hmmm...i thought you'd address that rozatte's english dub is distinctly female whereas the japanese dub is clearly male, even in the bit you showed at 9:17 you can see that the text employs the "his" pronoun, meaning...they most likely made the wrong assumption based on rozatte's name and visual design when casting and only after they already had the lines recorded they realized rozatte is a man, translating that particular text accordingly. Still...i don't begrudge the mistake, japanese bishounens can be really ambiguous sometimes and i too assumed that rozatte was female the first time i saw the character being played only realizing the gender voice swap afterwards, it actually does fit rozatte either way
God yes, anything for my favorite skeleton is amazing news to me. I freaking miss this dude. I dont mind Skeleton T going missing, but it is CRIME to take Oshare Bones from us, especially since he never got to reunite with his boyfriend. Edit: Also! I still don't get why we can't have nice things like Puyo Puyo Quest over here. I freaking wish I could have Puyo Puyo Quest. I wanna play it so bad!!!! 😭
The English Puyo Puyo Community is very active and helpful when it comes to playing the game (everyone is on the same page since most of us can't read Japanese) if you want to try anyways. discord.io/puyo
A bit late to this but I would like to clear something up about Valkyrie Arle being the supposed first Puyo Fest introduced in Quest: While she *is* the earliest introduced character in the game that is a Puyo Fest, she didn't get buffed to be one until much later (she was in a card tier known as all-star before Sega made her a Puyo Fest in early 2018). Black Sig released in Quest less than a month after Valkyrie Arle and he was a Puyo Fest as soon as he was introduced, technically making him the first Puyo Fest added to the game.
i would actually like to see madou trivia too, but if you play the games you will know almost everything, there's *not so much* to say about classic madou monogatari. BUT, the thing is that, almost no person that doesn't speak japanese has played madou monogatari, not even the ones that like puyo puyo
Similar to what you said at 16:34 there is a bug in the DS version in which you skip the character select and go straight into the harahara course, and as you clear each level the character will always be random.
@@mchaosg yes in order for you to do this intentionally you have to go to free battle select "!" And start the match, then go back to the main menu and select the harahara course, and if done right every character will be random in the harahara course
Thank you for these Puyo Puyo videos!! I recently became interested in Puyos because of a Puyo Puyo Collab in Kemono Friends 3, so it is great to learn about the series!! I hope to see more facts someday!!
I feel the English ports are rather half-assed... like the voice actors aren't even trying... or they hired just anyone who was around to do it... great video! Love all the trivia...
It’s almost all merch consisting from the compile era, which makes them pretty darn valuable. That schezo plush that shows up for a second in the video? 90 dollars including shipping on ebay and that’s them being nice
(you can still find puyo merch and plushes for 20 dollars but remember these are from compile when they had less human characters so the cheaper merch is of things like nasu grave plush. Do what you will with that)
There are some weird inconsistant spelling mistakes in Puyo Puyo Fever. What I mean by this is that I remember seeing some like "weired" in the GBA version, but this typo was not present in the gamecube version.
14:11: Unused files for the DC version of PPF (Puyo Pop Fever) also shows files for an "Australian Version" (I think)-- so that might've been the reason why there was a planned English version for the DC port.
The fever music from 20th anniversary also plays the leitmotif from Puyo Puyo Fever 1's Fever music constantly in the background! (listen closely to hear it!) Also not sure if this is intentional, but the second half of the 20th anniversary fever music uses the same chord progressions as the Daihenshin music from Puyo Puyo 7!
When you spoke about Puyo Puyo Quest, it should be noted that _Quest_ has had many crossovers with other series, too. Notably, all of these series, listed below, have had collaboration events in Puyo Puyo Quest, in Alphabetical Order Bleach Cardcaptor Sakura Detective Conan Neon Genesis Evangelion Gegege no Kitaro Gintama Haikyuu!! Hatsune Miku Lupin III Ojamajo Doremi Persona (specifically, Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth) Power Pros Sailor Moon Saint Seiya Sakura Wars (Both the old and new versions) Sonic the Hedgehog Space Channel 5 Notably, this is actually where the artwork in the Sonic series portraits from Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 comes from, and likely, at least in some form, inspired Sonic becoming the main series' first guest star to begin with.
because you started two sentences with notably, i read this in my own voice because i do the same thing in my scripts lol also I cover the sonic stuff in the first video, but yes i may decide to talk about more quest crossovers as the opportunity presents itself
Personally I feel like it's a miracle they animated anything for Legamunt, while his design is really cool it's also super complex so moving it around and making it feel natural is probably pretty difficult. Using Schezo as a base makes sense, at least to me.
Based Here's a fun one Waku waku puyo puyo dungeon (waku puyo dungeon kettiban) had a planned sequel for Xbox, gamecube, and ps2, being developed by treasure. The game obviously never released, however it was adapted into wario world for nintendo gamecube.
@@mchaosg yep yep! They're both great games, I reccomend them wholeheartedly! Waku puyo doesn't seem to get a lot of love these days, but it's really worth trying if you haven't
@@doomfatlikesbluesphere9984 I'm a huge Wario fan, so I already own Wario World but i'll have to check out Waku Waku Puyo Dungeon. I'm looking into a source for the Wario stuff, but that's huge if true.
@@mchaosg you might have to go digging around on old japanese forum sites to find a decent source. But I'm almost certain that at least one of the various american wikis at least mentions it. I'll poke around in my archives and see what I can sleuth up
@@doomfatlikesbluesphere9984 I found a mention of it on ficreation, which is a wiki that makes fictional wiki posts, so I'm inclined to think it's false. But if you can find a source, let me know.
Someone else pointed this out in the premiere, my bad! I created a template to present these and I accidentally swapped the filenames for the 4th and 5th spells.
I hear him mention Compile Heart and I'm reminded of how one of the DLC characters for Neptunia Victory was a big reference to Puyo Puyo, even down to looking like Carbuncle as a girl. Her name was even 1st-gen Compa.
I'm looking at this now and I think you're definitely right, her belt is clearly a green Puyo and I think her shoes with the bows resemble Puyo as well. Carbuncle ears for sure and she even has the gem on her forehead. There's also artwork of them holding a curry plate, which is definitely a nod as well. Interesting!
Here's a fact that I just remembered and worth mentioning: Puyo puyo also made a crossover with sonic runners (sadly I missed it, so you'll probably have to look into that.)
I'm aware of this! I should of mentioned it in the first video with all the Sonic stuff, but there's a pretty famous meme that has Dr. Eggman thanking Satan for his help.
I just remembered about another fact: Puyo puyo OPP has different versions. (and because I have listened to it on YT, and one of them is my favorite, I figured it would count.)
Good news, this season we will finally end up getting a Madou 4, a proper sequel instead of that roguelite reboot made by Compile Heart It was announced last year and will be a collab title between CH and Sega
His name made a lot more sense in Puyo Puyo 7 because his chibi-form actually had a squirrel tail, it seems he lost it at some point when he got older.
Please Tucker! Please can you do a video telling us everything we need to know about all the PuyoPuyo Characters? I know you already have briefly done so in this one but I’d like to hear more about them. They are fascinating and to me, most of them from PuyoPuyo Tetris 2 just came out of nowhere cuz I know nothing about them.
Raffina and Rafisol's English Voice Actress, Erica Lindbeck, is pretty iconic, being Persona 5's Futaba Sakura, Megadimention Neptunia V2's Uzume Tennouboshi, and BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle's Yuzuriha.
Oh! I found something! A background that would appear in Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 has a puyo stack, which is a reference to one of the results when searching up "yellow puyo". In fact, How higher the puyo is on the stack, the cuter it is.
I have a question! What’s your favorite puyo puyo game? Or maybe your favorites idk but I want to know what games I should try out since I’ve only played the ones released in English but I do want to try things like The ones released in Japan that have the English translations
If it wasn't apparent already, I have a huge Puyo Pop Fever bias. That's my favorite! In terms of fan translated games, I definitely suggest checking out 15th and 20th Anniversary on DS. I have a soft spot for Puyo Puyo 7 but most people think it's the worst one... Sun and Tsu have fan translations as well (PC and SNES, respectively) but you're not missing out on too much dialogue wise. Sun, as an overall experience, is worth checking out alone.
9:51 Oh look, it's Rias Gremory from High School DXD. Except, the only difference is, she's got wings, a halo, and a whole different outfit than what I'm used to seeing.
Hi! I literally made a channel just to comment haha, mainly because I know way too much about Puyo Puyo currently. You should probably fact check me, but here's a couple facts I've learned: -Most of the character in Puyo Puyo Fever are copies of Compile characters, and I believe that the reason as to why Klug has a sentient book is because in Madou Monogatari ARS Schezo's sword was actually sentient (you had to battle it in order to obtain it) -Most of the Compile and 7 characters have mentioned families, but the Fever era characters don't seem to have any mentioned family, the only one I could find anything for was Lemres who comes from a family of powerful dark mages and apparently he doesn't like going home much -In Puyo Puyo Fever 2, when Sig meets Strange Klug, the sprite of him looking at his red hand actually has 2 red eyes instead of one red and one blue. A similar thing happens in the light novel Sig's Secret where the red half begins to take over Sig, which means it wouldn't be good for Sig if the book demon ever got reconnected with him -While watching cutscenes of Puyo Puyo 7, I noticed that Maguro and Risukuma only show up about 3 or 4 times, and Maguro is only playable once! You never even get to play as poor Ris, man the R and S of the 7 trio kinda got the back end of that game -And finally, there are actually multiple Doppelgänger Arle's! There's one in the Mega Drive version of Madou Monogatari 1, one in Madou Monogatari Final Exam, and one in Puyo Puyo~n. The most well known one is the one from Puyo~n, who still has the darker hair color that Arle used to have. I have more facts than that, but I thought these might be some good ones you could use! I'm not sure if anyone can see this comment? I've been trying to check on other devices and I can't find it and I'm rather confused.
Oh yeah, I'm adding 2 more facts just because I find one of them interesting and the other one confusing -Lagnus actually appeared in Puyo Puyo before he appeared in Madou Monogatari. He first appeared in Puyo Puyo Sun, then he appeared in Madou Monogatari Saturn -This is the one that confuses me, and it's possible that it's only because I was watching a fan translation, but in Puyo Puyo Chronicle Lagnus and the Compile cast don't seem to know each other for some reason despite having interactions in previous games (Either Sega doesn't know their lore, or it's because Lagnus comes from a different world than the rest of the Compile cast) I don't know why they changed his name in English
I've noticed a mistake when you mentioned oshare bones' unused spell animations. In the console releases, his first/second animation is reused for the third, and the third is used in the fourth. And the fifth spell used the fourth animation. so in the end, it's the final spell animation (for "Psychedelic") that goes unused. But it's not the case of DS and GBA versions because they we're probably made from scratch, unlike every other release
Oh wait I think I get what you're saying now, I'll have to check this again. I could of sworn the unused one was the glowing eye animation, but yeah I found multiple sources saying it's psychedelic's spell animation that is in fact unused. So in the console releases, it's 1-1-2-3-4 but in the GBA/DS ports it's 1-2-3-4-5. I thought it was 1-1-3-4-5 when making this video...
@@mchaosg try getting every spell in any version that isn't ds or gba. there's your evidence I recommend going in endless fever to get all spells easily, you can find a character select menu button combination for endless (and also story modes) for every other version simply by googling them.
by the way another correction: it is unknown who the boy who lost the bad part of strange klugs soul. I remember the record of sealing dates of centuries before any of the events of puyo fever 2, and that this person lived alone in a castle and liked reading books. I don't think it was sig at all, but rather sig is the descendant of this person and also it was just the evil part of the soul, not half of it.
I found out what the minigame is on puyo pop fever for ds in the credits, basically, there is two of the same pictures in the top and bottom screen and on the bottom is something that is different from the top picture, you use the stylus to tap and find the difference. Another thing is that it also features 8 player mode
I’m going to cry I only now see that the demons are named after body parts - Hed - Head Costa - (idk this one, Shoulder?) Peruvis - Pelvis Vartebra - Vertebrae Stornum - Sternum
It does help, but there's still a weird delay before you can move a piece regardless of what controller you use. It's just weird and hurts my muscle memory.
@@mchaosg I eventually got used to it while I was playing the games, and I had to do that when I was unlocking Popoi and Carbuncle for the PS2 and Xbox versions. Thankfully I played on a homemade arcade stick with mostly Sanwa-denshi parts.
this one is sorta puyo related but, here ya go. (This one is a long one...) fun fact: the character portraits in Puyo Puyo~n were done by the same person who did Summon Night Twin Age's character Portraits, That being "Sunaho Tobe/戸部淑". She was a former compile artist that went to work at Flight Plan (the developers of Summon Night) and later went on to do freelance work. How do i know this?: me being a huge puyo fan since 2017 (via Puyo Puyo Tetris on switch), and me discovering Summon Night via Twin Age in 2023, that somehow resulted in me discovering that, since the characters looked very similiar. (Phew, that was a doozy.) Also, kinda sad that Compile went bankrupt, Compile heart doesn't feel the same. Ps. The Sega Ages Puyo english/spanish dub is cursed af, seriously, the fact that nobody knows who made it adds to how cursed and odd it is. Besides the Voice Acting.

hmmm...i thought you'd address that rozatte's english dub is distinctly female whereas the japanese dub is clearly male, even in the bit you showed at 9:17 you can see that the text employs the "his" pronoun, meaning...they most likely made the wrong assumption based on rozatte's name and visual design when casting and only after they already had the lines recorded they realized rozatte is a man, translating that particular text accordingly.
Thanks for the Puyo Quest Trivia~!

*ROADA ROLLA DA!*
A bit late to this but I would like to clear something up about Valkyrie Arle being the supposed first Puyo Fest introduced in Quest:
While she *is* the earliest introduced character in the game that is a Puyo Fest, she didn't get buffed to be one until much later (she was in a card tier known as all-star before Sega made her a Puyo Fest in early 2018). Black Sig released in Quest less than a month after Valkyrie Arle and he was a Puyo Fest as soon as he was introduced, technically making him the first Puyo Fest added to the game.
Found another interesting little fact.
In Pocket Puyo Puyo Sun, the shape of the blue and purple puyos are swapped for some reason.
hey, i know you
uh oh
I just watched the first one yesterday and now theres a sequel.
I'd love to see some more Madou trivia, but more Puyo trivia is always great!!
i would actually like to see madou trivia too, but if you play the games you will know almost everything, there's *not so much* to say about classic madou monogatari. BUT, the thing is that, almost no person that doesn't speak japanese has played madou monogatari, not even the ones that like puyo puyo
HELL
YEAH!!!
Similar to what you said at 16:34 there is a bug in the DS version in which you skip the character select and go straight into the harahara course, and as you clear each level the character will always be random.
That sounds like fun actually, any way to trigger this intentionally?
@@mchaosg yes in order for you to do this intentionally you have to go to free battle select "!" And start the match, then go back to the main menu and select the harahara course, and if done right every character will be random in the harahara course

Thank you for these Puyo Puyo videos!!
I recently became interested in Puyos because of a Puyo Puyo Collab in Kemono Friends 3, so it is great to learn about the series!!
I hope to see more facts someday!!
That's awesome! Glad to hear it.
Ayy a part 2
I feel the English ports are rather half-assed... like the voice actors aren't even trying... or they hired just anyone who was around to do it... great video! Love all the trivia...
This video makes me want to see a high-quality rip where the joke is the All-Clear jingle.

It’s almost all merch consisting from the compile era, which makes them pretty darn valuable. That schezo plush that shows up for a second in the video? 90 dollars including shipping on ebay and that’s them being nice

There are some weird inconsistant spelling mistakes in Puyo Puyo Fever. What I mean by this is that I remember seeing some like "weired" in the GBA version, but this typo was not present in the gamecube version.
underrated channel
Great facts, great editing, great voiceover, great video!! Quality stuff
Thank you!
15:24 IS THIS WHY YOU CAN PLAY WITH A MOUSE ONLY IN PPT?
Maybe! I wonder if that will carry over to PPT2.
Fun fact: Puyo Puyo Fever was released on Japanese arcade systems when I was born!
I am late and probably someone said this but,
15:48 its a find the diferences game
14:11: Unused files for the DC version of PPF (Puyo Pop Fever) also shows files for an "Australian Version" (I think)-- so that might've been the reason why there was a planned English version for the DC port.
15:40 It was actually a find the difference styled mini game. I discovered it when I beated the game for the first time on my Drastic DS Emulator.
Kengo Morita didn’t state blurb I took out from "All About Puyo Puyo Tsu", Sonchou Sawa did. I got confused when I skipped some text, my bad!
This was actually really interesting! Thanks!
for 2:00 How Did You Get The Option Mode??
The fever music from 20th anniversary also plays the leitmotif from Puyo Puyo Fever 1's Fever music constantly in the background! (listen closely to hear it!)
Also not sure if this is intentional, but the second half of the 20th anniversary fever music uses the same chord progressions as the Daihenshin music from Puyo Puyo 7!
This is a blue ghost moment
When you spoke about Puyo Puyo Quest, it should be noted that _Quest_ has had many crossovers with other series, too.
Notably, all of these series, listed below, have had collaboration events in Puyo Puyo Quest, in Alphabetical Order
Bleach
Cardcaptor Sakura
Detective Conan
Neon Genesis Evangelion
Gegege no Kitaro
Gintama
Haikyuu!!
Hatsune Miku
Lupin III
Ojamajo Doremi
Persona (specifically, Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth)
Power Pros
Sailor Moon
Saint Seiya
Sakura Wars (Both the old and new versions)
Sonic the Hedgehog
Space Channel 5
Notably, this is actually where the artwork in the Sonic series portraits from Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 comes from, and likely, at least in some form, inspired Sonic becoming the main series' first guest star to begin with.
because you started two sentences with notably, i read this in my own voice because i do the same thing in my scripts lol
also I cover the sonic stuff in the first video, but yes i may decide to talk about more quest crossovers as the opportunity presents itself
There was a flash game called kikoriki train. It's basically a reskined version of endless puyo puyo
I still find it interesting on why Legamunt's spells are similar to Schezo's...
Personally I feel like it's a miracle they animated anything for Legamunt, while his design is really cool it's also super complex so moving it around and making it feel natural is probably pretty difficult. Using Schezo as a base makes sense, at least to me.
Oh yes blob blob blocks my favorite game. :)

Waku waku puyo puyo dungeon (waku puyo dungeon kettiban) had a planned sequel for Xbox, gamecube, and ps2, being developed by treasure.
The game obviously never released, however it was adapted into wario world for nintendo gamecube.

Quick correction for the Project Diva section.
The module for Rin Kagamine and the two accessories actually originated from Project Diva F.
Puyo puyo quest characters being playable in the main series is like mario kart tour tracks/characters getting added to the booster course pass ngl
I still like to point this out if no one else does. The English VA for Amitie is also the va for Nepgear from Neptunia and Madoka from Madoka Magica
bid sad this channel never uploaded after this video i really liked your content.
Thank you, I'm sure I'll start posting again someday.
Just a little nitpick. In 13:40, harpy's "For now... " and "La la la!" portraits are mixed.
@@mchaosg Yup! Even her name refers to Compile as well, since the other character we have named Compa, is a stand-in for the company Compile Heart!
@@mchaosg oh right, I forgot, at least it was mentioned, thanks for reminding me
I just remembered about another fact: Puyo puyo OPP has different versions. (and because I have listened to it on YT, and one of them is my favorite, I figured it would count.)
I just came back because I realised that it was a missed opportunity to call this video
Puyo Puyo trivia Tsu
I'm a sucker for trivia videos like these
Good news, this season we will finally end up getting a Madou 4, a proper sequel instead of that roguelite reboot made by Compile Heart
It was announced last year and will be a collab title between CH and Sega
Now I realize what Ris meant back in PPT when he said "What I do, I DO ALL THE *SQUIRREL BEARS* OF THE WORLD!!!"

I considered this, but I didn't want the first impression to be that this is exclusively Tsu trivia!

And what a Puyo Puyo Trivia Sun?
Raffina and Rafisol's English Voice Actress, Erica Lindbeck, is pretty iconic, being Persona 5's Futaba Sakura, Megadimention Neptunia V2's Uzume Tennouboshi, and BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle's Yuzuriha.
Rafisol is voiced by Kira Buckland. The other Puyo character voiced by Erika Lindbeck is Ciel in Champions.
This was nice!
It’s pretty well known in the community and not much to cover, but what about the lost puyo pop fever sister game, puyo fever habanero?
First I've heard of it! It's lost media, wow...
Oh! I found something!
A background that would appear in Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 has a puyo stack, which is a reference to one of the results when searching up "yellow puyo". In fact, How higher the puyo is on the stack, the cuter it is.
You can turn off the 3d animations in the options menu in fever, dremcast is my favorite version
@@mchaosg Thank you I’ll make sure to check them all out!
9:51 Oh look, it's Rias Gremory from High School DXD. Except, the only difference is, she's got wings, a halo, and a whole different outfit than what I'm used to seeing.
Another one!? Absolutely!
Hi! I literally made a channel just to comment haha, mainly because I know way too much about Puyo Puyo currently. You should probably fact check me, but here's a couple facts I've learned:
-Most of the character in Puyo Puyo Fever are copies of Compile characters, and I believe that the reason as to why Klug has a sentient book is because in Madou Monogatari ARS Schezo's sword was actually sentient (you had to battle it in order to obtain it)
-Most of the Compile and 7 characters have mentioned families, but the Fever era characters don't seem to have any mentioned family, the only one I could find anything for was Lemres who comes from a family of powerful dark mages and apparently he doesn't like going home much
-In Puyo Puyo Fever 2, when Sig meets Strange Klug, the sprite of him looking at his red hand actually has 2 red eyes instead of one red and one blue. A similar thing happens in the light novel Sig's Secret where the red half begins to take over Sig, which means it wouldn't be good for Sig if the book demon ever got reconnected with him
-While watching cutscenes of Puyo Puyo 7, I noticed that Maguro and Risukuma only show up about 3 or 4 times, and Maguro is only playable once! You never even get to play as poor Ris, man the R and S of the 7 trio kinda got the back end of that game
-And finally, there are actually multiple Doppelgänger Arle's!
Oh yeah, I'm adding 2 more facts just because I find one of them interesting and the other one confusing
-Lagnus actually appeared in Puyo Puyo before he appeared in Madou Monogatari. He first appeared in Puyo Puyo Sun, then he appeared in Madou Monogatari Saturn
-This is the one that confuses me, and it's possible that it's only because I was watching a fan translation, but in Puyo Puyo Chronicle Lagnus and the Compile cast don't seem to know each other for some reason despite having interactions in previous games (Either Sega doesn't know their lore, or it's because Lagnus comes from a different world than the rest of the Compile cast)
I don't know why they changed his name in English
@@mchaosg actually it's 1-1-1-3-4 in console releases and 1-1-3-4-5 on ds and gba, because spell 1 and 2 use the same animation
That's even more confusing lol and contradictory to what's out there, do you have evidence? Dapper Bones deserves better.
@@mchaosg try getting every spell in any version that isn't ds or gba. there's your evidence
I recommend going in endless fever to get all spells easily, you can find a character select menu button combination for endless (and also story modes) for every other version simply by googling them.
by the way another correction: it is unknown who the boy who lost the bad part of strange klugs soul. I remember the record of sealing dates of centuries before any of the events of puyo fever 2, and that this person lived alone in a castle and liked reading books. I don't think it was sig at all, but rather sig is the descendant of this person
and also it was just the evil part of the soul, not half of it.

fun fact: the character portraits in Puyo Puyo~n were done by the same person who did Summon Night Twin Age's character Portraits,
That being "Sunaho Tobe/戸部淑".
She was a former compile artist that went to work at Flight Plan

and later went on to do freelance work.
