Holy Crap! That's one of the best clean tones ever! Also, that clean demo was one of the most beautiful pieces of music I've heard in a long long time. Stunning.
That great Gretsch sound! Gretsch and PRS do it right and are not ashamed to put their name on affordable instruments and want new players to join the fold. What with the great features and awesome finishes what’s not to like. Gotta love ‘em. Great job Cooper and Chris!
I agree, but Gretsch kindof has no choice, as they don't even have US-made models anymore (outside the Fender Custom Shop-made ones). The highest end Gretschs are made in Japan now, so having a "Squier" line would make no sense.
I had been looking at these Jets for awhile and kept going back and forth on them. I went to my local shop recently, saw the Bristol Fog, demoed it and layed my money down. I didn't know about these new models and colors and that one spoke to me. Love the brown and black color scheme. I have a Les Paul and just prefer single cuts but appreciate that this is different enough to warrant the purchase and offer a new playing experience. Not much has excited me about newer guitars for awhile but this one hit all the right spots for me. Definitely inspired.
I have the midnight sapphire semihollow streamliner which I’ve freaking love and I’m about to buy that Bristol fog model of G5220. I think that thing is so great looking.
The problem with loving music and being a guitar player is all the options out there. so many great built instruments to fit any style and virtually any budget. Thanks for keeping me broke with you gear demos lol. Keep rocking everyone!
Traded a Fender Duo-Sonic for a G5220 a couple of years ago. One of my favorite guitars. Slightly bigger than a Les Paul but lighter. Plays and sounds great!!!
I have two of these. My frets have been fine. I did replace the Nuts with Graphtech and put on locking tuners. Honestly with a good setup they don’t need anything else.
I have a 2019 ltd run in Aleutian Blue. My frets down the fret board needed filing. The bridge and pots are garbage. I upgraded the pots to CTS, replaced with Gotoh Tune-O-Matic bridge is a must. Change in tuners and pickups to your liking. I have Kluson Contemporary locking tuners. Now I live it! My G5420TG made in Korea is definitely a notch up to the point where I like it almost as much as my Professional Double Anniversary made in Japan. I say almost because my Double Anniversary has an ebony fretboard vs rosewood and it resonates more.
I recently got a electromatic jet in Bristol fog great feeling guitar my biggest issue is there isn't much in the after market world like pickups and custom wirring harnesses for coil splitting and series and parallel switching
These have a lot of range. They can do very clean jazz tones that have more sweetness and depth than other solid bodies, and can go full on trashy. Really playable. So much bang for the buck.
Hey y’all, love your demos and Cooper your playing ability is unreal!! Great job, have y’all done a demo yet on the Gretsch G2655T P90 FideliSonic pickups? Great sounding guitar and I’d love to hear/see Cooper’s creativity on one…keep up the great work and backstories in y’all’s content!! Cooper say hey to the folks for me!! Dave O
i bought the G2655 and the P90's are terrific..bridge is so much better then my other guitars ..not ice picy ,,very usable ,just a nice guitar,,,just ordered the 5220 in bristol fog ,,,cheers from australia
Darrell Braun did a great comparison between a pro series Jet with TJ Jones PowerTron pickups against a Gibson Les Paul. The Gretsch did not disappoint in any way.
I use my Black Panther for my church services. I've wanted to take another Gretsch now. I already put in tours and 9 years of gigs and church. I'm looking at the 5230T for church and gigs. All models don't work. Those clean pickups sparkle, however the Black Panther has better Overall tone. The Bigsby on a Jet is definitely a must!
I saw Dan from That Pedal Show playing a red one of these the other day while researching Victory Copper Amp and I am like I totally need to get one! Not that many on the used market. Which might suggest they are keepers!
I’m really enjoying the videos you guys have been doing together. Nice to see you having fun and being yourselves! Sounds cheesy. We like it tho. Or at least I do.
It is probably Bristol, England as the city is on the southern/eastern side of the Severn Estuary which I would expect to have heavy fog. The Severn Bore is also the world's longest inland surf.
Just had one here. Loved much about the guitar...BUT. I have never had a guitar with so many sharp frets. Literally every fret on both sides of the fretboard was unfinished and many could cause damage. The much vaunted control set up seemed to have a 3 position master volume - off/on quite loud/on very loud. There was no taper to speak of. Pity, because it could have become one of my favourites.
I bought a G5230t a few years back I really liked the guitar as far as build quality and playability but I hate those black top pickups. I could never get a tone I liked out of them so I ended up swapping them with some Gabojo Mr.2000 Dynasonic style pickups and it really made the guitar come alive! It has way more sustain and output and the tone’s I get are great! The Electromatic’s are good bang for your buck and are great guitars but the stock pickups really hold these back and replacement pickup options are a little pricey but it’s still a lot cheaper than buying a higher end Gretsch and to me it was well worth it.
I just traded an epiphone les paul standard pro for one of these, and I think I found my new favorite guitar. These things feel great, look great and rock!
Gretsch has some very good guitars... I tried a hollow body electromatic a few days ago and, man... it has suck a great tone... IMO I would even buy that one instead of a Gibson Casino. Great quality dude. Thanks for these reviews!
I just bought this guitar! Was just looking around for a sound demo. Tbh i only bought it because i read somewhere iot sounded good and because of that Bristol Fog Color.
I have a Gretsch solid body double cutaway electromagnetic that I run thu a roland street cube no pedals and no bells nor whistles and I dont like the sound. Please make a suggestion as to amping or preamping. Im a real novice working with sound and not sure how to get the best or fullest sound from this beautiful instrument. Please help me. Also I love ALAMO music. PS: That clean sound is so wonderful
The best thing about these guitars is their user friendly, it's not hard to play one. However, they're relatively inexpensive and you kind of get what you pay for. Still I enjoy playing them more than say a strat because unless you got longish fingers and strong hands this is gonna be one of the better bangs for your buck. It's not a professional guitar but it's a really cool, well made step above toy.
This "Ressurection" is one of the best things to ever happen in the musical instrument industry. Gretsches Quality control from my experience is at perfection or at least very close to it indeed. Affordable excellence as well!
If I had to have ONE electric guitar, would this be it? This would be compared to a Chris McKee unsigned Signature Taylor 914ce LTD. What say you Chris and Cooper? Thanks
I had the 5122 Electromatic before upgrading to the 6122 Country Gentleman. The Electromatic was very impressive made in Korea guitar. The sound between the two was not that different. Fit and finish was superb. The Country Gentleman is a truly remarkable guitar, and absolutely too shelf, but the Electromatic was not that far off especially for one third the price.
i'll go one step further and say the "semi-hollow version, sorta" of the jet, the g5655 is THE most underrated single cut guitar. you loose a *tiny* bit of punch at high gain when compared to the jet, but it deepens and broadens the jet's fantastic clean tones so much the trade-off is worth it. if i wanted super punchy gains, i'd get a les paul.
I really wanted to like these but I had 3 of them out of the box in the last 2 weeks with multiple defects, dented fret boards, wiggly frets, indentations on the top of the body, smeared paint, etc.. Seems like the the Jr jet from Indonesia has better quality control. for some reason Gretch decided it a good idea to manufacture there more expensive electromatics in China as it states on the headstock. I gave up on gretch and bought a Fender player for about the same money and am super stoked with it. I will look into gretch still. Hoping to see them up there game on QA. Fender came with a signed off Quality control card attached to it. As for gretch.. nothing. Well let's just hope the bad eggs I got were a product of a shit Monday and they made better ones the rest of the week. 🤞🤘
Gretsch just makes me think of Malcolm Young and that great sound of those hard hitting power chords. Cooper sheds an entirely different light on these guitars ( in a nice way of course ). I’ve never owned one, maybe some day.
Purchased a G5222 just after Christmas, very good guitar for the money, but hangs funny on a strap as it puts the headstock a little bit too far left for my liking, but, if you ever buy one, change the electronics for a better taper.
I just bought one it actually feels great. The construction feels good and aesthetics are great for a “made in china” guitar not gonna lie the craftsmanship and sound is on par with my Gibson sg and my Gibson was like triple the price
I know you’re country but if Chris Shiftlett ever quit the Foo Fighters I think you’d be a perfect fit. Btw, he’s country too (side band) as if you didnt already know.
I have kind of a nerdy question. Would it eventually be possible not to place guitars right behind Cooper and Chris? Depending on the camera angle sometimes it looks like the necks grow out of their heads. That looks so funny it often distracts me from what they are saying. And as I like them both very much I would like to wish a tiny change of scenario. Maybe this request is a little bit "monky" but I hope, I did not offend anyone. Best regards, Dietmar from Germany 💚
@@joedrumsta3317 I'm with you. My G5220 is my absolute favourite guitar for clean tone. Not something I would ever have said about the three Les Pauls I have owned.
