I'm now an even bigger fan of you now that I know you're a Giants Fan. I pray to god that when your guy Munetaka Murikami gets posted it will be the Giants who sign him.
First, let me say that I really appreciate your English NPB content. Thank you very much for putting forth that effort for us in far flung America being able to keep up with the league! I became a big NPB fan because of Trevor Bauer's stint last year. Watching the Baystars and getting to know players like Shugo Maki, Keita Sano, Taiki Sekine, Toshiro Miyazaki, have made me a diehard Yokahama fan and I will be from now on! I am so excited now for the rookies Taiki Ishikami and Ryuki Watarai, just to see their talent and energy. I especially love Watarai because every game he seems to be just having the time of his life!! He always has a smile and you can just tell he loves to play! Maybe someday I will get a chance to visit Japan and see some games!
He was 100% right you are the gateway for American fans to the NPB. I think the only thing better would be English broadcast games somewhere but that sounds like its not happening any time soon.
It's actually not surprising that Kuriyama started Imanaga instead of Sasaki Roki or Yamamoto Yoshinobu for the final for the WBC. Japan has had a history of losing at the semi-finals in international competitions so they view the semi-finals as their biggest hurdle and put their best starters there which was why Sasaki Roki and Yamamoto Yoshinobu were used in the semi-finals rather than the final. Look at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics too. Semi-finals' starter was also Yamamoto (best pitcher in NPB at that time). For the 2023 WBC, I personally think that the semi-final game was Samurai Japan's best game and not the final because Mexico was the stronger team compared to USA.
True but I think most people were expecting Yu Darvish before the game. Imanaga was the right choice though, a guy that MLB hitters had never seen before.
According to the numbers I have per fangraphs, Rodriguez is averaging about 94-95 between his fastball, cutter and sinker mainly throwing a cutter surprisingly. Imanaga looks like he's actually getting more groundballs than he did last year.
You’re right, I accidentally looked at his average exit velo against on Baseball Savant. So Yariel’s velo is fine but I still think he’s better suited as a reliever.

Thank you for talking about Daniel Missaki! I watched him dominate in winter ball in Colombia and I was happy to see him on Diablos!!

I love the video of Watarai when he can't get the donut off the bat and his teammates are grinning ear to ear.

Pacific League does English broadcasts on their RUclips channel once a month but the commentary isn't the best
Really enjoyed this. Hope to see more of you 2 doing more content

Yamamoto has fantastic underlying metrics. His strikeout rate is amazing. He’s 24 and he will be fantastic
Love the discussion

Yamamoto is awesome. But he will never be worse the largest contract for a pitcher ever.
