Corey discussing their masks and identity being "a mockery of todays music, its bought and sold, basically its here today and gone tomorrow" is basically current Slipknot in 2021, they're a brand now and a registered company. I wouldn't say they sold out, lost their identity or soul, but their ethos as a band definitely changed over the years, they seemed to grow into everything they once mocked. I'm also well aware that age and progression changes outlook, they couldnt stay angry 20 somthings for the rest of their lives, but I do wonder if Corey would recognise the irony looking back at this past interview. Also Paul is so fucking right in saying "without one of the members it doesnt work, we need all of the 9 people" their sound changed once they started losing members, Paul and Joey were so influential to the Slipknot era of the early 00s.
I would say Corey and Shawn sold out. Shawn, he seems like he was always after money, but Corey didn't seem to be till they got bigger and bigger. Paul dying just seemed to be the trigger that slowly pulled the band apart and we started seeing how the band wasn't as close as they claimed. Then Craig gone and Joey dead showed it even more.
They never went for money 🤨🤦 people like Travis Scott who let's his fans die at his concerts ARE after the money. Slipknot is mocking the bullshit of the world

Corey discussing their masks and identity being "a mockery of todays music, its bought and sold, basically its here today and gone tomorrow" is basically current Slipknot in 2021, they're a brand now and a registered company. I wouldn't say they sold out, lost their identity or soul, but their ethos as a band definitely changed over the years, they seemed to grow into everything they once mocked.
I'm also well aware that age and progression changes outlook, they couldnt stay angry 20 somthings for the rest of their lives, but I do wonder if Corey would recognise the irony looking back at this past interview.
Also Paul is so fucking right in saying "without one of the members it doesnt work, we need all of the 9 people" their sound changed once they started losing members, Paul and Joey were so influential to the Slipknot era of the early 00s.
I would say Corey and Shawn sold out. Shawn, he seems like he was always after money, but Corey didn't seem to be till they got bigger and bigger. Paul dying just seemed to be the trigger that slowly pulled the band apart and we started seeing how the band wasn't as close as they claimed. Then Craig gone and Joey dead showed it even more.
