It is important to be crafty, I have friends that were banned from talking about health (conferences, courses etc..) so they stoped doing that and started talking about how to become ill, i.e the exact same presentation but in reverse...! Other friends didn't meet the stringent regulations for baking bread so they stopped selling their production as "bread" but started calling it "art"! The consumers knew that there was absolutely no problem with the product (transparency) and the producers could always justify themselves by saying that if the consumer ate their "art" it wasn't on them! When it comes to medicinal plants, I've seen many people sell them with no health benefit labeling but many consummer comments that say "I used this piece of art/ decorative bottle/ scented bath bomb... as a tea to help with me with anxiety and I found it very usefull"... All this to say if you're sure that you are ethical, safe etc... there are ways to think, outside of the box. You might have to scale back so that consummers are able to have that confidence in you and your products but it can be done...

But, many of us can only get out to forage on weekends because we have to work for a living, and simply don't have the time to venture to certain areas of the province where certain botanicals/herbs/mushrooms etc are in abundance and therefore its not feasible for most of us to forage for everything we need, and that's why its so wonderful to have amazing vendors like Yarrow to source what we need and sell these products to us at a reasonable price

I have a friend who is metis and her family are starting to get an action plan together such as maybe running a health food store and declaring it native land and therefore even if its in downtown calgary alberta it becomes reserve land, and so the store would be not under the laws of canada but under the laws of the native council. I honestly dont think letter-writing or petitions will be all that effective this time around. We dont really have a government that represents us or listens to our concerns, so the way is to create a new system which I think could be the First Nations leading the way through this with their heritage of herbal medicine and turning health food stores into reserve land status through having First Nations run them or own them, whatever it takes.

Here's the answer. Change your business structure from a retailer or manufacturer to a private club that individuals or businesses would pay to join. Charge everyone a $5 initial membership fee and allow the "members" to use that on a purchase and make the herbs only available to members. There are practitioners in the United States that have successfully done this and are marketing their herbal formulations this way ONLY.
I am less worried about my business, and more worried about the long term effect of people not having access to quality health supportive products. I buyers club is great for small communities of individuals and savvy online participants. But many people look for products for their health at large stores like Wholefoods and small indepentant health food store. If 70% of the options are discontinued and the remaining are taxed to a point where the prices are outrageous then in the end everyday people suffer and more turn to pharmaceuticals as they are more readily accessible. This could have a much bigger compounding effect on the overall health of our society and the environment.

That and schooling... in the klondike gold rush, the largest winners were the people selling equipment.. take a look at the local brewing stores and adapt.. be a mixture of workshops, schools, gardening supplies, brewing supplies, drying supplies, storing supplies, etc.. all the bottles that u normally sell stuff in can be sold by the box to customers, etc.. people also have less money these days... i'm personally foraging almost everyday now, and i rarely buy anything that i don't pick myself. i also am getting more and more equipped every year... i have a wine cellar and i even make my own medicines.. and there is a lot more i can learn

Natural health products and Practitioners should be under the umbrella of our healthcare system and made available to everyone as a baseline for wellness. With minimum risk, I have personally never experienced or witnessed adverse effects from consuming natural products, and conversely, have many accounts of detrimental side effects from pharmaceuticals. Passing bill c47 will be a tremendous backslide for “Health” Canada, making the vitamins, minerals and nutrients required for optimization completely inaccessible for the majority of our population, in particular, those who need it most. This needs a complete overhaul and review, as natural health products should be subsidized for elderly and low income families, not unattainable.
And they call it the “Self Care Act.” Isn’t that nice? There’s no way this level of regulation benefits anyone and they know it. They want to make sure you have few resources to take care of your own health. Canada’s in trouble (and so are a lot of countries). This is coming for all of us unless we stand up and don’t let it happen.

maybe you should sell kits so people can make their own products instead. That and schooling... in the klondike gold rush, the largest winners were the people selling equipment.. take a look at the local brewing stores and adapt.. be a mixture of workshops, schools, gardening supplies, brewing supplies, drying supplies, storing supplies, etc.. all the bottles that u normally sell stuff in can be sold by the box to customers, etc.. people also have less money these days... i'm personally foraging almost everyday now, and i rarely buy anything that i don't pick myself. i also am getting more and more equipped every year... i have a wine cellar and i even make my own medicines.. and there is a lot more i can learn

I'm glad I live rurally and have many large jars of medicinal herbs stored.
Natural health products and Practitioners should be under the umbrella of our healthcare system and made available to everyone as a baseline for wellness. With minimum risk, I have personally never experienced or witnessed adverse effects from consuming natural products, and conversely, have many accounts of detrimental side effects from pharmaceuticals. Passing bill c47 will be a tremendous backslide for “Health” Canada, making the vitamins, minerals and nutrients required for optimization completely inaccessible for the majority of our population, in particular, those who need it most.
This needs a complete overhaul and review, as natural health products should be subsidized for elderly and low income families, not unattainable.
Can't make more customers if you're well.
And they call it the “Self Care Act.” Isn’t that nice? There’s no way this level of regulation benefits anyone and they know it. They want to make sure you have few resources to take care of your own health. Canada’s in trouble (and so are a lot of countries). This is coming for all of us unless we stand up and don’t let it happen.

2: how involved is private industry in the political system in Canada
3: if there isn't enough honest money in the system, are policy makers looking to reduce healthcare for the most urgent and sever life threatening cases? i.e: gapping bloody wounds and such

Sending letters to MPs doesn't help. MPs themselves supported Bill C47 so they are corrupted already. Ensuring that natural health products (NHPs) are being regulated properly is a vital part of keeping Canadians safe and healthy.
In order to protect small businesses, the proposed fees include small business fee reduction measures to minimize the impact on them. Qualifying small businesses are eligible for the following fee remissions:
100% for pre-market evaluation fees for the business’s first-ever NHP product submission.
50% for pre-market evaluation fees for all subsequent product submissions.
25% for site license fees and the annual right to sell fee.
These remissions will help small businesses and allow them to minimize the impact of the proposed fees. Health Canada relies on public funding to conduct their regulatory activities, which are crucial in protecting Canadians’ health and preventing harmful products from making their way into the marketplace.
