I have 2 different brands of saw stands and both fold down, and have a single pair of wheels to roll it around. I wouldn't want to carry that beast of a saw around.
I appreciate it man. As I was told years ago, the only stupid question is the one that wasn't asked. We might not be the biggest, but we have the best welding community on the internet, hands down!
I often saw these stands in the stores but never knew how they exactly worked. Because of this vid it becomes very clear to me how to use these stands😃. In order to save my back, I defintely going to buy one. It offers a far better working height. Thanks your so much Brandon for this useful and clear explanation. Loved to watch this vid. Merci and greetz from Holland, Marcel Knippers.😀💯💯
Thanks Marcel! I couldn't agree more. I've been lugging my saws around for years, propping them up on makeshift stands. No more. For 100 bucks I couldn't even come close to building anything this nice. It's a game changer for sure. I'm going to pick up a spare set of brackets and mount them to a piece of plywood and now I'll also have a protable work bench. Cheers brother!
Love the use of space and making your shop more effecient. That is a nice saw and stand. Now, when you are in the mood again for a givieaway.....count me in!!! Well, one can dream, can't one????? That is for a shop that is doing multiple projects and going for lots of cuts. Me, well, I am going to stick with the hand held saws/grinders that have multiple functions! Thanks for the video, Brandon, and do be well, be safe, and be Blessed!!!
Thank you Jim. I cant believe I waited this long. For 100 bucks this is a huge timesaver. The one thing I forgot to mention is that you can buy those brackets separately so you can mount multiple saws. I'm going to pick up an other set and mount it to a piece of plywood to use it as a mobile work bench. We will be announcing the winner for the most recent giveaway soon and I have another machine we are giving away real soon too. I love our community!
Brandon: your shop is a football field compared to mine so I appreciate more than most, the need for organization. As always, I am inspired by your ideas. Thanks for the review of the stand. Before, I start salivating over the stand, I must first upgrade my old Evolution saw to the one you have. As you know, trying to cut angles with the older model is like operating a Quija board: one never really knows what will be the outcome.
I agree with you totally. I needed one so bad that I was actually going to attempt to fabricate a metal cutting chop saw on my own, because as you know, swinging your chop saw side to side and juggling long material in a cramped workshop is a hastle. When I found out that Evolution had already done it, it was a no brainer. They aren't cheap, but it's likely the last saw I will ever need and no more having to be a contortionist trying to make a cut on long material. To my knowledge, Evolution was the first to actually come out with a metal miter saw like this.
@@BrandonLund Nice to know I am not alone. One of the things I find with any chop saw where you have to adjust the fence for angled cuts is that no matter how tight you clamp the work, it still creeps during the cutting, thus the saw blade binds and the cut looks like it was done with nail clippers. I generally use a vise grip c-clamp (in addition to the chop saw clamp) to prevent this but often, it gets in the way of the work and the saw and is cumbersome. These frustrations are driving me towards purchasing the newer model regardless of the high cost.
You will really like the clamping system with this saw. You clamp it on either side plus it has clamps on the femnce that you can also use to hold down pressure on the material. So your not only pushing back towards the fence, your also pushing downwards. The clamping system takes a little getting used to but once you;ve made a few cuts it;s pretty self explanatory. Im a huge Evolution fan because their tools are extremely well built for the price. If this same saw were to have yellow paint (dewalt) they would charge well over 1500 I'm sure.
Love that comment about, the football field?? Good one my shop small and 7 foot ceiling. Geez… I need bigger shop!! With 3 motorcycles. On side. But I comprised what I could.
You sound like me! Motorcycle and welder addiction! It seems to go hand and hand. I look at it this way, there are a lot of other things much worse I could be addicted to LOL
When you do it's a game changer. I used portable band saws and grinders for years. You get spoiled going with a saw. The good thing, the prices are really reasonable, especially their combination units. You can pick one up for less than a couple hundred.
The only thing that I see is wrong with it is that the legs need to be adjustable. It is to low for me. I also would like to ask you if you could get zip up hoodies for sale, I need a 2x. That's your video's are the best, learned a lot from them.
Yah I agree. As someone 6 feet tall it would be super easy to add a tube that slips inside the current tubes. Not a big deal, but for 100 bucks I couldn't even build anything close to this nice and durable. The cost to powder coat alone would cost that much. I will see what I can do about the shirts. I'm not overly impressed with the quality of the screen printing. It's not as durable as I would like.
Thank you Christian! It really is a nice setup and it's going to make things a lot easier having things setup rather than lugging it all around my shop
I have the Ryobi version and it is wonderful. I've used it for years. You'll also want extra tool clamps for other tools you'll want to use the stand for.
I totally agree. I still get amazed that Evolution can price their tool this way. For 100 bucks I couldn't build anything remotely close to how well this is built. I'm going to pick up a couple more sets of those brackets for my Dewalt say and another set to mount to a piece of plywood to use as a mobile workbench!
Very nice stand. I have a bench in my shop made for my DeWalt CM saw, but I definitely see the advantage of using this portable stand outside to cut down on the metal shavings in the shop.
I have the DeWalt version of the stand I two DeWalt saws and plan too purchase an Evolution metal saw, I bought an extra set of saw mounts so I can use the miter saw stand for both saws and eventually for the evolution.
Thats the way to do it William. I need to pick up a couple more too. No matter which Evolution metal saw you decide to go with, you will be be very happy with your choice.
You know Scott, I'm just amazed at the price of their tools. You can't even get a small bag of groceries these days for 100 bucks and they are selling a quality tools for that price. I couldnt buy the metal for what they are selling this for. That's why I love their stuff. All of their tools feel solid and I have yet to use a tool that felt cheap and you can't beat their prices.
I have a saw like yours, it's pain in the butt moving to the table to use it. I built a table for my small band saw with extended arms, and was thinking of building one for my evolution saw. So be convertible with my wood saw and table saw. With shelves. With locking wheels. I wasn't aware Evolution sells folding table. That's pretty kewl design. Gave me some ideas though!! Nice showing!!! Thanks!!
COOL. I made the mistake of buying one of the Harbor Frieght stands and, when you fold it for storage, it flips over and the saw crashes on the concrete floor. I need to figure out a fix for that. Suzanne and I have spent the last 2 weeks trying dynamite our way through the shop and 2 truck loads of junk later, we're close but not there.
@@BrandonLund That's less than I paid for my BAUER. Having wheels is useless if you can't stand it up, without it crashing all over the floor and possibly damaging my saw. I might have to look at the Evolution. Thanks for sharing.
They make a couple different models. This is the lighter duty model but its built very well. It's all I need and you can't beat the price. They could easily double the price and it world still be a good deal. (Hopefully they don't see this comment and get any ideas) LOL
As many times as I've used these on job sites, I've never actually owned one myself. I've wanted one for years. For around 100 bucks it's hard to beat. I'm going to buy another set of brackets and mount it to a piece of plywood and also use it as a mobile workbench when it's not holding a saw.
Great question! You can and I've done it. The issue is that the wood saw spins a lot faster than the metal saw which creates heat and dulls the blade quickly. You also have to be careful on the rpm rating of the blade and saw. I've had carbides fly off from the additional speed and heat. It works, it just doesn't last as long
Say goodbye to your clutter maybe, but my clutter is still on the 2 weeks to flatten the curve plan and will be here for a while.. that stand is the same as my Craftsman and has taken a beating.. If a need ever comes up additional brackets are available so they can stay attached to different machines and use the same stand.. I think many brands are the same.. I bought mine a few years ago mainly to build a large deck, I slammed 2 full units of 20' 2 X 6's through it,, nothing bent or broken.. You'll be happy with it...
You always make me chuckle with your subtle whit. "Flatten the curve" LOL. I totally forgot to mention about those brackets being sold separately for additional tools. I'm going to pick up a set and mount it to a piece of plywood, then I will have a portable mobile workbench! Take care brother!
@BrandonLund I can only imagine! As you've seen from my current post , I am working on making another welding cart so that I can have more room in my shop, since I am cramped as well!
Hey man, ive had this saw for 10mths now and ive mounted it to the awesome dewalt dw7260 mounted a 18mm ply base then mounted 355mcs to that, sweet, greetings from over the pond 🇮🇲
Very nice! I hope it works great and lasts a long time. Those chopsaws sometimes have a powerful spring, to bounce the head back upward.. I hope the set up isn’t “tippy” in that regard..
Great Video! I see Evolution needs to update the information on there site says not compatible with the S355MCS. I think they need to watch your channel. By the I ordered one.
Your going to love it! Maybe it's the weight rating? The box said something like 35 pounds or so if I remember correctly. The 355 is pretty stout, probably more than what its rated for but it seemed to hold it just fine, excluding the couple bolts I needed that were less than a dollar. For 100 bucks you really can't go wrong. I'm going to pick up a couple more sets of brackets for my wood cutting saw and mount another on a piece of plywood for a mobile work bench. This thing is pretty rugged.
Thanks man and you and me both! I've told my wife more than once, If they had RUclips back when I started out in construction, I'd be way further ahead right now also.

Seems like a nice stand, but has no wheels. I have 2 other brands that fold down nicely and can be wheeled aroun easily, and conveniently parked. I personally wouldn't want to pack that heavy saw of yours around.
They actually make a nice lineup of saw stands that also have wheels. This is what they consider their "light duty" model but I mounted the 355 to it anyway even though the directions said not to. Probably for the reasons you mentioned. They have some stands that are super heavy duty
