As someone with a severe pollen allergy I use fasting as one of of my strategies for dealing with it without medication. My approach is: OMAD (eating one meal in the evening) and using an air purifier at home (very important: next to my bed). This way I just decrease the allergen while being in a fed state. Of course there are additional things that can help: face masks, showers.
And no, I do not leave out cheese, but I do go for very high quality like organic Pecorino.

Food has such a massive impact on allergy-like symptoms. I remember when I was growing up, my mom would be continuously sneezing almost every single morning. Turns out the foods she was snacking on late at night the day before were provoking her sneezes. Once she stopped snacking (or chose better foods), the sneezing stopped with it.

Oats, barley, wheat, rice, corn...those are all full of those nasty carbohydrate thingies. Yeah, I evicted them all from my kitchen about five years back. The dairy and peanut powder come back to visit occasionally, but most typically as goats milk cheese, butter, and peanut soup, with celery and onion in a base of chicken bone broth.
Now, if the landscaping business would just stop cutting the grass every day of the week, I maybe will be able to not have to wash my face after every walk and flush my sinuses each night all summer. Some things aren't avoidable, but we can all pretty much choose our food, and it makes all the difference!
Thank you! Very informative, and useful!

The last time someone said; "It's only my allergies!" at work, 40 people, in the Maintenance Dept. ended up with the flu shortly afterwards. 3 of them had extended hospital stays. Nice to know we're not alone! hehe I am highly allergic to cats/dogs and most furry animals, but I spent a week at my daughter's house (who has 2 cats) and I did not have much of an allergic response. I have been on a low-carb/keto/intermittent fasting regiment for several months now and I believe what you say about it helping allergies. :)

Thomas.... omg.. all of your videos have been so spot on in answering so many of the questions I've been having. I swore up and down that keto and fasting took away the allergies I was having every day for 3 years. Nobody believed me and they like no that's just the nature of allergies and it's just coincidental.. allergies come and go and that's the way it is.. then I cycled back onto carbs last week.. guess what happened?? Allergies were back with a vengeance.. now that I'm going back into keto (a week later), once again no allergies!! 🙏🙏 thank you for your life changing channel.

This is my own comment that I'd just written before seeing yours...I'm confused but I'd be interested in your opinion.
"I started with pretty bad hayfever when I was about 20 ( I'm 59 now) and for the last 3 or 4 years it's been really good and barely affected me. However, since I started losing weight 4 months ago, and once I'd lost a few pounds .... 38lbs so far) it came back with a vengeance. I was thinking surely it can't be due to fasting as I have been an intermittent faster most of my adult life ( without even knowing it had a name).....so that only leaves weight loss...but I really don't get it. In any case the idea of fasting improving it is not so for me. So annoying because it's not been this bad for years."
I'm trying to keep carbs low and sugary stuff even lower or none at all as much as I can. For the last 3 years or so when I barely noticed the hay fever, I was definitely having a lot of carbs / sugar. Looks like everyone here thinks that fasting helps, but seeing that I've been intermittent fasting most of my life, it obviously didn't improve mine when it was very bad, and now it's come back as bad as ever. I'm thinking it has to be something to do with the weight loss / disturbance of the fat, but I'm no doctor or scientist so I haven't a clue and just guessing.

Excellent video.. I accidentally got better with my allergies…I started intermittent fasting in order to compensate for all the HEB big cookies chocolate chip cookies that I’ve been eating .. I basically eat dinner around 10pm and then in the morning I drink my usual black coffee .. then drink water frequently until 1pm.. that’s when I have a big brunch .. duck egg, quail egg, chicken egg, meat, rice, vegetables, etc. and of course my favorite desserts.. This fasting got me so energized and decreased my allergies.. before I couldn’t even stay in my backyard .. from grass to almost everything I have allergies.. even fruits and some vegetables.. I stopped dairy few years back and that helped too, especially with my breathing …

    This describes me 100%.
I've struggled with allergies all my life but it wasn't until recently that I realized it had something to do with food.
Migraines, bloating; I had all the symptoms. I'm allergic to pretty much anything that produces a pollen too.
Oral allergy syndrome: there are lists out there of what you could react to - some people can eat these foods cooked but not raw - some have to eliminate them entirely. Grains are one of those need to eliminate entirely for me.
I'll be eliminating dairy now (didn't know it could cause an issue but makes sense), and try the other tips. Good thing I love asparagus and artichoke. Going to try then roasted.

I had no idea and thought I just had all this energy from being vegan. I'm having histamine intolerance and regular throat closing as well... and it's terrifying, because I just truly can't breathe. I keep reading that fasting increases histamine levels, and so I've been scared to fast - but I also notice that when I don't eat at all, or as much, my throat doesn't close as much. I'm now at the point where I seriously want to fast, despite what I've read... because food is becoming scary to me. I hope you don't mind me asking, how long do you fast for your histamine intolerance? What's the differences you've noticed? I'd be grateful for any information you'd be willing to offer - I've been living in so much fear lately, and I'm willing to fast for whatever it takes to get past this and be able to breathe again.

Perfect timing and something not discussed enough! This is so true and makes so much sense! I have noticed that on some days if I break my fast with certain foods, I end up by evening, it depends also on what I eat through the day after breaking my fast, I get really hot/itchy skin on my back and shoulders as well as behind my legs. It’s almost like a deep muscle type of itch that you get when you start running. I’ve learned to be very careful how I break my fast as well as what I eat at dinner. I’ve also noticed any time I eat after dinner this can happen some days my inflammation bucket is more full and that’s kind of the way I thought about it, your video confirms it! I asked why she was doing time restricted eating and another allergy friend popped up with some explanation about how it helps. That friend is all about the mast cell stuff. I come from a family where everyone has massive allergies. I still was having some signs of my usual august allergy-induced bronchitis this week, but I'm sure its partly due to lack of sleep - which I'm working on!

I take allergy shots every week because of a hypersensitive reaction to mold and dust mites. My allergies are much more sensitized after a 3 day fast and they have to adjust my shots to a lower volume. The point of my shots are to increase the volume which equals desensitization. So just be aware, it could be the opposite way. Perhaps it's because I normally don't break my fast cleanly, but just be aware.

I started with pretty bad hayfever when I was about 20 ( I'm 59 now) and for the last 3 or 4 years it's been really good and barely affected me. So annoying because it's not been this bad for years.

I wonder if it could be related to releasing stored toxins at a fast rate. I know that I've had issues with feeling physically worse but emotionally much better, and vice versa, during the process of weight loss and this was the conclusion I came to. I don't have any demonstrable science to support but just a thought.

hi dave, I have psoriasis arthritis and various food sensitivities related to allergies. From try and error I have found that with keto and avoidance of all the food triggers I have got plus Vitamin D supplementation and low anti-histamine medication I can controll the problem. I do IF 18:6 in summer and 12:12 in winter as I need to do stablework and am outside a lot. In winter there are less triggers in the air and I need more energy. In my experience the IF ratio is not that important if you stick to eating only the things you can without triggering a reaction. The swelling and deterioration of joints has almost stopped. When I eat carbs, especially any kind of grain or nightshades including potatoes the joints will get inflamed within 1 hour and I feel like I have the flu. The same goes with milk. If the cows ate soy I will feel it. Cheese is no problem. In my opinion to controll the histamine level is key.

Nooooo! I was really hoping that fasting would be a more permanent cure to allergies!
I have terrible allergies and can't leave the house without risking allergy induced asthma attack for 8 months of the year. Even locked up indoors with air filters and antihistamines I have a constant runny nose, itchy eye, nose, and throat. I am so desperate for sunlight and fresh air, especially to take my kids to the park when there's no snow on the ground. I've had seasonal allergies since I was a teen, but it's only prevented me from leaving the house in the past 3 years. Before that, I only needed antihistamines during the spring or if I went to someone's house who had pets. This spring my allergies started in the beginning of March and my throat and ears get so itchy, I feel like I'm always nauseous and my head is so plugged, I have ongoing brain fog.
I also have a few autoimmune disorders and digestive problems (malabsorption) so I can't just fast all the time or I'll be more anemic than I already am.
