What is the buttermilk ? I don't know it
And how many time I can keep red velvet in airtight container in refrigerator ?
buttermilk can be easily done at home by simply warming milk and adding a spoon of lemon juice or vinegar and once it curdles u can add it in the batter
I would like to cut the recipe in half to make 12 reg size cupcakes. How long should I bake it for?
HI, may ask is what kind of milk used to make buttermilk, is it whole milk or fresh milk?
Can this be made to a normal cake?
Hi Nick, I’m looking forward to trying this recipe but I only have gel food colouring. How much would I use? Also, have you tried Sugar and Crumbs natural flavour icing sugars? They do a cream cheese flavour that would be perfect in hot weather as an alternative to a ‘real’ cream cheese frosting 😀
If you're using food gel coloring then that'd be even better cuz they're much more concentrated and would not ruin the texture of any recipe's batter or dough. I've seen some people even use food powder coloring. Anyway, I've watched many bakers who use the gel type and they would most often dip a skewer or toothpick in the gel bottle and it seems like little goes a long way. You should just simply start off with using just a tad bit gel and then adjust if needed.
Is there any way to put the cream cheese frosting in the middle of the cupcake too? And how would that impact the baking time?

You could just dissolve the powder into water. It will make liquid food dye. I tried it, it works.

Hi Nick! I followed the recipe to the T.. However, I’ve encountered some issues on mine :/ I made 26 cupcakes instead of 20.. I have 2 ovens so I tested out one in convection setting and one in convention. They were both done way before 40 minutes and all came out with a dome. What can I do to fix it on my next try? Thank you very much!

@@MaraSaeed same thing happened to me. If you look at the web link you will see chocolate cupcake recipe even thought u click red velvet. You have to search the recipe on the site then the correct one will come up
