- These cartoonish crochet eyes are a great alternative to using safety eyes on many of your projects! I came up with a simple pattern that can be customized in any color! Use them on your animal amigurumi, hats, character blankets and pillows, and more!
UPDATE: Pattern now includes smaller size eyes! The original eyes are about 2 inches. The smaller size is about 1 inch: www.repeatcraf...
I am using Red Heart Super Saver Yarn to create these bold eye colors and sturdy stitches. You can shop dozens of shades on Yarnspirations.com: bit.ly/44zJwDM
Materials:
-Red Heart Saver Yarn in colors Black (pupil), Turqua, Spring Green, Perfect Pink, and Aruba Sea (for the eye color examples pictured), and White (for the outside of the eye).
Size H Crochet Hook
Tapestry Needle
Crochet Cartoon Eyes Pattern (Make 2):
starting with black yarn
Magic Ring, chain 1 and make 10 SC in ring, pull tight, (10 SC)
join to first SC with eye color (blue in the example photos)
Round 2: 2 SC in each stitch around, join to first SC with white yarn (20 SC)
Round 3: SC in each stitch around, join, fasten off leaving long strand of white. (20 SC)
Weave in all other loose ends.
With a strand of white yarn and your tapestry needle, create an eye reflection/sparkle by weaving the yarn through two stitches of the corner of the black pupil. I looped the yarn 2-3 times and then knotted it on the backside. - Хобби
These are great
You can make them as big or small as your amigurumi project
Now I feel confident making toys for my grandson
Thank you for this video. I don't like using safety eyes, so this is a perfect solution for me.
Love this …. But will use the beginning white strand to make the reflection to save a step!
I love these and it's a simple pattern that can be downsized to make smaller ones I can't wait to try
hi, i am new to crocheting - how do you downsize? just a smaller yarn and needle like going up in size, or do you have to do math?
@00zarzu00 so how I downsized it was just cut everything in half. So insted of 10 in the mr I only did 5 and so on
Beautiful eyes. I’ve been waiting for these to come out.
Instead of weaving in your white end and cutting you could use that end to do the pupil highlight before securing and trimming.
Thank you
Thats exactly what i thought. Weave the tail thru on the back to where you want and there you have it. Two less ends to deal with.
So cute. They look so much prettier than the safety eyes ❤
I enjoyed this video. Thank you for sharing 😊
Very useful and safe. Great idea 😊 Thank you .
I just bought your book and my first animal is the elephant. My friend is doing a jungle themed nursery and I plan on making all the jungle animals in your book. Since these will be for a newborn, I was worried about using the plastic eyes and was planning on attempting to stitch some on. These are perfect! They may be a bit big but I'm thinking I could try using 6 sc of the black for starters and see how big they come out. I'm so excited to work on these. Thank you for the online tutorials. They are super helpful, especially for learning the magic ring.
Not only is your work amazing but it's simple to follow along with even with how fast you go. Honestly your speed is impressive!
I've been wanting to make amigurumi patterns but don't like the plastic eyes. So this tutorial is timely. These eyes are perfect. I just made a pair watching your video. Thanks so much for sharing!!

Hi! Thank you so much for the crochet eyes
Thanks for this!!!! I love the way those eyes look! They’d certainly make a project pop! 😍
So cute.. can u make those smaller ?. If I use cotton with 2.0 needle.. how big are they then? U still need 10 in the magic ring? Or can u do 6.. then go to 12. And third round again 12.. ?
Great option instead of safety eyes! Thanks!
So cute!!

You could use the tail end of the white to do the last bit instead of weaving it in

I have been looking for something like this. Thank you. My only wish is that you could go a bit slower as I need to see everything so I understand it better. It is a simple pattern though so it was fairly easy.

I'm making a Granny Square blanket and want to put these eyes on it. Do you have a video to show how to attach to a blanket?
Can you show a video on how you sew them on your project? Or explain it to me. Thanks!
Gracias por compartir 😘🇲🇽👏👏👏👏👏🌺🌺
I've been looking for a way to make eyes to put on 🌵 cactus. Lol not joking! I live in the desert and some of the cactus look people. I want eyeballs that won't hurt the plant but won't deteriorate in rain fast
Me gusta su trabajo podría darle en español
Is thear a way to make them smaller
Use smaller yarn/hook
how would this work on almond shaped eyes? also a mix of grey and hazel as well?
Is there a way to start them with a chain? I’m horrible at making a magic circle
I love these, but they are so big. I need some that would be equivalent to a 12mm-16mm safety eye.
Following
I bet you could accomplish that using a 3 weight yarn and an E or F hook.
What size are the eyes when you use these amount of stitches?💜
can I make them small for amigurumi projects that need 6 mm eyes
What malkes the eye shiny
هل تصلح لدمية فقط وليست للحيوانات ؟
Where is the hat pattern that we see?
What size kneedle
How big are these pls
Sarah my eyes are blue
How can you make them smallt
❤👌🥰🙏
what is size H 🤔 please
5
😍🥰👏👏👏🧶👍😘❤️
Why use the white yarn before you finish the odd end off. As have two white. One for sowing eye one the other you can use for the white bit. Save cutting it off. The you will also save yarn.
Saying that I love you videos. Probably just me being lazy. Lol.
