A few random observations: A great vlog on how you support yourselves living on a narrowboat. Life is more than economics, so I suspect you two never estimate how much you earn per hour in such a labour-intensive business; such comparisons make no sense when you measure personal satisfaction and a healthy, relatively stress-free lifestyle. Your stresses are of a different magnitude and can’t be part of any purely economic spreadsheet. All this shows up, over time, as you share your life with us. I notice when you switch to speeded up mode, the cat remained relatively motionless! Wise kitty. I love the hailstorm shot through the cat flap. I also love the artistic way you show us a variety of shots of the buildings and things that interest you on your travels. I particularly liked the avenue of trees near the end. Above all, I think we all recognize a loving relationship with all its complex challenges, and your vlogs reflect this. Stay well you two. John, Ontario, Canada
You have thousands and thousands of followers but its not because of any one of you and that includes both cats. Its not going through locks, we've done hundreds by now going up and going down in all weathers its not just the scenery ,glorious rural vistas or grubby graffiti stained urban industrial sprawl. Its you Kath and Anne Marie, your indomitable character ,you tackle some crazy projects and always succeed in the end and with a smile .Its your care and respect for others love of nature and things beautiful and historic. and each other, that comes through loud and clear constantly. You and I have never met yet I count you as friends I see every week .Thank you so much for just being my friends Kath and Anne Marie.
it really is no ones business how you make your money. Since you did a fabulous job showing how you do make money thank you. You two are great, and make a great team.
Lovely episode and thanks for the “behind the scenes” look at your art business! I’m so very happy that you two are doing well in these troubled times.
Great vlog girls; thanks for the little village tour. It’s so great that your business is successful and can support your cruising lifestyle. As I said before, you’ve done a brilliant job curating your brand, and have earned every bit of your success.
Watched you two +2(cats)from the start. Enjoyed all episodes. A question. What licenses do you need from CRT to trade from your boat .etc. I'm a wood Carver. Stick maker.from foraged materials along towpath.your help would be appreciated. Shane.x
I suggest you have a rubber stamp made of one of your cat's paw print. Stamp this on the back of your finished product. This could be an option, charging people an extra $1 if they want their purchase "authenticated" by Alice? It seems to me if the government would put some money into the canal system it would create a lot of jobs. Dealing with the quagmire of muddy tow path would be one improvement. Send a painting and a stern note to that clown in No.10. More video of old houses please. Even the texture of an Edwardian brick wall is a delight to an X pat. Great Job!
Glad to hear your business is doing well through these covid times. Loved the shots as you walked through the village showing us the architecture. Looking forward to more of your travels. 🐺🐱
What a lovely Sunday watch - nice to see you both working as a partnership in your Art business. Working behind the scenes can be tough too, so don't underestimate your importance Kath although I do agree that Anna-Marie's artwork is awesome and am loving the Christmas cards and new pins. Hope your cruising plans for the remainder of the year go smoothly x
This video is amazing, what a treat to see behind the scenes. Kath, you are so humble, you too Anna Marie. Your teamwork is what makes you so unique, and a pleasure to watch. Thank you very much.
Thank you for sharing a part of your lives. I love the artwork. Kath, I didn't even think about all the work involved in the process of these works of art. Great job Ladies!!
So nice to see, that your business can fund your lives now. Much hard work supervised by Alice of course. The pins are lovely as usual and yes, I do miss the “through the hedge” series. Have a good Sunday, Ladies.
Aaawww bless you Kath not only do you do all you do for the business, you have done all that fixing building and engineering, that amazes me, what do you do indeed who would ask such a question...xx
Really enjoyed the video. You're two very enterprising young people. I used to teach business, economics and enterprise and you're a brilliant example of that in practice. I'd have loved to have used you as a case study for my students.
Lovely video, Ironic your video starts out with a hail storm, as I just finished watching videos that happened with week about the biggest hail storms, with the biggest hailstones in recorded history, to hit south east QLD and Brisbane area , hailstones going through tiled roofs and gyprock ceilings falling in. Stay safe Looking forward to more of your adventures.
Hello to you both. After watching last weeks video where Kath installed your solar panels I thought you could go out on the cut being a travelling solar panel installer.
A lovely video, you make a great team. It must be heaven to be surrounded by the beautiful countryside. I like to go out walking as often as I can. Best wishes. ilona
You two are the cutest couple and an awesome business duo. My partner and I envy what you do, but don't have the talent to make such a business work for us. We live vicariously through you. Thank you so much for sharing. Susi and Rob. xxx
Hiya. The views and sights of my country never cease to amaze me. One forgets what's out there. I even adored the storm. Thank you, ladies. Stay safe. All the best to you.
hello there it was good to see you hard at work , ,, it has been good to see you on your narrowboat from here in sydney please do take care of yourself with the lockdown coming up for England cant wait for the next vid
When I am out and about I take reference photos for my daughter who is an archaeological illustrator. I now look at things differently. Thanks for the insight.
Love you guys, the only boat channel I watch. I wish I can afford one of your art, not that it's super expensive but cause I'm broke😁 a brit living in balla Italia💚
We do try and keep the prints at a reasonable cost, but I completely understand about being broke. My shop has some free downloads that you can use with my painting channel to learn how to paint. x
Ah it warms my heart to know you girl's are making such a happy, good life for yourselves 😊 Living the dream. I am hoping to get some of those beautiful cards soon. Hmm methinks I will need a new badge too 😉 Be safe girls, we've got a new lockdown coming.
I really enjoy buying special merch for friends from RUclipsrs - you support a small, independent business and you get a unique product. Pretty sad that UK is going to lockdown again. Thanks for the video, and stay safe, cheers Deb :)
It is good to know that you have achieved your goal of independence through your talents and hard work without having to rely on a traditional "job" while enjoying the freedom and beauty of the narrowboat lifestyle. Its nice to be allowed in to witness your lifestyle and also to be given the opportunity to see through the artists eye as it were. Im not sure if you are even aware of the way you frame your photo and videos but it does come through as we watch. Thank you. Slightly altered (more ladybugs) that particular painting would make an excellent clock. No numbers required just the clockwork and an appropriate set of hands. Possibly another revenue stream? Have a great day ladies, looking forward to your next vlog.
Annemarie, thought about turning some of your vistas into jigsaw puzzles? Or is that an uneconomic option? Millions of us cat owned souls make them and I have never seen a narrow boat scene in any form. 1000 piece is a good size. Even good photos of narrowboat life would raise an interest maybe...just a thought...
watching this making me please nice cos I have received your wonderful painting of my hubby and I george ans Lyn on our first narrowboat holiday, and we just love our painting that you did for us. thank you so mcuh and all your work that you do
I've been sitting here observing RUclips videos on narrow boat living and dreaming of having a boat where I can sell my art and rugs I make - then I come across this vlog. I think you are living my dream life. Of course, my plan is to do it solo but still. So weird. :) I do have one burning question watching your channel though - how do your cats not just take off and go exploring?? Do they stay close? I love them, I am just amazed they just jump off and on the boat.
What a great blog! A really great glimpse of what it’s like to be a trade boat and run an art business from the boat as well as a weekly blog. Do you ever have difficulties keeping all the paper products and art media pristine with the humidity and in the summer with the heat, since the boat has no air conditioning? I have been following The Narrowboat Experience for about a year now. I love the through the hedge, and informative blogs such as installing you diesel stove, solar cells, etc. as well as the cruising blogs. You show that empowered ladies are every bit as capable as men, and can take on major self repair and improvement projects on their boat as well as managing all the locks, swing and lift bridges involved with cruising. You are such a caring and supportive couple. Cheers from Florida!
Frampton-on-Severn! WOW! That was a nice surprise. When I was younger my eldest sister used to take us to the gravel pits. When she got married in1961 her husband lived down by the canal next to the Cadburys factory. Thier home was in Nuppend. The hog roast Fair was also a great event on the green. I also fished the canal at Frampton. I used to live and go to school in Stonehouse. This video brought back lots of great memories. I am in Hereford now and if it weren't for this global dilema we find ourselves in I would have jumped in the car and came down to say hello. Maybe next time. Have a great day and please stay safe. Regards. Raymond.
Equal billing of executive producers...total teamworkers..like fine clock works...cant have one without the other...like fish and chips or tea and scones....number one narrow boat channel of my 5 favorites By the way.. as some have said... you ladies always seem just as happy in bad weather as always in great weather...and that's why I love all your content 👍🥰😘🤭☕ cheers
@@TheNarrowboatExperience (princess of shiraz) just asked me who was my first and 2nd narrowboat favorites... I am so honored that I gave u ladies as my top choices.. your absolutely my duo match with "foxes afloat"..
I am so happy that y’all are getting to live your dreams and make a living too❤️❤️. I love all your work. I’ve gotten a mug and two pins, now to choose my favorite print. I just love your vlogs! Keep up the amazing work girls🥰
LOL, it's raining cats and dogs. It's great that you have a company together. I hope to get my visa soon. You are such beautiful and lovely people and the cats are beautiful too.
The weather has been terrible. I had a good day at Gloucester Docks last Tuesday, and was going to walk from Saul Junction on Wednesday, but when I got there it was chucking it down. Not the best of walks in the wet. Have a great time on the G&S.
Wonderful video Ladies, it is so interesting to see how people support themselves on the Cut. I recently came across a new Narrowboat channel where a couple supports themselves teaching English online to mostly foreign students abroad.
You two are braver than many of the narrowboaters I watch in that you deliberately went into a field with cows in it. Bovinophobia seems to be a common narrowboat experience.
G'day from 2022 down here in Australia. Looking at some of your Vlogs like this one. Oh, I could see my cats enjoying life on my own Narrowboat (I wish). Alice and Munchy look so chilled out as you pack the Art items.
I’ve just started my own onboard business (Gillyflower- The Narrowboat Weaver) and it’s gone really well so far.......I would love to do a RUclips channel but a little bit camera shy 😊 I’m actually moored on the Glos & Sharpness most of the year...... trapped by the mighty Severn and as a lone boater don’t like to tackle her that often. Know Frampton really well and yes it’s a lovely little village. Sorry I didn’t get to wave and say Hi ......as I have followed you guys for a few of years now. Thank you for this video it’s encouraging to see that a narrowboat business can work. Any further tips would be fab! 🧶🧣
@@TheNarrowboatExperience ah thanks for your reply. I weave Scarves, Throws, Bags, Cushion Covers and will eventually teach myself to spin Art Yarns. All my work uses reclaimed mix wools and is designed in ‘stream of consciousness’ so no 2 designs are the same.....ever 😊....... in the last month I have taken lots commissions which has been really lovely. And people have left some very kind comments on my social media pages. 💜 I will wave if I see you....... Anne-Marie’s art is just stunning and love what you both do. Happy Boating 🧶🧣🌷
How about seeds? The canals are full of flowers and native plants. I would buy them and you could also do art in black and white with seeds maybe imbedded that someone could plant? Love the shows!
Ahh, "Our business supports us a hundred percent", cool! :) May the skill, talent, wisdom, health, and good fortune continue. Because of their individual family histories Mom & Dad both were adamant about 'never go in to business with family'; so watching y'all be successful and enjoying 'living the dream' is a beautiful thing. And tell Munchie and Alice that Grumman and Georgie say hello. I had to watch Munchie at the opening between Grumman kitty's ears >^..^< he hopped up here to see what was on.
Really enjoyed this video girls, thanks for sharing your everyday work life with us. It's always calming to watch and listen to you. Love watching your cats. Our cat Penny passed away in July..very upsetting. She was a stray that our son and a couple girl housemates took in when they were at Uni in Lancaster. Stay safe my loves . ❤❤🐾🐾
Well done Ladies! So happy you're so successful. The kitties' involvement in your "production line" is very cute. Thanks for a lovely video. Best of luck to you both.🐾
Evening Ladies, that was a very interesting video, nice to see how you work, also so Kath you do all the maintenance of the boat that saves a fortune, love you both take care keep safe John ,xxx
We were by the canal in Frampton Upon Severn in summer, we loved walking by the canal trying to spot any of the narrow boat people that we follow on RUclips, sadly we were to early to meet up with you. It is such a pretty village! It was hugely busy in summer.
Good morning ladies and adorable cats. I really enjoyed this video. I am into drawing and would like to get into water colours , I have been using water colour pencils, but time to try the real thing. Best wishes, Terry in leicester.
OMG, milk, at their door, in glass and with a foil top! 😍😍😍 I doubt Anna Marie is old enough to remember that happening in Australia. How badly is the new lockdown going to affect continuous cruisers?
@@TheNarrowboatExperience I still have an old cooler, this is like a large unglazed clay bottle with no bottom and a chamber at the top. Looks like a bowling pin. You left this out in like a flower pot dish of water and filled the egg sized top chamber with water. The milkman put this over the milk bottle and as the water evaporated it kept the milk cool. Our council house had a pantry which had a large marble counter top in it and butter and cheese and milk were kept on this shelf. All high tech in those days!
@@TheNarrowboatExperience I'm 55 and I think it stopped when I was about 8 or 9. We had bread, milk and of course the paper delivered, the fruiterer came once a week in his truck as did the honey and egg man and of course the ice cream truck. Try to get kind of service nowadays.
@@Martin-se3ij I think they still use the electric milk floats in some parts of the UK. Never happened here since Australian suburbs tended to be more spread out range was an issue.
Very enjoyable vlog! Gosh you are busy bees. So happy for you that you can both work from home and send out beautiful artwork into the world for everyone’s pleasure. Stay safe in the lockdown 🇨🇦👍❤️😎
The Three Horseshoes is a great little pub! I cycled 40 odd miles there through frampton on severn to Arlingham on the Severn river and had a nice pub meal there and a few pints! Thought I recognised it!
This really looks like an awesomely well matched partnership - in business and marriage! I assume what you show here comes pretty close to your real life - but even if your match is less perfect than it seems in this video, you are to be congratulated! Nice to watch! Thanks!
Fascinating video with scene stealing cats! And I loved the mini “Through the Hedge” at the end. Thank you.

I will wave if I see you....... Anne-Marie’s art is just stunning and love what you both do. Happy Boating 🧶🧣🌷
It is quite obvious that 'Alice' is IN charge and knows where the camera is!
She was really 'working' that camera today lol
@@TheNarrowboatExperience she sure was!
How about seeds? The canals are full of flowers and native plants. I would buy them and you could also do art in black and white with seeds maybe imbedded that someone could plant? Love the shows!
Lou- on Mauve and me does seeds.
Ahh, "Our business supports us a hundred percent", cool! :)
May the skill, talent, wisdom, health, and good fortune continue.
Sounds great!
Beautiful. Thank you both for sharing your love! From SW Michigan on the great lake,USA
Thank you very much!
Good morning ladies and adorable cats. I really enjoyed this video. I am into drawing and would like to get into water colours , I have been using water colour pencils, but time to try the real thing.
Best wishes, Terry in leicester.
Come on over to facebook.com/groups/artbyannamarie
there's a lot of advice from all sorts of creative people.
Love watching your videos. Not just for the cats. (But mostly) Glad to hear they will continue.
Glad you like them!
OMG, milk, at their door, in glass and with a foil top! 😍😍😍
I doubt Anna Marie is old enough to remember that happening in Australia.
How badly is the new lockdown going to affect continuous cruisers?
And 70 years or more ago they were delivered in an electric truck.
I remember milk me, but I don't think ever had it delivered. My Oma used to have them delivered though- we thought she was very posh
Really enjoyed your new art work and pins. Really enjoyed your walking tour, do it again.
Very enjoyable vlog! Gosh you are busy bees. So happy for you that you can both work from home and send out beautiful artwork into the world for everyone’s pleasure. Stay safe in the lockdown 🇨🇦👍❤️😎
A beautiful location for your workplace love the cat supervisors
The Three Horseshoes is a great little pub! I cycled 40 odd miles there through frampton on severn to Arlingham on the Severn river and had a nice pub meal there and a few pints! Thought I recognised it!
Thanks for the info!
This really looks like an awesomely well matched partnership - in business and marriage!
I assume what you show here comes pretty close to your real life - but even if your match is less perfect than it seems in this video, you are to be congratulated! Nice to watch! Thanks!
So happy to get another vlog. Thank you.
Our pleasure!
So nice to see you work as one. Take care and stay safe.
Beautifully done, thank you.
