- This was a little passion project I've been working on for several months now. This video takes a journey through every variation of the original Super Mario Bros. overworld/ground theme that has appeared in official sources between 1985 and July 2018. This includes games from the Super Mario, Luigi's Mansion, Warioware, Mario Kart, Mario Party, Mario Sports, Super Smash Bros., Donkey Kong, Mario vs. Donkey Kong, Paper Mario, Mario & Luigi, and Mario & Sonic franchises, along with several other games, commercials, and television/film/audio media.

I just can't understand, how can this theme be so iconic? I mean- there's not ANY person who doesn't recognizes it. At least not anyone I know
That's easy. A lot of homes around the globe had this theme playing on their TVs for nearly 2 decades. From 1985 all the way to the 2000s
It's such an upbeat theme, too. One that was specifically designed to be well-liked and so that its listeners couldn't get tired of.
Such is the genius of Koji Kondo.
It helped shape an entire generation of people.
Mario, along with his iconic theme, is just as iconic as a character like Mickey Mouse or Kermit the Frog, if not more.

@@artstrange3230honestly I'm pretty late to this conversation but honestly I think Mario has long since over thrown mickey, and has now since become more popular. Whenever I go into like a Walmart I see more Mario themed items than I do mickey, and I see Mario more advertised than mickey. Probably doesn't help Disney has more controversies surrounding them than Nintendo has, infact I don't think Nintendo has any real controversy surrounding them

Takes about 75 or so years after the death of the original artist. Assuming US law, they will assume Koji Kondo is the artist, so...not within our lifetime. Unless Nintendo releases it into public domain.

It ending on Do The Mario is perfect.
While this is amazing, it isn’t every official variation of the theme. There are several versions from official CD releases and ad campaigns in the 80s and 90s that you didn’t use.
The best one is the one from the first game obviously and then the one from Super Mario World

As expected, you missed a few (within your set time frame). Out the top of my head I can think "Mario Chase - Gate" and the intro to "Slide Hill" from Nintendo Land, "Ruddy Road", "Roshambo Start" and "Roshambo Victory" from Paper Mario: Color Splash and the "Ending/Credits" theme from Super Mario Land, just to give a few examples.
I hope you'll make an updated version some day.
There is only 1 Mario game that I can think of that doesn't feature this song. Super Mario Land 2. I count Super Mario Land because the World 4 theme sounds like the bridge to it with a few note changes. Are there any other Mario games that leave out this song?
