I just use a tiny bit of Dawn and a damp microfiber cloth. The Dawn cuts the grease and the microfiber does the rest. No scratches and completely clean. Just rinse out the cloth and go over to remove any soap residue. Cheap and cheerful!
This works on some stains, but I found on stains burned on (perhaps by something on the bottom of the pan) that baking soda and a few drops of white vinegar almost always works. The secret is to put the soda right on the stain, and as soon as you add the vinegar and see it react, then use the rough side of a soft kitchen sponge and it takes it out.
I have the exact same oven, and this method works very well to clean your stove top. I Saved money, and the stove top looks brand new! Thanks for the video!
I've had my stove more than 15 years and it looks like l just bought it. I clean it after every use with "top glass cleaner" especially if the water over boils / wait unit it's cool down before cleaning. 👍
When I got my glass/ceramic cooktop twenty two years ago in 1991 it came with a scraper that has a replaceable blade. I’ve used that and Jif or Gumption cream cleaners and don’t have any problems! I really like how easy it is to use and adds bench space when I need it.
That’s how I’ve been cleaning mine ever since I bought it in 2013. You can get replacement scrapers at your local hardware store. Just ask or look for a glass scraper. It will come with 4 or 5 blades.
Vinegar and baking soda do the same thing. Great job though!! I love my glass top stove and I hope to never have to go back to those horrible metal rings.
This worked well for me. Some of the really hard, baked-on food that was impossible to get rid of before needed more than a one-time cleaning to get it all off. Thanks for the advice.
Might sound crazy, but I used Brillo pads... I was desperate one time. I thought there was now getting the burnt in gunk off. Anyway it works like a charm and doesn't scratch the glass. I have had luck with it on 2 stoves now.
These glass stove tops are a pain in my "burner" lol I have one and its only less than 2yrs old. The front right burner looks like its 90 yrs old. Pans took part of the surface off. It looks terrible. I agree gas stoves are better and in my opinion cooks food better.
How is that possible? We had one back in the 70’s and never had an issue and had one in the 90’s and as along as you only use real pans and don’t turn it up too high and leave it on for hours I don’t see how a pan would burn to the top. I have never heard of such a thing.
We got ours not even 2 months and it already has these burns. Hard to remove and even with these kinds of tricks, they will not come out entirely. never again will I get such a cook top.
A much simpler, less messy way is to use Bar Keepers Friend powder. Simply fold a dishcloth several times into a thick pad, dampen with tap water, sprinkle a generous amount of the powder on to the soiled area, then rub in a circular motion with the pad...you'll find that stains remove with ease. The idea is to create a thickish paste, not a watery consistency. In any case, keep the pad safely to hand as you can reuse it several times after a single application of powder, simply wetting it slightly before use the next time, but also adding a touch more powder occasionally. After cleaning the cooker top, I simply spray any general purpose cleaner over the area, then wipe dry with paper kitchen towel, finishing off with a light spraying of ordinary glass cleaner, followed by a quick polish using a microfibre cloth. The end result is perfection, and it can all be done in 90 seconds.
This worked quite well to clean my stovetop! I've always struggled cleaning my stove top in the past with scrubbing out the stains, this is much easier!
This is an absolutely brilliant cleaning hack!! Thank you ever so much!! It occurs to me that this idea will also leave a pleasant fresh citrus scent behind it as well. 👍
I'm glad you video came across my YT page. Going to try lemon and baking soda on my glass top stove. I'll make sure I will use a microfiber cloth too. Thanks.
I just rub some Dawn detergent using my fingers when the top is cool. Once I’ve done my dishes, I wipe the ceramic top with a damp sponge after, if there is caked on particles, I use the scrubbing side of the sponge to remove those, flip the sponge and wipe it all down, then dry it with a microfibre cloth. You can use a Ceramic Top Cream Cleanser on occasion but that’s rare if you keep it clean daily.
A bit messy solution. Our Kenmore Elite electric cooktop is over 15 years old and has been cleaned with "Cook Top" brand cleaner and has ZERO scratches. Plus, there is no mess and will not put you in the poor house.
The glass top I had 25 years ago was easy to clean. I moved and bought a new one 2 years ago, it’s so hard to clean! I just don’t get it! The older ones were easier!
@@kathrynn3936 I totally agree. I had one for over twenty years and thought I should get another one before this one quits and I hate it! I’m so mad at myself. Nothing was wrong with my old one. Use Bar Keepers Friend powder, applied on a wet dishcloth to make a stiffish paste. At least it's available here in England, though elsewhere I wouldn't know.
Will this get rid of oil that's dried in too? Like if your pot was a little bit oily that you didn't notice on the bottom and then you've cooked your food and it's left that oil mark if that makes sense
When the hob is still warm after cooking every day, just wipe it with a damp cloth and it should take most away and use a dry dish towel to polish it up. It takes 2 seconds.
