    Wow Mitch, a nice job but that hostel was rough.
    No isolator, no insulated lines, drain over the wall etc.
    Ive been there too, hard to make you proud of the work you doing when nobody seems to care.

    Mitch, great job on that uncomfortable roof. How long has Daikin had R32 units in Australia? They are just becoming available here in the Northeast US. but not readily.

      Thanks mate. This Daikin unit was installed in 2016 but R32 has been available for close to a decade now in Australia. They first started coming out in ductless mini splits only then slowly came out in ducted units etc. cheers mate.

    Hey mitch any reason why you dont clean the old paste off the heat sink? also those lite systems are fucked especially near the ocean. Once those indoor photo/receiver boards get dust on them near the ocean the salty moisture in the air corrodes the boards which can make your indoor air temp thermistor read inaccurately and sometimes it will heat but not cool. I keep spare photo/receiver boards in the ute because its so common and theyre cheap. What a shocker of an install. As always love the vids mate rip in 👍

    • @maracservices
      @maracservices  11 месяцев назад

      That’s interesting to know that it’s somewhat common for these indoor boards fail. Cheers for that. What’s the difference between a “lite” unit and say a “Cora” unit? I genuinely don’t know. I’ve never installed a lite unit. In regards to the heat sink paste, sometimes I do, sometimes I don’t. Depends how much shit is going on at the time. If you tell me I should then I’ll definitely start doing it. I haven’t had any issues so far but always keen to get better as a tech.
      What I will say though is that filming adds a whole other aspect to doing the job. Not only am I trying to concentrate on doing the job, I’m concentrating on filming which I’m still only getting used to. That’s no excuse for not doing things, just something else on my mind on these jobs. Cheers mate!

      @@maracservices lite series come with those cheaper remote controls and they are cheaper unit. Id say cora is the best for price/reliability.
      There was a run of lites thats all seemed to have bad outdoor boards a year or so after being installed that we just didnt see with the coras and of course the boards were all out of stock with no etas.
      Ive always removed the paste, I was always told to remove it and from building pc's it made sense to me to remove it. I think the goal is to add just enough that the heat can transfer but not so much that you insulate the chip from the heat sink.
      Theres no doubt you strive to be the best tradesman you can be mate, ive first hand seen you take my advice with the needle probes for testing plugs. Your work is top notch, crack on

      You do top quality work Mitch.it’s good to see a tradie who cares. There was a Daikin service news post many years ago. (2009) DASN 09-001-A-01 about removing old paste ,it’s on the Daikin eQuip app in document library:residential single split. Lots of interesting information on there.
      I find sometimes it’s easier to remove the cradle to get to them heatsink screws. Dropped plenty and are a bastard to get to if they slip down the back of blanket🙄

    Hey man why didn't you just trip the rcd to find where it's fed from if the whole power was getting shut down anyway

    • @maracservices
      @maracservices  11 месяцев назад +1

      Hey mate, so initially I took the cables out of the line neutral & earth terminal block to do just that and it didn’t trip any of the breakers. I eventually found out it’s because they wired the real active and neutral into the 1&2 terminal block so that’s why it wouldn’t trip the breaker. I was trying to trip a dead cable not wired to any rcd. Then the maintenance guy said he’ll go turn off the breaker for me. I didn’t realise he was going to turn off the main switch. I thought he was going to turn off the circuits one by one until we found it. So to answer your question, I honestly tried to do what you suggested but was a little confused because the installers wired it incorrectly and I didn’t realise they wired it like that until we had already isolated the circuit.
      Cheers
