Alan Menken, he wrote some of the disney music of my childhood. Such incredible powerful songs, to bad his writing partner Howard Ashman is no longer alive.

They were the catalyst of the entire disney renaissance!! Its pretty amazing but like without their influence we probably wouldnt have the movies we know and love from the Disney renaissance

I know my band director who played the piano for all of my schools musicals (elementary, middle, high) and he was able to play a song from 7th grade 5 years later from memory.
When you've been playing certain piano songs for years, that tends to be the case. There are various piano songs and adaptations that I've been playing for over 10 years that I can sit down at a piano and jump straight into without a second thought. Once you've mastered the muscle memory, you don't even think about which keys to press anymore. But it takes years(or months if you actually practice them regularly, which I don't).
I saw another video where Menken plays a 10 min medley from his songs with no notes just deciding spontaneous what to play next 😯
Literally, the broadway Aladdin naturally looks like Aladdin without anything to make him change into him. He’s natural!
As for broadway Genie, he is as close to the original Genie as anyone can get!

This has to be the best version of "Go the Distance" I have heard-Solid vocals with Menken on piano-it sounds more powerful imo
Vin Liberato need a full Go the distance with them right.
But the three songs after Go the Distance aren't Ballads. So cool that Alan Menken sings too and he can play the piano quite well. Not all composers hit the keys with that type of delicacy. Also, Adam has ridiculously large biceps.
Actually, I think kiss the girl is considered a ballad. Not a traditional ballad, but it’s known as a sentimental ballad which is usually a romantic or sentimental (duh, it’s in the title hahahaha) story or song. :)
Ballad ≠ slow song.
Ballads are songs that tell stories. They can be at a fast tempo as well.
Go the distance is my favorite Disney song, not my favorite movie, but song! I love to hear it!

He's played piano since AGE FIVE. Plus, when you major in music, you are given SOME piano instruction, even if it's not your major instrument. (I attempted to major in music when I first started college, too many moons ago.)
