    Great demo. I was in a guitar store here in the UK, and I caught a glimpse, of a beautiful blue one. It stayed in my mind for years. I always dreamed of having a Gretsch since I was a child.
    I never thought I could afford one Nothing sounds like a Gretsch, but nothing sounds like a Fender.I got mine in blue yesterday. I'm blown away by the quality, and sound.
    It was packed so well, it took me ages to unpack, but well worth it. I'm thrilled!. Wish I had a girlfriend who'd buy me a guitar. Loved the story. Great playing.

    I just bought one on the used market. It's my first Gretsch also. I swapped the bridge to a roller bridge which helped with tuning stability. It cost $20 on Amazon and popped right on with zero mods. If you do the same, make sure you get one with a post width of 74mm, not 73.5mm.
    I might have the nut swapped to an authentic bone if it still has issues. "Synthetic bone" is a fancy way of saying plastic. Overall I like the guitar a lot.

    I have two Gretsch guitars, both double cuts, one semi hollow, one solid body. Both are well made and sound sweet but both have neck dive. I will not buy any more without trying first. I suspect that the larger bodies ballance better. This is a promising new channel.

      Yeah neck dive can ruin a good guitar,. I’m happy I got to try it or I may not have taken the chance, but the balance on this one is good. Thanks for watching!

    Great video on the Gretsch Kyle. That Cadillac Green is an awesome color. The tones are killer! I hope the Bigsby serves ya well and ain't a hemorrhoid was broken in. I'm fixing to invest in the Gretsch 2210 Streamliner Jet Club. I'm thinking of getting one in the Gunmetal or Gold Dust colors. They're a hardtail design and three hundred George Washington's worth a try I figure.
    Enjoy your new Gretsch and treat that young lady friend right. She sounds like a keeper, hoss! Keep those videos rolling out Kyle. I always enjoy them. Take care!

    A Bigbsy isn't made for "Dive Bombing" or pulling up for that matter. Just to get a bit of vibrato from a note or a chord.

    Excellent didactic video! Thank you so much for your clear explanation and important details.
    I am at the point to buy me 2nd electric guitar. I have a magnificent USA original Fender Stratocaster and I was one minute before to buy the famous Epiphone Les Paul Custom Black, just to comlement the 2 main electric traditional Gibson and Fender sounds.
    And then I have remembered Gretsch, which always have been a Brand very respected by me. Then I said; let's have a look on Gretsch options. Then I have discovered a total new dimension of sounds (obviously considering middle price range guitars) and I heard first the amazing G5220 and going further, this beautiful, high quality Gretsch G5230 with Gibsby and I abandoned my longed Epiphone Custom Les paul, when I saw 3-4 comparison videos between Gretsch and Epiphone.
    The G5230, G5232, and G5260, are absolutely superior not only in their pristine and powerful sounds gamma, but also-which is always important to me-about the quality in its gorgeous look.
    I have also watched several vidios comparing the Gibson Studio (cheapest Gibson, about U$D 1.300-U$D 1500) and with so much surprise I have found that the Gretsch middle models not only defeated Epiphone most expensive guitar as the les Paul Custom is, but also the Gibson Studio!! Spending less than half of a Gibson Studio budget!!
    Each video I watch, I re-confirm that these Black Filter'Tron Pick Ups are amazing, which united to the high quality look of the G5230 for U$D 500!. No doubt that Gretsch is a "intelligent" choise. RÄ.

    Cool review. It's incorrect that rt handed only have a bigsby, they have hardtails too. The bigsby guitars have filtertron pickups and the hard tails have a hotter broadtron pickups.

  • @somebodyelseuk
    @somebodyelseuk 2 года назад

    There is a hardtail version, but the pickups are different. The creaking is the spring in the Bigsby, something to do with the washers at each end of it not being seated properly IIRC. The stability issues are the bridge and nut, not the Bigsby - same as the vast majority of trem units.

    I've got a G5232T and a G5230T and they both could not stay in tune when using the bigsby, but I was able to fix it with a little work and a couple small purchases:
    I bought a Golden Age Roller Bridge (12" radius) from amazon (about $44), then drilled through from the back to fit over the Gretsch's bridge posts (just gotta find an appropriate sized drill bit and be careful). I also got a set of Hipshot Grip-Lock tuners which drop right in ($60 from stratosphereparts).
    With those two additions, you can dive-bomb it all day and it stays in perfect tune. You can also improve the lightness and silkiness of the bisgby with the BricksBiggsFix V3 and his Super-Squishy-Spring (which together is about $70 more), though that's totally optional.

    Good review.I bought one of these about six months ago. Wonderful guitar, but out of the box the master volume pot lacked adjustment. I took it to my local luthier, and for $70 he’s gonna make it right. That bumps the price a bit, but I’m OK with that, because otherwise I really like this guitar. I could go through the warranty struggle, but for the time and money I’d rather avoid that aggravation. I have a couple other Gretsches so I know it’s gonna be alright.

    I am looking at this model, and the 59 Epi Les Paul. If you only could get one , which one would you pick?

    • @onemoreguitarchannel
      @onemoreguitarchannel  4 года назад

      I’d go with the 59 if I had to pick one. The pickups sound great, the finish is nice, the electronics are all USA, and it comes with a very nice case. The weight and playability are about the same on both, though the neck on the 59 is slightly more rounded. The Gretsch is cool if you are interested in the Filtertron pickups and the Bigsby, it sounds great too.

    Hi! are the potentiometers working normally? I ordered the same guitar, when adjusting the tone knob, I hear a ground noise, and the volume knobs do not completely remove the sound. is this normal?

    • @InspiringTracks
      @InspiringTracks 3 года назад +1

      I had the same issue, aparently this has to do with Gretsch wiring. As oposed to Gibson if you roll down the volume of only one pickup while on the middle position the transition is smoother and the sound don't completely cuts of when you reach zero, but the downside is that the hum never goes out with the volume down. The solution is to swap the signal wires on the main volume pot. Hope that helps!

    bigsby's on Gretsch guitars are better utilized on upper priced Gretsch,
    because they put a little more time and attention to it.
    they are more expensive to put together, which is why even on the Streamline and lower priced Electromatic the T versions cost more than the Standard version.
    you have to go up to the 800 dollar range or higher to get a good working bigsby,
    think of it like Fender and the whammy bar. on Squier there not very good,
    but on Fender American or upper Mexican range, that's the only way.
    the Bigsby is synonymous with Gretsch, it's kinda there own thing.
    Gretsch are made in Japan, but the entry level Streamline and the lower Electromatic range are made in China. the pots are from Korea, but don't quote me on that.

    • @onemoreguitarchannel
      @onemoreguitarchannel  3 года назад

      I don’t play much heavy stuff but it handles gain well from what I’ve tried. The pickups have a low output though so you may want something a little hotter.
