line the canals in your main series. It’s quite cool to find that there are shops with little walkways for access to the canal and tow path and that there are of course historical parks with remnants of the old canal uses. Cheers from the United States of America!
OMG - you were literally a stones throw from my house! Years ago the ponds by the brick kilns used to have big shoals of golden rudd (a bit like goldfish) in them, now sadly gone, but still a really pretty and peaceful spot. When I was a nipper me and my mates used to go fishing there and on that stretch of canal. Really enjoyed watching the video, as always 👍
It's like watching a Burns and Allen routine. You are so cute, and very informative 😉 Who could have known you had such an interest in bricks. Keep up the good work. Love to Alice and Munchie ❤
really interesting, thanks for sharing, love a bit of history! must be all sorts of historic points/landmarks along the canals as they have been around for so long.
that was great! you're both great tour guides for these spots we would all probably miss, plus your encouraging us to go walk places we wouldnt normally! excellent work! arent you glad your not stuck in a marina now? i know i woukd be if i were you both at the moment! 😊 keep on cruising and exploring those long (well maybe not long) forgotten places etc, we appreciate it lots!
Love the way on cue you both turned around to check your facts 🤣 loving tth . Countdown has properly begun til crick. Mags and i are of on our first proper cruise straight after through Rugby , Hillmorten and on to Braunston... so excited.
That was great girls but lord it must have cost a fortune to build a brick house back then because the kilns are not very big. But I loved your TTH 2 keep em coming. Thank you
This is VERY unusual for me, but I do feel I have to correct Kath...through the hedge in Welsh, I think you'll find is... drwy'r clawdd...although there does seem to be too many vowels in there for Welsh, and definitely not enough L's!!! :)
Crick was good fun and nice to chat with you both again. I hope the weekend was profitable for you :) This is where Anita is exhibiting for the next two weeks... www.hoxtonarches.com/2018/04/prism-transient-30th-may-to-the-10th-of-june-2018/ Shame you're not still moored in London!
about twenty mins away from the brick kilns is blechley park the second world war code breaking center its expensive to get in but your ticket is valid for a year and it is brilliant
How do you build a kiln to make bricks from bricks if you don't have a kiln to make bricks? Wood fired, or did canal boats bring in coal to fire the kilns?
I’m sure I saw mrs moorhen out for a meander with her two mini moorhens😯 I do like Moorhens they won’t put up with any trouble from those ducks I’ve had ducks given a good peck when trying to bully Mrs Moorhen into giving up the bread I threw out my boats side doors. When I come back from work I open the side door and Mrs Moorhen comes over with youngsters, she hides them the other side of the canal then heads over to get some bread, she’s got so used to me she’s almost right underneath the door BUT when those dodgy ducks come along there’s always trouble brewing but Mrs Moorhen doesn’t suffer bullying ducks she sorts them out pretty quick and let’s them know who’s boss. Considering the ducks are about three times the size of a Moorhen and the male ducks at this time of year seem to hang out in packs and quite aggressive at times this one Moorhen jostling with about seven or eight squabbling ducks is not to be messed with😂🤣
"THROUGH THE HEDGE" We need a drawing of two comely bottoms where beyond the torso is forward into the hedge! So boring the brick. True someone must love the subject! Cheers,
And shame on you Anna!!! Australia has LOTS of history going back WAY before 1788, it's just that it's the indigenous people's history. (I know you know this really....just pulling your leg :) )
Yes, of course, what I meant- and I'll Anna- s-plain it to you is that you cannot walk down a canal and see this type of history as a matter of fact instead of an early part of Australian history.
I guess the real thing is the early history of Australia wasn't in what is now the large cities. Or, if it occasionally was, it has just been over-written because it wasn't thought important.
I love seeing the beautiful scenery in your area.....what a lovely pace of life you have now.....Thanks for sharing!!!
Thanks Anna and Kath really enjoyed looking through the hedge xx
A very bucolic episode of, Through The Hedge.
Thanks for taking us along on your adventures.
Awww that moorhen chick soooo cute!! I really am enjoying the through the hedge series so interesting. Lovely video! Nice relaxed pace on a warm summer day!!
Looks like folk are appreciating this new series, so well done on this new angle that's also given you guys a new interest - might even lead to a little handbook one day - or series - one for each canal/river...
Great idea! We are enjoying the filming too and it does encourage us to go exploring more too.
Yay! I’m from Great Linford (my folks still live there) Thanks for featuring it and the brick kilns, the village and Manor are really pretty and the Nags Head pub is worth a stop too! :)
Well I can say I throughly enjoyed this as all others your great should do a series on TV you both got that double act thingy well done girls keep posting xx
thank you :) you always make me smile .
Very interesting. I enjoy history and all the beneath/through/over/behind/under the hedge series.
That’s really interesting, thanks. I loved the Welsh at the beginning, I didn’t realise Kath was fluent in the language! 😁xx
Thank you Kath for trying to use my suggestion of "Trwy'r gwrych" at the start, gave me a good giggle. As did the rest of the video.
I practiced it and everything! As you may have guessed, speaking welsh isn't a skill I have mastered ;-)
I'm fluent in gobbledygook but not Welsh.
Loving the through the hedge videos. Please keep doing them.
Looking forward to seeing you both at Crick x

Loving Through the Hedge :)

That was lovely. I love the “into the hedge/through the hedge” series. You both make the best tour guides!
Maybe we should start doing some proper research... ;-)
The Narrowboat Experience ha! I like your ad hoc approach! It’s very entertaining x
Love the music too. Great video :-)
Ladies, another good video! There are a few places in the states where they maintain places of history. But i love how in England you can go through the hedge and those types places are just there. It is nice to see history preserved. Thank you both for another wonderful video :)
It is allways a pleasure to watch you two girls clowning around. 👍🏻👍🏻
First commercial brick kilns in Aus were at Parramatta in 1790.
Great series. Love all the history. Maybe see you both at Crick ?
Thanks Girls, Anna was right our Australian history is all fairly young in comparison although we do have old Brick Kilns near Cessnock, New South Wales that look like those you showed us although I don't know how old they are, but they have been preserved.

There were so many parks for us to visit, if only we'd had more time to stop and enjoy them.
Another thoroughly enjoyable, relaxing video of your travels and explorations. How nice is the countryside in May when all the leaves are opening and tree blossom. The brick kilns were a good subject, think “Through The Hedge is Great” you never know what’s to discover next?

We are keeping an eye out for more places to visit. Who knows what we will find!!

We are hoping to find lots more things to share as we work our way around the system.
By the way, what did that warning sign say? I’m comedically assuming it was a health and safety sign warning of the existence of a pond?
OMG - you were literally a stones throw from my house! Years ago the ponds by the brick kilns used to have big shoals of golden rudd (a bit like goldfish) in them, now sadly gone, but still a really pretty and peaceful spot. I saw something about fish and spent quite a few minutes studying the water like a weirdo. No wonder I couldn't find them!!
Love these Ladies !
Brilliant series!! Who knew there was so much history just through the hedge! Thank You 🐱🐶🐱
Just a quick message to say lovely to meet you today!
It's like watching a Burns and Allen routine. You are so cute, and very informative 😉 Who could have known you had such an interest in bricks. Keep up the good work. Love to Alice and Munchie ❤
ohh exciting to see what was the other way from the nene
really interesting, thanks for sharing, love a bit of history! must be all sorts of historic points/landmarks along the canals as they have been around for so long.
We are now always on the lookout for some!
I enjoyed the video and I gave it a "Like."
Into the hedge - sounds like you're sparrows going to build a nest!! Beautiful filming and beautiful guitar.
that was great! you're both great tour guides for these spots we would all probably miss, plus your encouraging us to go walk places we wouldnt normally! excellent work! arent you glad your not stuck in a marina now? i know i woukd be if i were you both at the moment! 😊
keep on cruising and exploring those long (well maybe not long) forgotten places etc, we appreciate it lots!
We are having a great time exploring and cruising. Glad you are enjoying the videos.
Anna, you are fantastic, Never wrong but all so incorrect, a professional teacher. Love it. By the way, Mother was a school teacher, Oh hell! Cheers
Hey ladies. A short way north along the canal and you’ll get to Linford Manor - definitely worth a walk around!
Thanks for the tip
Love the way on cue you both turned around to check your facts 🤣 loving tth .
Countdown has properly begun til crick. Mags and i are of on our first proper cruise straight after through Rugby , Hillmorten and on to Braunston... so excited.
Thats great - the weather is perfect for cruising. See you at Crick.
Thanks for sharing lovely Vlog again Cheers
I wonder how deep the ponds were - they didn't look too deep. It didn't look as though there would be too many bricks made from them. Cheers!
so now I'm intrigued as to where they got the bricks to build a brick built brick kiln!
I wondered the same thing. There wasn't much information online about it either.
That was great girls but lord it must have cost a fortune to build a brick house back then because the kilns are not very big. But I loved your TTH 2 keep em coming. Thank you

Good to hear from you Ronnie, hope you had a good weekend.

Near the end I liked the peculiar duck followed by the peculiar baby ducks which then went for a swim.
Good girls all my best Gerry
lovely video thank you
greetings,, Kitty.
about twenty mins away from the brick kilns is blechley park the second world war code breaking center its expensive to get in but your ticket is valid for a year and it is brilliant
no doubt about it ; you two are a couple of bricks.......I have booked my seat for tomorrow....bring on the popcorn .
You could have visited Bletchley where the code breakers broke the German U-boat code in Ww2.
How do you build a kiln to make bricks from bricks if you don't have a kiln to make bricks? Wood fired, or did canal boats bring in coal to fire the kilns?
There is a Facebook group called “brick of the day” my mother added me to it! You should join and add a pic of the kilns 😊
Please show us the edge of the hedge! I just had to do that.
I've not found one to jump through yet...
ah ! . . . Moorhens :)
Only one little duck came back? ...... Must be great Pike #Fishing there ..... #OOPS!! :-(
I’m sure I saw mrs moorhen out for a meander with her two mini moorhens😯 I do like Moorhens they won’t put up with any trouble from those ducks I’ve had ducks given a good peck when trying to bully Mrs Moorhen into giving up the bread I threw out my boats side doors. what came first ; the brick OR the brick kiln ?
Kath if you correct Anna one more time I think you will be able to rename it " Kath through the hedge" lol
1911 is a special year for me but I won't say on the web. no I'm not that old!
:)
where's my daily video girls ?
Hi, it was amazing to meet you except I don’t know why I turned into a dithering idiot!!!!!
And shame on you Anna!!! Australia has LOTS of history going back WAY before 1788, it's just that it's the indigenous people's history. (I know you know this really....just pulling your leg :) )
