Zach Johnson, the “Millennial Farmer” is a 5th-generation farmer who’s spent his life growing, working, and learning on his family’s farm. His wit and dry sense of humor appeal to children and adults alike. A product of the millennial generation, his appreciation of new technology blends with his old-fashioned work ethic, and he offers a unique ability to deliver his message in a way that resonates with lifelong farmers as well as those with no knowledge of agriculture. With growing consumer awareness about where their food comes from, Zach has identified the need for an independent voice from the front lines of agriculture. Zach actively promotes agriculture by sharing his day-to-day experiences in the agriculture world while providing farmer-to-farmer education to help facilitate a collaborative conversation between farmers and the public.

I had the exact same issue with the starter solenoid on my 1987 F150.
Would get 5-20 starts out of it and it would stick on.
After replacing 4 someone finally told me to check the starter itself.
Turns out it was worn out and pulling too many amps through the solenoid frying the contacts.
I suggest looking at whatever that solenoid is powering and having it rebuilt or replaced.

I'm 65 and have had that exact same back issue since I was 16, you can just be bending to pick up a feather and it'll go and make it almost impossible to breathe except in very small breaths and the muscles will be visibly spasming. It happens almost like clockwork, the same time every year. Muscle relaxers help but the only fix is rest and time. The upside is it gets less painful and less frequent with age.

Mine had gotten bad enough a few times. I couldn't physically get out of bed and had to have help to get up. After many visits focused mainly on those joints. I am now mostly pain-free. With periodic visits for readjustment on those joints.

Your solenoid issue is starting under load. The startup amps are too closely matched to the max amps of the solenoid contact tips which close when the switch is triggered. The closing and opening cause the tips to arc and weld themselves together. A higher amp rating on the tips or a continuous duty solenoid may be required.

You need to get a constant duty solenoid
And that will fix that problem

Find a good PT person who can help you stretch your hip flexors… a significant cause of SI joint issues

Been fighting back pain for years. Always thought it was bulging disc. Just recently had pain clinic injections into SI joint. Felt like I was 40 years younger overnight.
Definitely look into the injections for SI pain.

Zack I don't know if you read your comments but I had the same back pain for years it's crippling and debilitating it is not a muscle or joint problem it is a nerve problem I didn't figure this out till I had a heart attack and when that happens you find out a lot about yourself in a hurry when it happens you need to have a nerve medicine to calm the nerves I'm no doctor but it has definitely helped me but I'm no doctor good luck my friend keep doing what you're doing and I will keep on watching as long as I'm here

I had a stroke back in the mid 90's when I was 15 it paralyzed my left side but I got back to doing everything I was doing before my stroke on our cattle ranch. Over the years my back just deteriorated to the point where I seriously didn't think I was going to be able to Cattle ranch passed the age of 30. I was turned onto the local osteotherapist (sure I butchered that spelling) and in two visits she got me back to the point where I haven't had a back issue since.

You need a continuous solenoid that one you got is not heavy enough for that application even if the one you got looks like it will get the job done

I'm assuming you got your solenoid issue fixed, as you were at the race. but if you haven't, that hydraulic pump might be running on 24 volts, you would need to purchase a 24-volt solenoid. been there done that.

Take it from someone that’s spent over 20 years in the military carrying heavy loads on my shoulders and back. Strengthen the stabilizer muscles around your spine and strengthen your core. Flat back when lifting and shoveling. My back spasmed just pushing a heavy box under a table while sitting in a chair, I’ve felt your pain, I hope your back gets better.

I'd suggest looking at the linkage the solenoid is connected to and make sure it has full range free travel. It could be binding at full extension or retraction?

Chiropractor works wonders, but it should be used as a preventative measure. Schedule an appointment every four weeks, six weeks, or whatever you find out what works for you. Speaking from twenty years of back trouble ending with about to have my fifth surgery.

I have some bad SI issues occasionally. Tried chiropractic and it didn't help much. Went to the interweb for ideas and found about10 different stretches to do. Doesn't solve the problem immediately, but the time it takes to get back to normal (see what I did there?) Is greatly reduced and I get around a whole lot better while stretching to tecovery.
