    I really appreciate the information and techniques you have provided here, especially the WD40. Just blows my mind that owners of these stoves have to go through all of that just to maintain a decent-looking stovetop. I really believe that the companies making these stoves should be putting out better technology, especially nowadays!

    Great info for a stove that hasn't been cleaned for a while. My tip is to clean it each time after cooking a meal. Everything comes out very easy. Another tip is to use the right size for the right cooking area. If the pan/casserole is too small it will splash all over the heated area and immediately burn , whereas a right size casserole/pan won't allow that.
    Anyway, sorry for my bad English, I am from Greece 🇬🇷
    Have a wonderful day 💞

    My rent house stove top was very bad. Nothing else worked until I found your WD40 video. I let it soak in overnight. Next day it scrapped of pretty easily; one hour of scrapping. You have to take little bites at a time, working from outer edges. I thought I'd have to replace the top - now it looks brand new with DW40

    I enjoyed your video. I would never have tried WD40. Very helpful. One thing I wanted to say is single edged razor blades sharpen very well in a hand held knife sharpener. I prefer using sharp blades. Using a knife sharpener saves time, money, and recycling.

    • @CubanRedneck

      … thank you for stopping by! I use WD-40 for its property to soften or dissolve carbon deposits, but there is an array of other chemicals that provide similar results. I myself don’t mind sharpening blades and knives and own several honing stones. However, in this instance, and the fact that we are working on a glass surface, a new, perfectly square blade is desired!

    Thanks. Were you able to remove scratches with this method? A tip for easy cleaning of grease. If you take tea bags and brew tea: you can even use the ones you previously made tea with, it will remove a lot of grease; so easy way to keep grease from building up and it’s so easy to do you can do it daily without having to go through a deep cleaning which cuts down on how often you have to do a deeper cleaning.

      ... thank you for watching, and you are too kind! This is one of my first videos, and I have to admit, not one of my best! As to your question, no, at least not on mine, which is a Frigidaire (and I hate it!) My mom has a Kenmore, and she does not lift either. It would be too heavy, I think. About 70% of the weight of the stove is the glass top, which sits on a stone slab where the heating elements rest.

    Question... do you think this process would take away those pesky withish clouds on the glass? I have a stove that was never taken care of by previous owners... I cleaned it to a T, but there is on element that is cloudy and another one that seems to be brown stained... evventhough it is clean... I don't know what to do as I can't afford to buy another glass top but don't want my stove to like is dirty 😔

    • @CubanRedneck
      @CubanRedneck  4 года назад +3

      Hi Amyah, thank you for your comment! It is hard to say if the white ring around the burner is a rub mark, burned-on grease, or hard water. I would consider the WD-40 and straight edge scraper since it is the most affordable. However, it sounds like it's been there for a while, so consider leaving it there for some time. Maybe a long as an hour or more! The WD-40 will not do anything to the glass, but it does an excellent job at breaking down oxidation and challenging stains. If the stain results from a rub mark, you may need a rubbing compound and the small polisher I used on the videos. If you don't find it at your local big-box store, here is a link to it - amzn.to/2Vbsudb We don't really have many scratches on our stove but nevertheless I am considering doing a video on polishing out scratches! Stay tuned!

    • @amyahdocq8835
      @amyahdocq8835 4 года назад +3

      @@CubanRedneck Well, it is not a white ring and it is nothing crusted as I succeeded to clean everything to a T ... but in the middle of that element, it looks like a big whitish milky cloud... so maybe I will look for a rubbing compound or a glass polisher with the little tool you had (I want one, soooo useful) ... Will try... hope it will work...

    What is it about WD 40 that is beneficial ? Can you explain please?

    • @CubanRedneck
      @CubanRedneck  Год назад +3

      ... hi, thank you for stopping by. If you are unfamiliar with WD40, it was initially designed to protect the outer skin of the Atlas Missile from rust and corrosion. However, its ability to loosen rusted bolts and parts with carbon deposit has made it a household item. In this particular application, the objective was - one, to help soften or dissolve the carbon deposit left behind (burnt grease) and, two, to provide a lubricant to minimize scratches caused by the scrapper. I used WD-40 because it is the cheapest and found everywhere, but other rust-loosening products, such as PB Blaster Penetrating Catalyst, Liquid Wrench Penetrating Oil, and others, will work similarly.

    How to check and change Burners on a flat top stove

    • @CubanRedneck
      @CubanRedneck  2 года назад +1

      ... hey thank you for stopping by. As to working or not working it is pretty simple to figure out with a touchless voltage detector. Turn the burner on touch the glass with the tester, if there is power on it the coil is gone. As to replacing the burner, these usually come in modules. Here is the module for mine - www.amazon.com/dp/B00M10AFFW?tag=vert0a-20&linkCode=osi&th=1&psc=1
      Even if you find just one burner, understand that these are like light bulbs with a life expectancy expressed in hour. If one when, the next is sure to go out soon. That's why they sell it as a module.

BTW, people have reported the several other stain removing solutions like *Goo Gone Adhesive Remover* and car *Car Bug Remover* also works quite well. The point is to not only soften the carbon built-up but to also provide lubrication so that the scrapper does not scratches the surface. So if you have anything like that try it before running out tp get something new.
