About Simple Little Life:
This channel has sort of turned (inadvertently) into a knife making channel. But the original idea behind what we wanted it to be is this description below:
Videos on our journey to homesteading. With a recent purchase of a little piece of the Alberta prairie, we're looking to sell our nice suburban home in search of a more meaningful life beyond chasing the "American dream" working for some big company and making someone else rich. I found myself rebuilding a Cummins ISX CM-871... I needed a die grinder to remove several gallons of RTV before I in frame it... I bought both the straight and angle Milwaukee units. As of now, I have been using the 3M Roloc Bristle Discs to remove the RTV from the block. I have to say, these die grinders, are the BOMB! Do not put pressure on these like you would with an air grinder, they will shut down, let the tool do the work. I wish I would have bought these years ago.
I love this milwaukee grinder I also bought the straight one too no air needed sold me very powerful tool
The Milwaukee M12 Die Grinder is fantastic, but you need a good battery like the 6Ah, it squeese the juice out of the small 2Ah in very short time. And under load it seem like it stop and need 2 rest. After i switched to 6Ah hour battery every thing is fantastic. 🙂

It’s amazing what battery power can do these days, I used to just avoid anything with a battery but now I’m turning into a Milwaukee m12 fan boy lol

The M12 drill and impact you got are the old brushed models i believe, once you get the newest brushless fuel
models you'd be suprised how powerfull a 12v tool can be, they can replace the older 18-20v tools.

Milwaukee should put that collet on a standard angle grinder or make one with a 5/8-13 female base. I drilled then tapped a (steel) Jacobs chuck to 1/2-13 and use that with my cordless and corded angle grinders. They kick ass.
I'm a pretty new to the Milwaukee cordless tools game also.
Two big game changers for me have been the M18 4.5" angle grinder and the heat gun. They're really handy vs having to haul out extension cords when you're working on a vehicle.
I'm going to get into the M12 tools next so I can get a 1/4" drive ratchet and the soldering iron.
One thing I noticed about some of the M12 tools is that their performance (not just run time) depends on what battery you use. I have the 3" cutoff tool and using the standard M12 CP1.5 battery the thing would stall out cutting aluminum gutter. When I switched to the XC6.0 battery, I found that it cuts steel with no problems. Even if you use the same capacity (Ah) battery, an XC will source more current than a CP battery making the performance better for heavy loads.
Got that M12 right angle die grinder. Have a 1/8" collet and nut as well to run any Dremel stuff. Bypassed the trigger bar lock with a piece of flat rubber so now I can wrap my index finger around the built in groove below the motor and keep the other three fingers on the bar. Two XC 6.0 batteries keep it going. The collet nut on this die grinder is 9/16-28 thread. May pick up an old keyless 1/4" or 3/8" chuck and re-thread it to fit the die grinder for low speed operations. If that works, I'll get a chuck with double knurled rings for a fully tool-less feature.
The Milwaukee makes great products. I have a soldering iron in that m12. And leaf blower, weedwacker, and hedger in the m18 fuel platform

When you ran out the battery without rest the internal temperature exceeded the BCM’s maximum permitted. That’s why it now flashes and battery is locked until you place it on the charger for it to unlock the BCM. A HO 5aH might be your best match with this tool instead of the 6aH

Do "a how to heat treat an O1 tool steel knife" tutorial please. I am 12 years old and am inspired by you to make my first knife. I, for now though am stuck making wooden knifes but found some not badly priced O1 online so I would be glad if you did do a tutorial like that.

I have a tool time Tuesday idea for you. I have a Ken onion small belt grinder. It is great for sharpening edges but...... It is amazing at sanding handles.
I do have to admit, though its expensive, it's more size wise compatible than some battery ones out.
Unless I missed it, you never said what the Amp capacity of the battery pack you timed at the end of the video (unloaded and loaded down)
I wanna get one of those for automotive use like cleaning head gasket surfaces. 9 min run time hmm im not sure now. Ill stick to the air line
Theoretically a battery with twice the amp hours should have twice the runtime and both have the same power. My experience is the performance not linear with the smaller battery giving up much faster than half the run time as well as in power. Am I wrong, why is that?
Bra, you think that’s cool, Milwaukee has a 12V rotary tool too! It is the BOMB! I’m a welder, and there is a Tungsten grinder head that you can buy that is amazing! The grinder head is pricey, but way worth the money for a Tig welder, and it’s a killer rotary tool as well, I mean killer!
Hey Brady! Good to hear from you again! Oh yeah I’ve seen that. I did notice it’s pricey but man it looks sweet. I ended up getting the tungsten sharpener from Eastwood for Christmas from my daughter and even that is super handy. I’m really amazed at how much I’m using this tool. Just having something without a hose on it and sitting at the ready changes the way I think about it👍

I can actually see used for one of those in my workshop, like you, I am reluctant or slow to go for a lot of cordless tools. Mainly for me, I only work in my workshop or around the property so unlike site work the benefits are not so obvious. The biggest hurdle is the price of Milwaukee in Spain.

Hi can a drill bit be used in this to make cuts in fiberglass for instance?
I've got an air die grinder that just sits on the wall, barely even use it. I even got the step down adapter so I can use it as a dremel tool too. I wonder if a cordless one would change that? Dremels barely have the power, but I don't use them enough to upgrade to a Foredom. I might have to look into this... Hope all is well, take it easy...

I"m curious as to why Die Grinders are so expensive relatively speaking. They cost more than a rotary tool and just as much or more so than your angle grinder. An air powered one is cheaper, but in general these tools are expensive. Why is this so?

I just bit he bullet and bought one of these too. I used to run a cheap knock off but it's not as good. I did lop off the nanny trigger lock but I'm a wack-o. Super nice tool.
Now that you have the batteries some of the other tools are nice like the soldering iron and ratchets. I even have a rotary dedicated to putting tips on Tig rods.
Hahahaha, right on. Funny thing: I was talking when I was filming that I might take off the nanny trigger but figured for liability sake I might not want that out there. 😆👍

220watts is a lot for that lil guy, I can see this thing overheating.
I'm pretty sure they wouldn't bring a product to market that over heats. Just based on my experience with their tools and the fact that any company moving such a volume of product would probably have tested very thoroughly.
I have had 0 problems with mine over heating and use it everyday!
I got this tool thinking it would be awesome so far im unimpressed and highly disappointed, ive used it with a wire brush on it and its constantly stopping and after a bit wont start at all and goes through batteries ridiculously fast, maybe they just suck for that application. I havent used it for anything else yet to be fair. But so far it has upset me.
I bet you the larger battery won't last twice as long...it doesn't work like that in real life 😉
I imagine it's fairly close with new batteries though.
@@Simplelittlelife Depends, the larger ah pack will likely resist voltage drop - to a greater degree.
@@DarkLinkAD Nah it won't. It wi be less than double since it cant drain the last few percent when it drops below a certain voltage. With higher capacity that percentage increases and you have the usual losses. Id call it about 80% more run time.
@@aleksastojanov4033 It will resist voltage drop under load, thats a given but that doesnt guarantee a longer runtime.
I do agree however that doubling capacity isnt a linear scale operation, meaning batteries of the same manufacturer arent likely doubling effective use.
How do we know though? Could have some Samsungs in one and LeaveLongs in the other
need an adapter to use diamond drills for hard tiles. Stupid u dont get it in the pack. Milwaukee! Shame on you...... :(
