I've been pretty active with crochet for some time now, but this is the first time I have _ever_ seen these tips! Amazing! They add so much character and expression to the doll. Thank you for sharing! 💌
How do you get the needle to go around the cap of the safety eye so that the yarn would be right next to the eye? This is the problem I encountered trying to add details to the ey.
On #3 how do you keep the string from lifting (over the eye)? Stay down? When I try it goes under or is to loose and lifts off the crochet. Do you felt it or glue them down? How are your so perfect?? It’s amazing
Thanks so much! Yes, it can definitely be difficult going around the backs of the eyes. For the embroidery floss eyelashes, I sew them on before I attach the backs of the eyes. But for the others, since the yarn stitches go in front of the eyes, I have to attach the backs first or the yarn will slip behind the eyes. So I bring the yarn to the inside of the head (through the opening at the bottom) with each stitch, because it's almost impossible to sew those little stitches right around the eyes! I hope that helps! Thanks for your comment!
So sorry for my delay in responding! Yes, this can definitely be an issue. Bringing the needle/yarn through to the opening at the bottom of the head each time helps (instead of trying to work right around the eye the whole time). For eyelashes, I sew them on before I attach the backs of the eyes. OR, wait to put the backs on, then sew the stitches around the eyes but leave them loose and wait to secure the stitches with a knot. Then attach the backs of the eyes, and then pull the yarn tight and secure it. Does that make sense? Let me know if you have other questions!
Thank youuuu! I replied to your other comment as well, but here is the link to the pattern: www.theresascrochetshop.com/products/timmy-tiny-turtle-amigurumi-crochet-pattern

Thank you! These are great to learn! How do you deal with the backing of the safety eye. I find it difficult to needle around it. Thank you!

Is there a pattern for the turtle!?
Is there a tip to getting around the back of the safety eye? It’s always in the way when I try to get the needle close enough to the eye! 😩
