    i didn't want to say it but, big hooks, big baits, big fish, i personally use quarter fillets of kahawai or grey mullet, left to maggot up, then salted, which firms up the fish and kills the maggots (pour the water off so it doesn't soak back into the bait), it stinks, but the fish don't seem to complain and the bait stays on the hook so the little fish can't nibble your bait off in one go. i ain't no fishing expert, but i've done it to survive for a year with no money and very little support, till i ran out of fish hooks and my net got too shredded , then i decided to rejoin societies rat race again(no money=no resources)

    In the future I think you might want to shove in a piece of paper as a wad before putting the lead it.
    This way less air pressure will escape from the sides of the lead. Essentially it will push the paper and create a seal around the lead which will use the air to its full potential like how blackpowder guns are loaded.

    Most of those problems are overcome by using the frozen plug. It provides a good seal if it is slightly melted when inserting. Plus the bait and trace are inside the ice so don't provide any resistance or get tangled when launched. You can use a smaller sinker (or even a grapel one) because of the weight of the ice. You can also put plenty of burley in the plug. so as it all melts tada

  • @eddiehope8291
    @eddiehope8291 7 месяцев назад

    It's basically a BIG air gun! But freezing a tube with that diameter, including sinker and baited hook(s) and defrosting for a few minutes, before firing, should give a free shot for max distance without friction in the tube and tangling whilst flying! Than slowly the bait/hook will be presented to catch.....! Could it be this simple?

    You can purchase a used DJI Phantom 3 dron fairly cheap and place your bait exactly where you want it. Only limited by line capacity of the real. You can even pan the camera down to look into the water if it's clear. Once bait is dropped just hit one button and it will fly back and land where it took off

    Treat that air launcher like a gun. Assume it is charged and loaded. Never put the tube against your chest. She has her finger inside of the tube. Use your brains my friend. Now go catch some fish.😊

    if you have spare tube, its easier to throw your weight, rig and bait into the spare tube... fill up with water and freeze. Perfectly sized ice missiles that keep everything together and stop the bait from flying off ;)

    Hi Mike, that bait cannon looks fun ! what were the two rods and reels you were using ? The reel that got spooled was an Okuma Distance Surf Arena is that roiht ? and was that paired with an Okuma Sensor Tip ? If so, what length is the rod and do you usually get pretty good casting distance with that reel/set up ?

    • @WekaDigitalMediaNZ
      @WekaDigitalMediaNZ  10 месяцев назад

      You have good eyes, that is correct. I don't like the Surf Arena very much, the bail arm keeps knocking the winder when you winding in, bloody annoying! The rod is okay for the price, not sure the length but I like the wooden butt. Not my best cheaper Okuma set up I have owned. I did like the feel of the balzer in this video but I can't see it handling our bigger saltwater fish for too long. The butt on Mark's had tape on it.

    • @brendonosborne2119
      @brendonosborne2119 10 месяцев назад

      Thanks for the quick reply. But other than the bail arm issue do you get good casting distance with that reel ? What is your best cheap Okuma set up then ? Cheers B @@WekaDigitalMediaNZ
