took me 19 episodes of inital d to complete this, very easy to get the hang of and demonstrated very well. I loved how you made it clear what stitches you were going into, but also made it so we can have a little independence in crocheting all the rows, and choosing our own length.
Hola! La tejí para una amiga en color negro y la amó. En España ya va haciendo frío y es ideal para mantener cuello y orejas calentitos. Muchas gracias por el tutorial.❤😊
If you don’t like the point on the hood, then I recommend you turning the work inside out and just crocheting or sewing the point down a few cm or inch. So when you flip it back the point won’t be there anymore
hello, i stumbled across your video and i just wanna say thank you for sharing this easy pattern, my aunt currently is on chemo treatment for her lung cancer, so i decided to make the balaclava for her and she seems to like it! she usually wears beanie but she doesn't like on how her neck is exposed, hence why i made balaclava for her. again, thank you for kindly share this for free, i hope you have a great day, bless you❤
Hii! You're very welcome. I hope you aunt gets well soon. Sending her lots of strength and positive energy as she goes through chemo. It means a lot to know that this tutorial can help bring some comfort to someone special. Wishing you both all the best! ❤❤❤

I had so much fun making this for my first big crochet project. So easy to follow! I love the way you explained things. And on the topic of the pointiness per everyones comments I just made mine bigger and then it became more baggie. Thank you!!
I used about 1 and a 1/5th spool. I did make mine extra large though so it was a bit saggier and longer around the neck. One spool should be fine with her video!@@samanthawahlbom9532
I made this balaclava, it looks great on you the color is amazing too. But when i put it on, the back looks so pointy that i thought my head looked like mega mind. I didn't like that pointy look so I'm gonna start a new tutorial. I think you should've show the back too
Hi! There’s a way to get rid of the pointy bit. With the scoodie folded flat from the side, push the pointy bit in to the wrong side, try form a curvy/rounded shape from the right side. Use stitch markers to help maintain the shape. Then from the wrong side, sew along the curve to seal it off. If you’d still like to start a new one, find one that’s worked in rounds. If it’s worked in the same way as mine, it will be pointy at the top.
I just put the pointy end inwards in a way it looked good for me. then put some stitch markers to secure and sew it like that :)@@ashleighchernikeeff5956
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I just finished mine and it's perfect! I would love to post a picture of it lol. And BTW the back wasn't pointy on mine, it is just wonderful. ❤❤❤
this tutorial was really easy but i just wish you showed us the back of the hat because its really pointy and ive tried to get rid of it many times but its not working, so in just gonna have to take it apart
THANK THANK THANK YOU!!!!! just finished making mine in a nice purple and it felt good to finish a first big project, really appreciate your instruction and calming voice lol. It did turn our a little pointy, now that it is already sowed together is it too late to make it less pointy? Thanks again I hope you have a lot of love and care in your life!
Thank you so much 💕 This design intentionally features a pointed end at the back. However, if you wish to soften the point, it can be done quite easily. Start by folding the point to the wrong side, creating a gentle curve on the right side when the hood lays flat with the left or right side up. Secure the shape by using pins or stitch markers. From the wrong side, seal off the pointed corner to prevent it from reverting to the right side. This will give your hood a more rounded shape. Hope this helps 🥰
Thanks! It's designed to be pointy at the back, like a hood. However, you CAN make it more curvy by tucking in the corner and seal it from the wrong side.
You’re a lovely lady but this tutorial 😭😭 idk what I did and if I’d read the comments before maybe I would’ve picked another tutorial instead because I seem to have a problem that other people have. Why is the back so pointyyyy😭😭😭 it literally looks like a square
The vertical measurement (st number) is relatively forgiving compare to the circumference (row count) because of the string. So I think it's safe to simply take away a few inches from the stitch count. However, for the row count, I suggest looking up the child's head circumference based on his/her age, minus the face width; this should be your target row count. Hope this helps!
I loved this video, this project looks so cool and I look forward to do it, so I just wanted to know how much yarn did you use? Thanks a looooot ❤🌷🧚🏻♀️
Hello, I love it and I’m going to try it, I have a question, Where can I find this brand of thread? Do you have the name of a site if possible ? Your work it’s wonderful 🩷 Thanks for your answer ☺️
Thank you 😊 I think the yarn is only available in Australia. It's called 4 seasons marvel, specifically made for a local store and they don't ship internationally. However, you can easily find similar yarns with 8 ply/weight 3 and acrylic composition.
Is there a possibility this craft can be done without the initial back bump crochet? Like using the regular stitch instead? I always have difficulty getting my hook in the back bump, maybe my tension is too tight but I always have such a hard time.
Hey! hopefully you see this as i’m still quite new in crochet. I was wondering whether it’s a problem if it doesn’t come out completely come out as a rectangle, as my over time (after like 3 rows) started to almost bend, im guessing that’s due to the tension so not sure if i have to start over or if it will be okay once i kind of fold it over??? looks great on you!!
I’m not sure what’s going on with mine. My yarn recommends a size 5mm hook and I’m using a 6mm for that loose look and I worked up 18 rows and It’s not looking very big. I’m kinda just crocheting till it fits my head but it looks about half the size of yours when it should be looking bigger… Also my rib isn’t laying flat. Should I keep adding rows or just block it out and hope for the best. I’m honestly so confused
the same thing is happening to me rn! i’ve done 18 rows but i can tell it isn’t going to fit on my head. i think my tension is way too high so the rows have sort of clumped together. how many rows did you end up doing??
@@aloegarden OHHH OKAY so i did about 22 i think then put some safety pins in and stretched and pulled and it was actually TOO big at that point. I guessed that my yarn was too soft and wasn't holding its shape enough (since the yarn they used looked more structured). I took two rows out and left it with 20, since we'd add some more chains around the face later. It ended up fitting but definitely isn't baggy. I'll probably give it a wash and see how it looks later.
Jeeez i started 2 days ago, mine is stiff af and looks like a carpet piece😂 i guess i did it too tight and i was so struggling to even start... guess i have to start over 😭
I find it easier to draw the stitches together at the top from the inside and then I pull up on a couple of the inside stitches to kind of tuck it so it more round from the outside. Hope this helps. 😊

Heyy, can you also make this with half double crochet? I have kind of mohair-y yarn so otherwise i have alot of small holes wind can pass through
Yes, you can. You'll need to work more rows to reach the same depth though.
How can I do this one with cat ears? I saw your other video but I like this style better.
You'll need to make the ears separately. I'm thinking about making a tutorial on that.
Jeeez i started 2 days ago, mine is stiff af and looks like a carpet piece😂 i guess i did it too tight and i was so struggling to even start... guess i have to start over 😭
Lovely work! Did you use cotton or an acrylic yarn? What size is the yarn and hook that you used?
Thanks! This is acrylic yarn, 8 ply / weight 3. I believed I used 5 mm, if I remember correctly.
Can I use double crochet foundation chain for the first row?
Yes, you can use that.
Hi! Can I do this with mohair yarn alone? Or can I mix normal yarn with mohair? Kind of like using two strings together at the same time?
Hi! Either can work. Just make sure you choose a suitable hook if you decide to mix them together.
Mine got very pointy where I crocheted it together. How can I avoid that?
Use a loose tension, a larger hook or you can use a yarn needle to sew it together. Sewing using the mattress stitch would guarantee a flat seam.
I find it easier to draw the stitches together at the top from the inside and then I pull up on a couple of the inside stitches to kind of tuck it so it more round from the outside. Hope this helps. 😊

Hi! Yes, this one is pointy at the back, more like a hoodie.
is there a reason why you did BLO dc instead of regular double crochets? also, do we not have to chain 1 or 2 in the beginning of each row? thanks!
BLO gives that striped texture I wanted and ch-1/ch-2 is replaced by that special dc I did at the beginning of the row, which makes the edge look better.
Hi! How much yarn did you use? I have 1 ball of 170m - is that enough? Thanks!
Around 100 g I think, so 170 g should be enough!
is there a simple way to make it so that the back point is longer and droopy like an elf hat?
Hmm I think for the hood part, you can work more rows to make it deeper, so the back point is bigger? Otherwise, you'll need a different pattern.
Is there a specific reason you began the double crochet in the first stitch the way way you did?
Yes, the edge looks better and is easier to work into.
Can you plz tell me how long does it take to finish it!?
I took me 2 afternoons but the time it takes for you may vary depending on your speed.
I am still at the beginning, crocheting the 4th row, but it shrunk and isn't at 30 cm anymore, is it possible to continue the first rows and make it longer?
Hi, sorry I'm not sure what you mean by "continue the first rows and make it longer"

I used 94 g but some people used more than 100 g. Depends on your yarn, hook, tension, etc. Prepare more to be safe ☺️
how much yarn do you need? i have 151 meters - is that enough?
I used almost 100 g. That's 283 g.
