As a mobile welder fabricator. I do alot of hand railing, this saw is by far the best saw I've ever had, shop work and feild work. Done with abrasive chop saws
Yeah, me too. I really hate abrasive saws. Thanks for watching!
Just bought this exact saw. It's a beautiful thing.
I have the original version of the saw (the non miter version) which works great, but wish I’d have waited a bit and got this. (I haven’t looked to see whether they have a retrofit kit …. If not I hope they eventually make one)
For best blade life, you want the cut to be on a leading or trailing edge,
Not directly on the flat surface.
I have the Makita metal cutting saw with a similar blade. It's been a good saw, but this looks much more useful with angle features and clamping options. Time to upgrade!
yeah I've been holding out for another manufacture to do one but its time to ditch that same Makita I've had for 5 years
I have the same Makita, awesome straight cuts but a pain for miters! I kept wishing they would come out with a cold cut mitre saw😮
I watched all of the top rated reviews RUclips sent me on the Evolution saw. Yours is by far the very best, concise and illustrative video review. Your video is more than twice as illustrative as for the saw's individual features, as the others. Evolution should put your review on their site -- most everything I wanted to know. And then you brought out the railroad track. Nicely done. Very much considering a puchase.
Thanks!
I always let the saw spin down before raising the blade, to reduce the risk of having one of the teeth yanked off. The end cut can get caught up and destroy teeth.
Do you have evidence of this wives tale?
totally agree. happened to me a few times so now I let the blade spin down
Thanks for the review. I don't think having the blade contact the entire face of the stock is exactly best practice, but even so, it still appears to have done a decent job of cutting. It looks like the back adjustment would allow the blade contact to be adjusted for a better cutting process. I was wondering if it moves back far enough to start the cut on the corner of your material, especially while mitre cutting, where it would not be possible to mount the stock in any orientation except flat?
About 5yrs ago I bought the evolution rage 14in saw at Home Depot but typical Home Depot is discontinued they carried an avanti brand blade for it that too got the axe now I'm getting a kinda alright Hercules blade from harbor freight hope they keep them around for the extender future but back to this new saw it looks like a shop only tool to me which is great I'd still keep the rage on my welding truck your video is giving me a whole lots of ideas of a dedicated shop saw
It's amazing how it cut the track like that!
Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I just bought this saw and you confirmed that it is a great saw.
The S355 chop saw is €360 but this mitre saw version is over €1000. It's the same machine with a different base. The price is insane.
No, the chop saw is not a miter saw. It also lacks features that the miter saw has.
@@MakingStuff I don't think you understood my point. The machine ie the motor, blade, switch and handle etc are the same but the S355MCS has mitre saw base for a €640 premium
Time is money. When you're making lots of angled cuts it's worth every penny. Not having to flip your 10' plus length of steel end for end after every cut saves so much time. I will be buying one of these for the next job I can justify it.
When you cut that rail road track I was SOLD!
Mine arrived a couple days ago!
Thanks for watching!
Aren't rail road tracks made of hardened steel? Can the blade handle that, or is the track annealed beforehand?
Thanks for the review. I have an Evolution saw and I like it a lot. Keep on keeping on.
Thanks, will do!
My first time seeing this saw. Amazing
Thanks for watching!
2 questions: 1. How well will it cut angle iron clamped flat to the table to make miter cuts? 2. Will it miter 1/2" steel round bar?
It cut railroad track. I think it can handle 1/2 steel round bar.
cool saw. the wand works better if you slide the chip guard a couple inches away from the grip.
Thanks for watching!
Great video! Impressive for sure! How long do the steel blades last?
Not sure, I'm still on the original one.
Wonder how this works in costs compared to fiber blades??
i have the other two they made...was patiently waiting for them to make a mitre version.....we should get an additional discount for contributing to their research :P...do they still have the bolt that lets you control the depth of the cut?..that came in handy for making my plasma table water bed grid...
No it doesn't have any type of stop for depth of cut. It just goes all the way through, LOL. Thanks for watching!
..Ater watching I'm ordering this with those other blades for my new welding/fabrication shop.
Alsome review, the railroad track sold it.👍👍👍
good morning, how do you think this tool is? I'm undecided between Evolution and Bosch GCD12JL.
I love it. I'm not familiar with the Bosch, but this one is very well made.
What a good hands on review!!!
Thanks!
Have you tried it on wood? Hard & soft wood to see the difference?
My 7-1/4" Diablo Steel Demon blades do a pretty good job on wood, but this may be lower rpm.
Anyway, I'd be interested to see.
I have not. Yes it spins lower RPM.
Very good chop saw...nice video
Thanks 👍
Excuse me, do you recommend that it not be used for cutting iron, and is it dangerous, or is it intended and designed for cutting iron?
It is made to cut metal.
@@MakingStuff
Do you advise me to buy the same for use in cutting iron? Is there a company in your opinion that is better than this one, or is this company the best? I apologize for disturbing you, sir
I have one of the originals. I wish I had gotten that version, too sweet!
Thanks for watching!
Is that a fuse box in the background instead of a breaker panel?
Yup, it's an old shop. There are breakers on the larger stuff like the air compressor and 240V plug for the welder.
So do these just have a blade that spins at a slower speed compared to wood miter saws?
Yes it spins slower than wood cutting saws. The blades are also made to cut metal.
1450 RPM compared to wood saw at 4000. There are videos around of people slowing down their wood saw and putting a $79 evolution blade on it. Haven't tried it myself.
Did they discontinue your coupon code? I tried several times, and it wasn't working.
I have reported it to Evolution but it still doesn't seem to work.
What is the quality like? Is it worth the money? It looks like everything shakes like crazy...
It's solid, the shaking is from my table. It has casters on it and shakes when I use the saw.
Is there an advantage to using cutting fluid when cutting aluminum on this saw?
No, this is a dry cut saw
It's a dry cut saw. No fluid needed.
I've found that lubrication significantly increases the life of the blades.
👍 hi from 🇮🇲 great video, i bought one yesterday direct from evo uk, £674 i had 10% discount 🙏 well well its frikin awesome, ive had the s355cps chop saw for around 8mths but man this is the dogs bollocks😂😂 i just removed the handle assy from cps which has a soft start sys and im so impressed, well worth the investment, cps up for sale now!
Love ya chanell man 👍💯
Nice 👍
What is the price of this machine,
is it availableat amazon?
Check the link in description.
New blade is cutting through so fast it's not creating much friction. Once the blade eventually starts to wear out you will get some heat on your material and that's how you know you need a new blade
Thanks for the info.
Nice vid. No discount codes will work on this saw, it's a MAP price locked product.
Discount code worked when video was made.
Great review. Thank you
Thanks!
You kept saying "It did a pretty decent job". I'm not making any money or getting a free saw but that saw didn't do a pretty decent job! It did a great job! I want one! 👍🏻
Great video 🎉. I also built a jet boat. It’s a lot of fun.
Thanks 👍
Be careful. I bought the evolution stand and it was missing a part. Customer service gaslighted me saying the piece was correct, even though the other same piece was correct with a spring and detent ball. No satisfaction from evolution.
Works like magic...wow.
Thanks for watching!
Very nice saw. I have a 14" Evolution Rage II saw which works great and a Evolution 10" miter which also works great. I like how you went all the way through the metal before releasing the power switch, I didn't after using the saw a few times ( thought it would make through the last little bit of metal) and lost a few carbide tips (dumb mistake!!).
Thanks for watching!
Woah, thought I made this comment for a minute
First snarky comment,, that's why it's called a cold saw.
Second,,, let's see your fancy magnet pick up those aluminum chips...
I ordered this saw last night.
Hmm, I was wondering why the magnet didn't work on the jet boat. I must have received a defective one. LOL. Thanks for watching!
My band saw handles most of my needs and the blades are affordable but that Is sweet for miters but the blades are costly. Gotta be careful how and what you cut to prolong the life of blade
Nice of Evolution to “send” you a saw to review. $1k gift. Lol.
What did you name the jet boat
Boat still doesn't have a name. Thanks for watching!
But he wasn't compensated lol
I tried to use your coupon code and it doesn't work. :(
I just tried it and it's working. All one word, all caps. MAKINGSTUFF
Mine leaks oil between the motor housing and the blade. Evolution says its normal. What????
Mine did too, about a month after I made the video.
@@MakingStuff They won't even answer my emails anymore.
Why does it leak oil? Will they replace or fix it?
@@ClintFomby It just drips. They said its normal. Lol. I guess I have to wait until it blows up so they can fix it.
Ok I was wondering , must be coming from gearbox, I hope it’s worth the 850$ because I was wanting to get one for Christmas!
How much is that saw thanks god bless
Link in description.
Looked like a little chatter on the railroad section, not bad considering.
Thanks for watching!
Is it worth 850 dollars??
I think so.
Ordered one a few days ago. They said 1-2 day shipping. That was a lie.
Everything boils to one question: HOW MANY CUTS you can make. If you have to replace usd200 blade after 5 cuts of this rail then it is senseless. 99% of reviews of cold chop saws on YT don't touch this very important subject. Why? Hehe i can imagine why...
I just bought this saw for my projects but want the magnet
Yeah, it works great.
Nice review
Thanks!
Nice review 👍🏻
Thanks! 👍
That saw would probably extend the life of my angle grinder by a couple of years.
Hola como la puedo conseguir en México
It acted like it was losing some cutting power on that track. Wore out already???????
Nope, still going strong.
This looks like a solid saw!
It is, thanks for watching!
seems to be a nice saw but damn 850 dollars. thats gonna be a wait till i find on on marketplace items.
Price please sir
Link is in description.
Your discount code doesn’t work
I've forwarded this to Evolution, they are working on the problem. It seems to work on some items but not others.
Thanks, I bought one anyway 😂 your video sold me
@@MakingStuff Still Does not work on the saw....
I always thought you shouldn't clamp on both sides of the blade because it could cause binding against the blade. Anybody else hear that or am I just out of my mind lol?
Thanks for watching!
@@MakingStuff
Why reply, if that's all you had to say?
That is not a standard railroad track, more like a carnival ride track.
Pretty good cut? Dude that’s an excellent cut! Show me a saw that does better.
There isn't any. Thanks for watching!
Gets free tool but "this is my honest opinion." lol
Been wanting one, but at 1000$ for set up I’ll wait till they send me one! 🤔 maybe if I start a RUclips channel they will send one! For 1000& I can stock up on abrasive wheels and acetylene!!!!!!
It's not $1000. With the discount it is right at $800.
pays for itself quick in a business setting. not to mention the safety aspect with extra clamping options over a standard chop saw. time is money and eyeballs are priceless.
This promo code is NOT VALID
I have reported it to Evolution.
Geiles Teil. Aber. Sie müste bis 60 Grad gehen
كم سعر
Lol yeah they did not pay me a dime they gave me a 850 dollars saw basically paying for the review
Someone commented earlier that the gear box leaked and then you said yours too leaked too after a month. You made no further comment on it, just that it leaked. I don't think I will invest in a $900 saw only to accept the fact that the gearbox leaks oil and the company says that that is normal. Would you care to expand your non biased opinion.
I have confirmation from Evolution's product development team that this is nothing to be worried about. It is not leaking from a gear box. If anyone wants more details, send me a contact request on the Making Stuff web site and I will forward you the info.
$900 for a chop saw? LOL! No Way!
Phillip more like a 1000 by the time one buys all three blades!!
WOW! It must be made of Gold - ;o)
can you cut wood with the iron blade?
Probably, but not recommended.
@@MakingStuff why
Will it bolt to your average wood miter saw stand??
It will bolt to the Evolution universal stand. However, Evolution does not recommend it due to the weight of the saw.
How long will the blade last
It just depends on how well you take care of it. The 15" saw I got a couple years ago still has the original blade in it.
