Why do you need to add a hole in the screw part of the safety eye? Isn’t it already made to work without the hole?

Are the painted eyes safe to put in the washing machine?
I machine wash the eyes after the paint has been cured with epoxy. Don't forget to set the delicate mode.
Where do you buy the iris template..I have looked and can’t find any..anywhere to buy one in the USA?
