Heyyyy lovelies, check out Sharon Lindleys channel here: youtube.com/@SharonLindleyVividDaysArt thank you so much for joining me in my new Ocean series. This is a brand new technique for me ...never used before. It is not new to the world. Let me know how you use your nail foils down in the comments. Any tips or tricks I could use please do let me know.
You already know all the things,Ms.Claire,I would share my method with you.I use Mod podge on the base resin layer, after almost drying I.e.aroumd 45 mins later,I apply the nail foil and press it down smoothly and evenly.Lastly slowly remove the foil to get the designs transferred to the piece
Using a thin coat of Foil Gel will let you completely cover your piece with the Foil! I use it for nails but I also use it to make Initial Key Chains & other jewelry and some ornaments! I do a thin layer of my Foil Gel I cure it then put the Foil down rub it with a small silicone tool then I seal the foils in by doming my piece or some times I just use Diamond Thick or even another thin layer of resin just depends on the look I going for! Hope this helps glad to help if you have any questions about foil gel!!
They came out beautifully I love the Whale. I do a beachy coastal Christmas tree this idea would be awesome for ornaments. Great video so exciting thank you for sharing 🎨
I'm late to the party, but wanted to explain (in case you haven't already heard) about uv gel glue for foils. You just apply it smoothly over the area you want to have the foil. Then you cure the glue for between 15-30 seconds. Different gel glues have different cure times. When you take it out of the lamp, it should be quite sticky and will work well for adhering the foils. I hope this helps! Your projects again are lovely ❤
Also take alcohol wipe and clean the back (plain side) of the foil. While the back of my foil is drying is when I put down my foil gel glue, cure it and it will be crazy sticky, put my foil down, smooth it out, rub it smooth, pull the foil off and boom pretty foiled resin piece
I use a tooth brush to help transfer the foil to the surface. Also, if you will hit the white color with a tiny blast from a blow dryer, it makes perfect waves! Great video!
These are absolutely fabulous...I love the semi abstract of it. Not having the nail foil totally fill the backgrounds gives it a beautiful artsy effect.
I find using an eraser on the end of a pencil to rub down the foil works well or for the more transparent foils lay them on the resin as it cures with ends hanging off then use the hangy bit to peel it off when the resin has cured. I love the holo seafoam foil you use, its gorgeous, oh and nail stamping with gel polish on resin pendants is a lot of fun
Claire, I too am rather new to UV resin but have found if you place the resin in your bezel, affix the foil to top where you want it, and cure for 1 full minute before removing the foil, it meshes wonderfully to the resin without need of the foil glue ( which I also purchased). This method has worked the best for me instead of only tiny bits adhering, all of the foil sticks where you placed it.
Love this, we’ve been doing this in the nail world for some time I’ll message you how I’ve done it, not enough room here! Gorgeous results. Love them xxx
I put a thin coat of uv resin on cure it. Then, put another thin coat on. Put the foil on top of the wet resin, cure again, then pull the foil off. The foil stays on. Then, a top coat of uv resin again. But looks like this works as well. Really like the design effect.
These look super fancy, I like them! I just came to watch this directly from your haul video, and I'm not sure if it's irresponsible to tell you there are all kinds of aquatic animals in nail decals and stickers, too? And, if you want to use your own designs, you can always cut them from vinyl with your cricut. 😊
@@ClairesCraftyCorner Lovely video as always. They also have a lot of very tiny nail flowers decals foiled and unfoiled on Temu for a dollar or two. And that’s in Canadian dollars. Just thought you would like to add to your collection 😂
I do nails as well and have used foils a lot, you might want to fill it up more and cure it so it's more flat and doesn't go up the sides as much. Paint on the glue and cure it for 1 minute or whatever the bottle says, wipe it gently/briefly with alcohol and transpose the foil on with a stick/tool very thoroughly and check it, scrape more, check it etc.
I love these! Very creative! I'm new to resin too, and I am learning so much from you! With my resin tape, I fold the sides over so they're not sticky so I can put my fingers on it when filling bezels and I can hold them still, so much easier than tweezers!
ohhhhh my goodness ... that is absolutely genius thank you so so much xx A real game changer lol I am forever sticking to it I really appreciate your help on that thank yoo xx
there are foil glues that air dry if you are worried about curing the gel foil glue. apply thinly to the area you want the foil to stick to then let it air dry until clear. lay the foil onto the area then use a silicone tool to gently rub the design onto the area. it should stick well to the glue and you just tap and pull the foil until you have it covered. i hope this helps. love your videos.
This is super cute! I like the shark bezel the best. I think I like that one not only for the shark, but because there is slightly less white in it. This is a …new to me… technique. Thank you for sharing!
Hi!! Nail artist over here @bdazzldnails foil gel is either a tacky curing gel or a glue of sorts. So how you did is fine. You might get a fuller transfer with official foil gel. We do the soap bubbles wave trick in nails-that might be fun for these!
I was using nail foils just only for the back side and then I am doming it with uv resin. I never used it inside the bezel.... so I have to try it how it comes out if I use the nail foil inside....thank you for sharing ❤
Miss Claire, I've done this and you can just trace the foil with the inside of the bezel and cut it out and use it as an insert. Make your life easier! :)
I love your work! Hawai`i is my lifetime home, and the ocean means a lot to me. These are beautiful and so creative and unpredictable. I'm moving house right now and can't wait to set up a new organized craft space. My current space has been devolving for a while. May I ask where you get your bezels? Aloha!
Really cool, Claire! I love the whale..shark...whatever! 😅 I've been too chicken to try the nail art stuff, too. I had NO idea how transfer foils worked, AT all! So, thank you for finding out! I look forward to seeing how you use the whole haul! 😊💕
Oh these are stunning!! I had to rush over and watching this one immediately after seeing your haul video and it did not disappoint! I really am interested in those nail foils now too!! Might be a whole other hobby of supplies I can start collecting! Lol
Now that the fronts are done you could turn them over and add a colour to the back, white, blue, black, silver, whatever looks best from the front. Then another layer of uv resin to coat the back, domed a bit if you wanted to. You may want to check up Daniel Cooper. He does absolutely amazing things with UV resin jewelry. He has cost me a fortune because everything he does I want to do too. Just what I needed, more molds and colours and Mica. Prepare to spend the evening watching. He is amazing. That’s where I got the idea for the backs. Enjoy your new toys.
Claire, thank you so much for sharing this with us! I'm so happy you got these & im excited to see how else you might use them. I work mostly with polymer clay (btw, i loved your poly clay projects, so beautiful!) & got a bunch of nail foils to use with it. I also love resin but im just not creative enough in either medium to come up with good ideas, so i have tons of beautiful foils that im dying to use in/with clay & resin but i just can't figure out how. This video is already so helpful, thank you!
Fantastic Claire for someone who don't do nails never knew you could but this foil, loving the results too & really need to start making these as all gorgeous 🌊🌊🌊💙💙💙
I stick the nail transfers/foils onto the wet resin and cure all together then remove when cured and pull off the backing from the foil it gives all fuller image stick rather than bits here and there
I cure my UV resin and Epoxy completely then use Aleene's Tack It and get tacky which transfers the foils perfectly. I use foils on my polymer clay too. 😊
Thank you for this video. I just got into UV resin and received a nail foil haul from Temu. I'm going to use mica powder for color though. I make zipper charms. Can't believe this opened a new world for me. My mind is exploding with ideas. I love the lace foils you got. These pieces are all beautiful. Thank you again. Blessings and hugs. 🤗🦋
Hi claire just wanted to mention I am not sure but I have wood floors which have polyurethane on it and I must say this does go yellow over time and gives a ting colour so wondering if this will be the same as uv resin ?
Heyyyyyyy lovely .... as far as I know every resin will yellow over time if its clear. However ... I have yet to see a 5 years later or 10 years later video ... so im not sure about UV at this stage xx
Hi Claire iv got a lots of nail art stuff, iv had for years just never got round to usinb them yet, think im goinb to start planning my video's as iv got lots of ideas written down and i never look at them 😂 then i take agex to decide what to do 😂, love this idea 🥰 thanks for sharing ❤❤❤ xxx

A quick fine spray of methylated spirits takes the bubbles out. X

Thankyoooooo so much lovely ❤️❤️

They are so pretty.
I love them simply beautiful and beautifully simple.

The making video was awesome, had fun and learning both with you,Ms.Claire.Keep up the good work 👏 🙌 💜💙
I use foil glue on set resin then press nail foil down & dome. Works a treat.

what i love about your videos is you mentioned the failures in the process....
Thankyoooooo ❤️❤️❤️ I think it's very important ❤️❤️❤️
If you put the glue then foil both under the lamp it comes out beautifully
Love watching you perform your MAGIC!!! I must still get the courage to play with resin.
Love all of them!!! The two color ones are my favorite!! Thank you for sharing Ms Claire!!!
I love the round one with the angel 'cloud' the most 🥰
But square is a close second but all are lush xx

How about using a silicone stick? Whether it be a pointed one or a slanted one. I think you might be able to get a small bit at a time.
Beautiful imagination ❤
Theses are amazing ❤❤
Beautiful. Can that tape be used with apoxy resin? Thank you!
Hi I’m brand new to this where can I find these foils please? They are beautiful!
