  • Milk and sugar mini buns are not only the cutest little buns ever, but they are so good. They're all the goodness of a dinner roll with a very light powdered milk and sugar mixture baked on top. Then, pull the little nuggets apart and roll them in any excess fallen sugar. Eat them warm for the best experience, and you can microwave them before eating leftovers. This makes a ton of tiny little bites, but they're so good they are pretty easy to put away.
    Dough:
    1/4 cup warm water
    2 1/4 cup dry active yeast
    3/4 cup warm milk
    1 egg
    1/4 cup butter, softened
    1/4 cup sugar
    1 teaspoon salt
    3 1/4 - 3 3/4 cup all purpose flour
    Proof 1 1 1/2 hours. Divide into 1 inch portions (to 1 1/2 inch). Arrange in a greased 9x13 pan. Cover and let proof 1 hour more.
    Milk Sugar Mixture:
    1/2 cup sugar
    1/2 cup milk powder
    Sprinkle half the mixture over the proofed dough. Bake for 17 minutes and then sprinkle the remaining amount on top of the hot freshly baked mini rolls.
