Just so you all know, we didn't actually go up in a balloon. That basket was just a photo op that we were more than happy to use. Let me know in the comments if you have, or if you would go up on a hot air balloon. After seeing my alma mater's rough take off, I may keep my feet firmly planted on the fiesta grounds moving forward. 🤣
I'm crying 😢 right now. I miss my mom so much. She loved the balloon festival. She was born and raised there. And now resting with the Lord. I just love your videos. You really bring so much nostalgia. Both sets of grandparents were raised in NM as well. So I really appreciate your videos. The cooking, the chile, the recipes, and showing how much it's changed but also stayed the same. Thank you ❤
I was born and raised in Gallup New Mexico, currently reside in Albuquerque. I honestly believe we live in an absolutely beautiful state. Balloon Fiesta is stunning, every year it is wonderful. So this year the big balloon from Santa fe was actually the Zozobra. It was pretty awesome to see, I understand it was the 1st time at the Fiesta. If you ever have the opportunity to go up in a balloon please do, the views of our absolutely beautiful land of enchantment are outstanding. Thank you for sharing your adventure with us. Looking forward to more of your videos. 😊
@@marcyinspired1442 I love the breakfast burritos too. After I saw your video I ordered a bottle of Hot Hatch green chiles. I love the taste of New Mexico breakfast burritos. Thanks for keeping the traditions alive. Can you do a New Mexico pozole recipe?
Wow it's a miracle I didn't see you I was right there at allot of the balloons you were at! ( Great launching shot at 8:20!!!) Plus I was in Old Town that day too (I live 1/2 a mile away) Glad y'all had a great time!
Hi Marcy ☺️ thanks for a fun time video! What a beautiful event! 🎈 I've only seen them in pictures, but would love to come and see them up close. Looks like a great time was had by all, and the drone footage was awesome! Loved all the night sky display... just spectacular! Great video Marcy, I truly enjoyed it! Plus your breakfast burrito 🌯 looked so yummy, too! 😋 Thanks for letting us ride shotgun with you and Tony! Have a great week my friend! 👍✌️😊
Loved it, brought back fond memories. I truly enjoy your videos. Hope to visit again and enjoy what new Mexico has to offer. Especially the hatch chilies. Blessings ✝️
Growing up in Albuquerque, you can't help but go to Fiesta yearly. My first Balloon Fiesta was in 1973; The First World Balloon Championship held at the State Fair Grounds. My first balloon flight was at the Balloon Fiesta in 1979. I became a Balloon pilot in 1986 and flew every year till my now former employer. Shipped 25 families to Phoenix. Phoenix is not the ideal place for hot air ballooning. Although not sold yet, I've decided to sell the two balloons I have currently. A trip to Albuquerque is a must! The only thing I see you missed was a balloon flight and à trip to the top of the Sandia Mountain via the Tramway. SPECTACULAR! Love your channel; Your the second best cook I know; Next to my Wife from Chihuahua, Mexico! Thanks!😊
How cool that you are an actual balloonist. I worked with a balloonist years ago at KPHO in Phoenix. His name was Paul, but I can't remember his last name. Anyway, he was a great cameraman, but you could tell ballooning was his real joy in life. It would be crazy if you knew him, or if he ended up buying one of your balloons!
@@marcyinspired1442 The only Paul in Phoenix that I know was transplanted to Phoenix from Albuquerque with Intel. Hope your set up in Cruces. My wife is still working at St. Joseph Hospital here and I'm retired but looking for something part-time just to stay busy.

Thank you for saying that! I'm thrilled that our videos bring you new experiences. May God restore your health, so that you can go out and have more adventures.🙏
I grew up in Colorado, and sopapillas were always served in restaurants. I got married in 1979 and moved to Hawaii but now live in California. Nobody knows what sopapillas are, especially the true Mexicans living in California. It's probably an American dish created here in the US by a Hispanic heritage. Either way, I was so happy to see that they still exist. Beautiful for spacious skies! I totally forgot about sopapillas!
I remember experiencing the same thing when I moved to California in '93. Nobody knew what I was talking about. I grew up calling them "sopaipillas," others call them "sopapillas." Either way, I believe they were introduced to this region by the Spaniards. Here's a recipe I shared, in case you decide to make them yourself: ruclips.net/video/TY4mCJsdZrQ/видео.htmlsi=3cWsg7Xz7edOnNGU
It's a miniature version of Navajo fried bread. It doesn't have anything to do with Mexicans. It's something indigenous people came up with once they were introduced to wheat flour.
Got to see the balloons as a trucker several times over the years (40 yrs xcountry 18 wheels). Amazing. Green Chili... Pueblo is my home, we have some too! I have a small freezer. When I run out of Pueblo green chilis I buy hatch green chilis! 😋
It's fun to see how many drivers pull off the side of the road to see the balloons flying over. Thanks for watching and for doing what you do. We owe truck drivers a debt of gratitude.

Tony often jokes about eventually retiring and since he'd be working from home, he says he could shoot these videos in his underwear! I definitely could do without that last part! lol
Lived on the West Mesa in a multi level condo overlooking the Rio Grande. Had a wonderful view of the city lights and during Balloon Fiesta it was extra magical.
"FANTASTIC" this was the best video I've got to see in a long time. The balloons, all that beautiful food I bet I gained 10 lbs. And the breakfast burrito for dinner/supper man what a day, thanks for bringing us along. Great camera work Tony ! I feel like I was on vacation. Love you folks❤
What a great way to start off a fall day, the Balloon Fiesta and breakfast burritos. I haven't been to the Fiesta in some years and need to go next year. I love the mass ascension in the morning and the special shapes. You got some glorious footage. Thank you for the share. Now I need to make myself a breakfast burrito and a good cup of coffee. Blessings.
I woke up to the gentle sound of rain this morning! There really is so much beauty all around us, if we take a moment to stop and enjoy it. Thanks for the sweet comment.
@marcyinspired1442 Buenos Dias from Española. Ironically, we have had rain here all night and today. I love it when it rains; the sound on the roof, the smell, etc. It's time for a good caldo, maybe a pot of beans. This weather makes me want to cook more and bake. Here and up further north, our trees are in their full glory, turning all colors. Good time for a drive into the mountains to see them, maybe pack a lunch, and just enjoy. Don't forget to visit Northern New. Mexico
You all just brought back many memories as a child, my dad had a office in Albuquerque and one in Denver so we would often go with him to go to old town and to the Balloon festival that was 50 years ago thanks again for sharing
You're absolutely right! You have to see the balloon Fiesta at least once. As expertly as Tony captured the essence of the experience, it's so much fun to be there. In my younger years I may have taken a ride in one of those but not today! The burro looked fantastic but I have a question for you, donde esta el queso? LOL! I'm a cheeser. Thanks for sharing!!
So glad ya'll made it here for the Fiesta! I made your marinated skirt steak - 5 star Fantastic! Green Chile candles- too funny! Was good to see NMSU's maiden launch! Aggie Up! Blessings!
That's awesome. My sister just called to thank me, because apparently, her husband was inspired by the burritos, too, and he just cooked her breakfast! They're super easy, but wonderful.
Thank you for doing this video. I was born and raised in Alb. and like your daughter woke up to balloons out my window. I am 69 now and can't travel to health problems (I live in north central KS), but "travel with you and your husband"! It was a delight to see old town, the wonderful food and the balloons. Thanks again!
What a wonderful memory you will have with your friends. My ex-wife graduated from UNM and we went to the ballon fiesta one year and it was amazing. We went with one of her best friends and her husband. We had breakfast at a restaurant in old town that served the most delicious cinnamon rolls that I have ever had.
Thank You for taking us along. What a treat. No, I would not go up. I was in Santa Fe last year the day the fiesta ended and we saw the baskets in the back of trucks. Yes, they are quite large and daunting.Santa Fe on Indigenous Day is quite fantastic too!
I'll have to find out when Santa Fe celebrates Indigenous Day, because that sounds like something Tony and I can share in a future video. Our friends said they want to come back at Christmastime and we told them we'd take them to Santa Fe & Taos. Thanks for the comment.
When my daughter was in high school (La Cueva) she helped as part of a balloon crew in exchange for a ride. Unfortunately, they didn't give the girls a ride after all their work! That was obviously when we lived in Albuquerque. It is a beautiful experience just watching. Once a balloon landed on the playground of my school. Thanks for bringing back some good memories of NM!
We made it this year for the first time. It was such an amazing time. Well worth the 18 hour drive and a definite bucket list item. We stayed in Santa Fe and fell in love with it.
New Mexico native here. Been going to the balloon fiesta every year at least twice. First Saturday and a special shape glow. My favorite is the frogs and Elvis and zozobra.
I love hearing what people's favorites are. It was the first time I had seen Elvis and Zozobra. My favorite is the balloon with the saguaro cactus and the palm tree that was part of the glow in this video. I also love the two bees. How nice that you get to go so often.
When we lived in Albuquerque we were in the NE heights by the Academy and loved just sitting in the backyard and watching the balloons. Definitely magical! Only went to a morning launch once since we had a little one at the time, but it's a wonderful memory. Thank you so much for sharing the experience! 🌶💕
That's awesome. There are so many areas where you can see from an even better vantage point, for free. My daughter is always talking about seeing balloons when she wakes up in the morning. And that's not even during the Balloon Fiesta. How wonderful that must be.
“Little pillows of heaven”😂 my mom used to say that when she made sopapillas. I’m from Albuquerque and the balloon fiesta is the best time of the year along with fall 🍁and green chile.
My husband and I were there for the 40th fiesta! I love hor air balloons and my husband surprised me with a balloon ride for our 25th anniversary! I managed to get home by plane with a poster from the 40th. And framed for my sewing room . Lee was there for the first one which was held in a parking lot!
How nice that you have a framed memento of your visit to the Balloon Fiesta. I believe this was the 52 year. It's hard to imagine its humble beginnings..in a parking lot! It is so huge now.
I just learned about it. My brother-in-law called me after seeing the video and said I need to go to Santa Fe on Indigenous Day. I'm putting that on my calendar now. Thanks for the comment.
Awesome video! I’ve been to many balloon fiestas through out the years we live just a little south of balloon fiesta park depending on the wind direction a lot of times they fly over our neighborhood and land in our neighborhood parks.
Thanks for sharing your day trip. What a fun day… The balloons were just beautiful. I’m also interested in the beautiful coat you were wearing!! Where did you get it ??? 🩷
Thank you. The coat was a gift from my daughter. I'm so happy I get to wear it. Rarely did I need anything more than a sweater when I lived in Arizona.
New Mexico doesn't get a lot of attention. Sadly, so many people don't even know it's a state! So, I'm happy to be able to share parts of it in these videos. Thanks for watching and Happy Retirement!
Great trip! We beat you to Albuquerque. From Atlanta we spent 3 nights in Albuquerque and caught the launch the first Saturday and again Sunday. But other than photographs and videos, the best thing in our suitcases coming home was the roadside pinons and Chimayo chile powder purchased outside the front door of El Santuario de Chimayo. Small tastes of heaven...
You are not going to believe this, but I am munching on piñons as I am responding to this comment! What are the odds of that!? (Wish I could include a picture!) This was actually a very good year for piñons. It had been years since we've had any. Glad you got to take some back, along with the Chimayo chile. Sounds like you had an all around great trip.
Awe. That made me sad. I actually love South Texas, but I know how it feels when your heart is somewhere else. Hoping these videos make you feel like you're in New Mexico, even for just a few minutes.
howdy from south Texas, looks like ya have cooler weather than us, balloons look awesome. your channel is so well done on the production side. looks like a show off the national networks like you could rival the food network.I know you have said what your husband dose for a living and Tony is an expert in his field by your great show. Great food also . my wife and I love the recipes. our favorite is potato bacon egg and cheese for a taquito. Pour on the chile! so your your hitting our favorite breakfast with this burrito. ya take care. audios
Hello to you in south Texas!👋Yes, it's definitely cooler in northern New Mexico, especially early in the morning. Thank you so much for the nice comment. That really means a lot to us. We feel like we've met so many nice people because of this channel. We will absolutely "pour on the chile!"
@@marcyinspired1442 Oh , I forgot to mention , We have never been to New Mexico or the balloon event. we do get to enjoy the state and events by way of your channel. Thanks so much
Hey Marcy, I am from Northern NM and you covered the Balloon Fiesta very well. The big ugly balloon your friends mentioned with Santa Fe on it is Zozobra man of gloom, if your not familiar him. Enjoyed you vid along with all the others I have watched. Thx for sharing
Thanks so much for the comment. I wish I had known earlier. But, as I told another person who commented, that just gives us an excuse to visit Santa Fe and include that in a future video. Thanks so much for watching!
Years ago I was in Albuquerque for a wedding during the balloon fiesta. Unfortunately I couldn’t bring myself to do the predawn wake up after being up late. Totally regret not just sucking it up and going!
We have been going to the Balloon Fiesta for years from AZ. Those Blake’s burritos are the best! We like to hit the NM Piñon Coffehouse afterwards or Frontier.
I kind of regret not taking our friends to Frontier. At the time, I thought it would be too busy because of the Balloon Fiesta. Instead, we ended up at the Saw Mill, where it was dead that early in the day. I haven't been to the NM Piñon Coffeehouse. I will definitely try it out next time I'm in town. Thanks for the tip.
been crewing full time at balloon fiesta since 2006, we get there around 5 am (flying quite a few times). balloon fiesta has been limited to 600-650 balloons for a few years because of landing area availability. the larfe balloon (commercial rides) are 250-300 thousand cubic feet (10-20 passengers). most private balloons are between 77-90,000 cubic feet (2-3 passengers). You will have to come out when we have our little balloon rally in Las Cruces, 2nd weekend January. A little sopapilla with your honey😉. I use hashbrowns in my breakfast burritos plus chedder cheese and pepper jack cheese. Occasionally I have use 1/4 inch potatoes, my wife likes it when I use tater tots
That is so cool that you are a crewer. That would be such a fun job, where you have to be prepared for any and everything! I will definitely come out for the balloon rally here in Las Cruces. Thanks for the heads up.
"Beauteeful Clark"...caught that.. We were gifted with so many balloons landing on our property in Corrales. Told my wife, "see honey..this property already paid off. Can't wait to move there permanently!
I love Corrales. I spent quite a bit of time looking at houses there on Zillow. How wonderful that you live there. Glad you caught the reference. Sometimes I speak in movie lines.
HUGE bummer! Tony and I were there that same day! We were so disappointed. Then, as we had to head home the next morning, we saw balloons going up! Timing is everything!
Yes. I found out about it AFTER we shot this video. It would have been nice to have been more informed, but now we have an excuse to visit Santa Fe and share that in a future video. Thanks for watching from my old Sacramento days.
I don't know for sure but my daughter was disappointed. She thought it was because they took advantage of her and her friend. Who knows but they could have offered them a ride another day. Live and learn I guess.
2:01 - $27 for a CANDLE that smells like roasted green chile? Pass on that because you can get a a whole box of REAL roasted green chile for the same money. LOL

You really need multiple days to see it all, so that is so cool that you were able to be there all nine days!
I ish I would have ran into you Marcy.
That would have been wonderful. Hope to meet you someday.
So glad ya'll made it here for the Fiesta! I made your marinated skirt steak - 5 star Fantastic!
Green Chile candles- too funny!
Was good to see NMSU's maiden launch! Aggie Up! Blessings!
I'm kicking myself for not buying that candle. It really smelled beautiful. Thanks for watching!
Marcy, your trip looked like so much fun! I will make those breakfast burritos tomorrow morning, for once I have everything needed. TFS
I'm so happy you enjoyed it and were reminded of your hometown. Thanks for watching!
You must have gone to Frontier. They're known for their cinnamon rolls. I'm really regretting not taking our friends there.
@@marcyinspired1442 wow you are right, what a great time we had.
Great video I enjoyed watching the beautiful balloons it was absolutely amazing thanks for sharing that i love it. what a pleasure it was marcy.😊
So happy to hear you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching!
@@marcyinspired1442 your so very welcome sweet friend. yes it was amazing.
My grandma used make those
Thank You for taking us along.
Oh, that is terrible! I hope it was due to unsafe weather conditions, and not just people backing out of their word and getting free labor!
We made it this year for the first time. It was such an amazing time. Well worth the 18 hour drive and a definite bucket list item. We stayed in Santa Fe and fell in love with it.
How wonderful. Where did you drive from?
@marcyinspired1442 about a hour North of Fresno CA.
@@johnnyhoover5870 That's quite the drive, but I'm glad it was worth it.
Beautiful video Marcy glad you all had fun balloons so beautiful would I get in one no my feet stay on the ground haha have blessed day my friends.
After that rough take off we witnessed, I'm with you! lol
That is too funny! But it describes them so perfectly. Couldn't agree more. Loving this time of year.
The Santa Fe balloon is Old Man Gloom from Zozobra.
@@jamessanchez6027 That's so cool. We had a balloon land in my step dad's field one time. But balloons in southern New Mexico are rare.
Since returning from Hatch in Aug, I feel like NM is a place where I could live now that I’ve retired. Thanks for posting, Marcy 👍🏻👍🏻
I miss Las Cruces and New Mexico I wish I was back there everyday. I'm STUCK here here in South Texas. Hi everyone!
Awe. That made me sad. I actually love South Texas, but I know how it feels when your heart is somewhere else. Hoping these videos make you feel like you're in New Mexico, even for just a few minutes.
The Santa Fe balloon was the balloon for zozobra he is called old man gloom.
Thanks for the comment. Hope others will read it to learn about it.
howdy from south Texas, looks like ya have cooler weather than us, balloons look awesome. your channel is so well done on the production side. looks like a show off the national networks like you could rival the food network.I know you have said what your husband dose for a living and Tony is an expert in his field by your great show.
It's hard waking up that early, especially when it's cold. But, it's definitely worth it. Maybe you'll get another chance.
Breakfast burritos are a must. Have to get a balloon pin or two or three!
been crewing full time at balloon fiesta since 2006, we get there around 5 am (flying quite a few times). balloon fiesta has been limited to 600-650 balloons for a few years because of landing area availability. the larfe balloon (commercial rides) are 250-300 thousand cubic feet (10-20 passengers). most private balloons are between 77-90,000 cubic feet (2-3 passengers).
My friends and I went to the Ballon Festival last year but unfortunately they were unable to launch because of the weather, big bummer!
HUGE bummer! Tony and I were there that same day! We were so disappointed. Then, as we had to head home the next morning, we saw balloons going up! Timing is everything!
Was that Burrito express?
13:01 zozobra?!
The "Creepy" balloon that said Santa Fe is Zozobra - one of New Mexico's oldest traditions -it just celebrated 100 years of The Burning of Zozobra.
Love your videos. Im a former viewer from Sacramento. I think the Santa Fe balloon was meant to be Zozobra.
Yes. I found out about it AFTER we shot this video. It would have been nice to have been more informed, but now we have an excuse to visit Santa Fe and share that in a future video. Thanks for watching from my old Sacramento days.
@@marcyinspired1442 I look forward to your Zozobra video
How safe are those balloons?
No I will never go up in a balloon 😊
I don't know for sure but my daughter was disappointed. She thought it was because they took advantage of her and her friend. Who knows but they could have offered them a ride another day. Live and learn I guess.
You forgot the cheese
2:01 - $27 for a CANDLE that smells like roasted green chile? Pass on that because you can get a a whole box of REAL roasted green chile for the same money. LOL
True. Although, it smelled REALLY good. You could have it burning all day, every day! lol I'm kind of regretting not buying it.
Sorry don't like alburgie
