I've been to Medellin 11 times in the last 3 years. Different hotels every time. I did a fair amount of research each time before I picked the hotel. Some VERY cheap, some among the best (such as the Dann Carlton, which still was inexpensive by US standards). I'm surprised that you didn't uncover the fact that your original hotel was a dump in a bad area. Although I had amazing food in Medellin, it wasn't the paisa. The basic Colombian diet is LOADED with carbohydrates and meat of all kinds. Usually 3 portions of each in a meal, as you showed. Still, the people seem healthy, probably because they walk everywhere. They do know how to fry food better than anywhere else, and I enjoyed chicharron and empanadas a lot, and they make great french fries. There are many GREAT restaurants that serve more sophisticated food, like the one you visited. I WISH I KNEW THE NAME. I'd like to go there next time I visit Medellin. I also loved a hot dog chain called Los Perritos. They do things with hot dogs that are unreal. The hot dog itself is a minor part of the concoction. The actual hot dogs themselves in Colombia are not anything special, but people eat it as a staple for breakfast and all the time.

Hi, sounds like you guys didn't take time to do research on good Hotels, Medellin has a lot to offer and I just feel bad you guys went through such an awful experience, hoping you both enjoyed our beautiful city after all. ❤🇨🇴🙏🇺🇲✌️
