There are certain times when you hear a song at the right moment in life. For me, this is one of those days. Battling some health issues for several years now and the chemo continues to slow me down. I needed this one today and it magically appeared.
Omg I loved this actor in Prince of Egypt (so happy they recorded that version!) & now seeing him here makes me so happy! Truly something special in our hands! 🙏
I saw him play Anthony in Sweeney Todd about 12 years ago, ran into him after the show, and ended up having a good long conversation with him! He seemed so nice and genuine and I knew he had a bright future ahead of him. He absolutely has that “hero” energy that makes him a great choice for Moses and Hercules- you can just see the idealism in his eyes!
He sounds incredible. My only issue which isn’t just him, but all these songs that are redone seem so rushed. They are singing so fast and there’s no pauses or rests that used to be there to let the song breathe. It’s like they make it faster tempo and eliminate all the rests but then at the end it just feels so rushed.
I agree, but this may just be a condensed version for the official soundtrack. I bet seeing/hearing the song in the context of the show it’ll be more spaced out and the song will be able to breathe and be more impactful
Incredible voice! Excellent performance! I do find the direction of the pacing/tempo to be lacking. The original's pacing was an _acting_ choice in itself. I feel this glosses over Hercules' inner thoughts. The apprehension, the determination. It's not just an "I Want" song, but an "I Will" which makes it unique. Maybe that will be polished later.

Can anyone help me think of an idea for a celebration? I wish to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Disney on Broadway but I don’t know what to do. What I did for a while was, on the day that each production opened, I would first watch the trailers of each production on RUclips and then listen to the cast recording. Does that sound enough? I have considered first watching the preview of the movie each was based on and then watch the preview for the Broadway adaptation to present the leap from the screen to the stage. Is there something else I can do? Also should I include the one non musical Disney Broadway production, Peter and the Star Catchers?
