I’m an old Welder from a manufacturing company. I’m 76, I don’t call to many people cool. You guys are “COOL DUDES”. My Grandmother Laura was a pioneer woman from Canada that came to the states to help in WW1 and WW2 . Yeah, she was cool too. She was one of my heroes! I miss her terribly. I’m also a VN veteran. ❤️You farmers rock.
Sounds like a Great Woman,And Thank You For Your Service Sir:-)
Great video!
It's great to see almost a whole video on "field engineering" that goes into repairing things and getting things unstuck. These days, very few people actually know anything about how to do these things.
CAD (cardboard aided design) is an important part of any farm fix! 😊
What you do in your spare time is so entertaining, harvest time is not far into the future, there will be no spare time then.
Love to you all from Mike. ❤
Good morning Sunshine! Great to see you all again today. It is so cool to have the space and ability for Grant to make the playground for you guys to ride. It looked like you were having so much fun!! Nice repair on the bucket Laura and Gage. Thanks for taking me along on todays adventure. Have a great week and I'll see you on the next one. Larry, Central Valley, Ca.
Gage seems like such a nice young man. He is going to be a nice catch for some young lady.

It's Great seeing you all ride together and having fun. I miss seeing the flat river action. I'm a huge fan of all that you guys do and I'm learning a lot about farming. Thanks for the videos.
Tractor is just marking it's territory. 😊
Nice farmer fix on the loader bucket. At least it'll hold for a while until you get the material to replace the sides and bottom property this winter. Glad you guys are having fun together after work.
Great video Lau! It's nice to see them always working to improve everything and at the same time having the time to have a good time and have fun! But use protection!
PLEASE get a WELDING CAP to protect scalp and hair from burns and temporary welding sleve to protect arms from arc burns and burns to skin. Ear plugs if you are going to weld overhead to protect ear drum also good to help protect hearing loss from grinding and impact gun. I've been a fan since you started.
Adding a leather backwoods to your welding helmet with auto darkening faceplate will improve your welding. Why you ask? Because you won't have light reflecting off the inside of the lense and you can see better hence you weld better. Really big improvement when welding outside.
You all have a wonderful life. Work hard, play hard.
Lookin like Laura is trusted by Gage as he calmly walks away from her cutting pieces & welding 👍🏻😎
Grinder and paint, make me the welder I ain't
When I worked on a dairy farm back in high school, my favorite tractor was a John Deere 4020 diesel with Power Shift, even though we had access to much more modern equipment. I was too young to have a driver's license, but in Wisconsin teenagers could drive tractors on the open roads without one. I used to drive my 4020 to school everyday in the fall and spring. Winter was too cold however. ;)
It's so good seeing you guys getting things done 👍,an finding time to enjoy the simple things in life 😜. Thanks for sharing.
Two points: It is nice to see a young person having trouble finding things... and the highly technical Carboard Aided Design (CAD) system...
Great video, bring good memories. My friends and I thought it would be a good idea to make a go-cart out of a 6 cylinder engine. WELL NOT SO MUCH but boy did we have a good time trying. My friends father and uncle asked what in the world are you guys up to now, when we told them they just shook their heads and walked away laughing, Good old days!!
Put a vent cupola chimney on the shop roof for release of the hot air. The updraft will move more air than opening the doors. with cupola open the inflow is from the cool side of the building.
Thanks for the explanation why you turn the wheel. I been a operator for 44 years and I never heard of that 😮
Pepper is quite the hansom cat ! Nice that she is included in your family vids.
Being raised on a dairy farm, we always had lots of cats.
That old "green machine" sounds awesome with the oversized chrome stack. Looking forward to hearing it work.
Nice fix on the tractor . Looks don't matter , does it work matters . Nice watching you young people on the dirt bikes . Thanks . Seeya
It was GREAT seeing you all just out and having fun.
Laura, you just need more time behind the torch.....
Saw Grant & the angle the tractor was on & laughed like hell!! I did the exact same thing with a JD 5520 pulling a 15' brush hog on an unknown to me field. Ropes were not out then, tried a 6" strap off a Chevy 1500 & then a F250, neither one budged the tractor. Ending up using a 24' cab over roll back with a 25 ton winch. Had to lower the bed support to use the winch, still moved the truck back about 6" before the tractor moved. Check the hole, an old stone lined drainage the state had never filled after they moved the road... thanks guys. Great videos!!
Boone, Iowa!! My literal birthplace. Love your channel. Keep rockin'.
love it when farmers take a break you guys are cool
Great all round video...repairing the loader bucket then recovering the tractor and mower....then to top it all seeing you all on the off road bikes lol....stay safe and see you soon
Thank you for explaining why you turn the wheel when starting. I’ve wondered about that for a while and was too lazy to google it. lol
Hey Laura, I like people like you so much, who try everything and are not too bad for anything. You really do everything. You are a valuable person. Thank you for you! God bless you 🙌🥰
Watching you all ride is way cool. I don't ride dirt bikes anymore but I do ride my Harley Haritage Softail. Alot ❤😊
I like how the three of you work together. Also, I like Pepper. I misplace my wallet at times like Grant. My wife always tells me to always put it in a designated spot when it is not in my pocket. Thanks for the video.
I like how the three of you have fun. Glad you are a Tom Boy meant in a good way.
No tank tops while welding! Keep long sleeve shirt handy near welding machine to protect skin from ultraviolet rays. I was a welder when younger and now (much older) battle skin cancer on arms due to welding in short sleeve shirts. Laura, you always look good in a tank top though. Just saying
Nice tractor. I sold a Case 580C for one of my church members (I’m a pastor) several years ago. It had a 3 in 1 bucket that the previous owner welded shut. All the hydraulics were there but not functional.
My personal tractors are miniatures compared to what you use - Farmall Super A & Ford 8N.
Yes Thourly Enjoyed The Video!! Thank You!! For Taking The Time To Record!
Keep Smiling On!!
😅👍👊❤️
Laura, you are jack of all trades and master of all😊
I absolutely love that bat wing mower, what a beast!! As far as the bucket repair goes, yea I cringed, but I bet dirt or hay bales don't care.
Using a piece of angle iron clamped for a straight edge will help your plasma cut lines and resting your arm on something will help your welding! the porosity in the welds is not grinding metal clean you need two shiny fresh mating pieces! love the effort!
Great fix. one thing to watch while wire welding is to try to eliminate any wind blowing om you. it'll make welding easier and stronger.
Hi Laura grant gage 👋👍great job fixing up old machines
Those Utah recovery maniacs know what the good stuff is! Yankums work SO well!
I've been watching Cutting Edge Engineering videos on Facebook and RUclips. That guy does a lot of metal repair work on construction equipment and I've picked up some pointers and tricks to employ when things aren't perfectly straight and flat but you want to patch them up. That stuff would help when you are repairing the bucket on an old 4020.
Holy cow, that is a rope an a half! I'm fairly certain you could tow a battleship with a rope that thick! Impressive.
nice job on the tractor guys. i know the feeling grant-your bushogging and then you find a hole or get stuck. me and my brother would always raze ( hassle) about who gets stuck the most. Now that is the way to relax -dirt-biking on your own homemade track! Laura, Grant , and Gage-the wilson farm team. Laura hang a note above the washer: Check the pockets Bubba! L.O.L.-charlie from Arkansas.
Good morning Laura farms, yourself and Gage wielding skills.
Yes AC in the shop is very very nice. Get Gage some sleeves.
That's farming, u make do with what ya have and repair what u can. Great video
Good mix of work and play! Laura - over the bump, Gage - wheelie over bump, Grant - full air over bump!
Lovely cat . It is not iron it is steel plate. No one could refuse that smile ! I am very impressed with the work. Pull it out ? Piece of cake!! Oooh don't kneel or sit on a concrete floor you will regret it in 50 years time always protect your knees with a pad. Hope Grant knows how lucky he is .
living the dream having your own bike playground!
Backseat welder here.. need to clean the rust off and cut away all that bad metal.. then go buy a new bucket
Agreed!!!
I was going to post that but thought I should check to see if anyone else had. you beat me to it. Dirty metal makes for bad looking welds
Just gotta get it ready for a short display 👍🏻
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
There’s a RUclipsr I watch who warns everyone “I’m not a welder! I’m just a guy who owns one”
There’s another YT guy who’s always saying: A grinder and paint make me the welder I ain’t!
Very appropriate sayings 😂
Awesomely crafted reply.👏👏👏
Gage did a great job driving to pull the tractor. It was great technique
4020. Best tractor John Deere ever built. Simple, strong, reliable.
Spelled 4440 wrong 😊
I would love to see you get a drone for spraying. Get rid of the sprinkler system you currently have.
If you want to make really straight cuts with your plasma cutter, make a guide out of 1" x 3/16 x 12" flat stock with an 8 inch handle welded in the middle out of the same material. Hold the guide in place with the 8 inch handle and pull the torch along the straight edge. You should be able to drag the torch nozzle along the edge of the guide on the metal, as long as it is clean, and you won't have to float free handed. Also, it helps a lot if you grind off all your slag before welding. I welded army tanks for 45 years and it's the little things that help a lot.
Fun video! I must admit to laughing out loud when y’all hooked that winch on the UTV up to that stuck tractor/bat wing! Glad you didn’t snap your cable or burn up your winch, which is entirely possible! Ask me how I know! 😂
Gage is so cool..! Every farm needs a Gage…
Larsons just repaired their AC for their shop a couple of weeks ago. Love the Agro engineering, grew up with a father and uncles that specialized in those kind of repairs. Good to see the Yankum out and working. I advised the old man up the road that you used to work for that he needed to get one after watching him use chains, 😁
Hi Laura , when you are making a cut with a torch or a plasma cutter. If you clamp a piece of angel iron to the work piece as a straight edge , your cuts will be straight. Just clamp the angle off the cut line. The distance of edge of the head to the center line of the plasma or torch tip to your cut line. A drag cup sometimes on plasma cutters helps keep the right height from the metal . so you don't mess up your tip. Great videos I enjoy watching every video . Tell Grant , Gauge and your Dad I said HI.
Put a Tile tracker in the Wallet.😊 6:25
Time to watch a few welding sessions from Matt’s off-road Recovery.
I so enjoyed this video watching you, Grant and Gage doing things I am so familiar with. I've said this before, and as another, corn & soybean (with some cattle) farmer to the southeast of you in Missouri, I think you are ahead of where I was with mechanical skills in this stage of your farming career. Grant is, just, way ahead. If only I could have found an employee like Gage when I was running/managing the corporate farm when I farmed in the Illinois River bottoms. My cousin sold M&W parts; and he put M&W turbo chargers on several of the neighbors 4010's and 4020's (like yours). Your You Tube posts make my day.
I like how you always think safety while you work.
You guys did a great job on that bucket. It looks good. Looks like y’all had a ball out there riding too. Cool video. 👍❤️
Laura, sometimes Gage and you are the real workers at the farm, and Grant is just the comic relief. I had to laugh out loud at Grant wandering around looking for his wallet that was cozily nestled in some warm, safe place, going "heh, heh", peeking out at Grant wandering around (oh, did I already mention that?).🤣❤👍
You need a check valve on the main valve going to the pig water. If you lose pressure at your house and a water port is opened at the house it will siphon the pig barrel into the water and will come out at the house when pressure is restored. That's called a cross connection
👍Pepper rocks 🐈🐱😸
Laura, you're so dramatically positive.
Always enjoy seeing your content and your ideas!! Thanks for letting us go with!😊
Good job of fixing. I personally would have cut out the whole bottom , and then welded in a whole new plate as the whole thing is getting worn out: I’m still watching so lm hoping you realize and do the right thing. It will be straight; as those edges have a tendency to get bent. When done it will be stronger& look better. Take it from a farm boy who bent one and the welds would never hold. You have one of the best tractors that was ever made. Thumbs up
It's always great to see your daily activities. The one thing I miss were your post office runs. It has been too long since you've done that. Do you think you could work one in now and then?
looking forward to the next few weeks when we'll see you get some air over the jumps!
I am not a welder. I think it looks great. Looks solid, minimal cost. Re-using a junk bucket. How is that not a win. Way to go.
If you want to make a straighter cut next time use a strait edge to keep you from wobbling around as you cut. Love your channel.
Grant. Get a old radiator , some electric fans, a water pump, and a freezer that opens up. Drill 2 holes in each end of the deep freeze. Mount the radiator on top of the freezer. Pump antifreeze through the freezer and then through the radiator. Antifreeze needs to be 0°. Cools the radiator and the fan blows the hot air into the radiator but comes out cool. Never have to refill the system. Coil the line in the deep freeze.
Might should have done some measuring from top of bucket to frog to make sure bucket cutting edge is square with tractor. As not to dig one side when using. Old construction guy tip. Measure twice cut once. 😂
Beat to fit, paint to match.
Awesome video guys
You're meant to wear long sleeves and cover skin, otherwise you get UV burns ;)
But I totally get it with the local temps!
The dirt bike stuff at the end was cool, keep putting more of that into your videos!! 😎🏍️🏍️🏍️
yankum ropes are so great!
Wow that was awesome I love those yankem ropes.
Get a Mr Cool ac for the shop. 4 to 5 grand, it comes precharged with the right amount of Freon. Designed for anyone to install, even Grant!!! Both our shops have ac and wouldn’t be without it. Make a great video too.
There’s a hole in my bucket dear Laura dear Laura. 😂😂
This is great!!! chillin on the farm. Im not a welding expert, but I would have wire wheeled that weld, and weld it again and then hit it with spraypaint to keep the water off the metal.
nice work i am frome india (punjab) and i am a farmer. and i like farming. youre look so good and beutifull.
Remember: "Oil leaks are Nature's way of making sure the oil gets changed."
Carrying two $100 bills in my wallet cured my 'lost wallet syndrome' 55 yrs ago. Ha. God bless. TFS
Hi Laura, Grant & crew Grant your a lucky man Laura is a beautiful & awesome girl. I enjoy watching your videos. Keep up the great content .
Nice episode everyone
I love that old tractor
Grant was GETTIN IT on that dirt bike!
Dress that weld off with a light grind and it would look pretty good.
Gage is a cool dude. Hope you and Grant can hold onto him for a while.
Awesome video
I got a free unwanted partial truck wash earlier this week. Sprinkler on the end of a pivot was spraying across both lanes of traffic.
Love you guys. I look forward to seeing you every week. Check out the a/c units that Matt at Diesiel Creek installed in his shop.
The first tractor I learned to drive in was an old 4960 and we used to have to turn the steering wheel just to get it to start but once you knew that it wasn’t too big a deal, least to me.
I remember one of our old farm hands didn’t know the trick and I could tell he was having issues so I popped in the tractor and got it going, letting him know of the quirk.
I have a large industrial refrigerated air conditioner in my shop. It’s great on a really hot day, although in all honesty, on those sorts of days, I usually find something else to do that doesn’t require me to be in the shop.
There's a hole in the bucket, dear Laura, dear Laura,
There's a hole in the bucket, dear Laura, a hole.
Oh, we’re dating ourselves now.🙂
Vertical welds on rusty material can be tough.
