My boys did the Forensic Science class at our co-op this year. My 9th grader did fine with it. And I loved that they were able to do all the labs at co-op!
Your videos are so helpful and encouraging! You are always my go-to RUclipsr when I need ideas, info, or encouragement in regards to homeschooling. I just learned that since my 9th grader wants to play college soccer, we need to make sure the curriculum we use is NCAA approved. So we have had to make so quick pivots this year. It is great to see what you are using with your kids and get some ideas! Thank you
Thanks for sharing! I created my own forensics unit this spring for my 8th grade son. He really enjoyed it, so i can see us circling back to the topic in HS. I look forward to seeing how he enjoys this course!
After many hours of video reviews and visiting too many publisher websites, we have finally landed on Shormann Algebra for my rising 8th grader. My rising 6th grader has one more year of Horizons then I will move her to Shormann. Thank you for the recommendations. My son will be using the brand new Apologia physical science, at his request. I had planned on switching to BJU. I guess we will see how this year goes. I love your curriculum picks. They are so straightforward without adding dozens of unnecessary extras. It’s so refreshing.
Thanks for sharing!! We love Notgrass and will be doing their American History course for 9th grade too. I’ve been eyeballing MB Forensic Science as an elective too, but maybe in the following years.
I’ve watched your videos for years now and I am just mind blown that you will have three high schoolers! I feel like it was yesterday that I watched my first video of yours because I was curious about homeschooling. Now we are wrapping up our first year! I’m so thankful for your channel. It’s been an incredible blessing! Thank you for sharing your choices 😊❤️
I love all these electives! It gets me excited to one day let them truly dive into their interests. Next year I'll have a 3rd grader and a 1st grader so it's pretty basic stuff. They are mostly interested in art right now lol
I'm definitely getting the Intro to forensic science. My son is a Criminalist and I can utilize his knowledge while teaching this. Thank you for showing this curriculum!!
I love your videos, thank you for always providing great homeschooling content! I am curious if you use the textbooks and videos for BYU Physical Science or just the books? If it’s just the books have your kids been able to use them independently?
I'm brand new to homeschooling and will be starting next year with my son who will be in 9th grade. Can you tell me on average how long it takes per day for a 9th grader to complete their work? I was looking into heart if dakota but it says for his grade it would still take him 6.5 hrs a day to complete which is a lot longer than I thought. That's almost the same as a public school day including breaks and lunch.
Hi, I really appreciate your curriculum videos, thank you. We have our first starting grade 9 next year and I watched your video on how you planned for your eldest daughter. I am wondering how your plan for her unfolded, credit wise? Or if you can give some pointers as to how you are now in a position to do college courses. I am a bit concerned about getting to 22 credits by the end and hearing how some already start gathering credits in grade 8😮 We are a South African family able to do an AHSD which allows us the freedom of curriculum choices but this is also is quite daunting because it is very new to me.
Does anyone know how heavy the workload is for The Good and The Beautiful, 9th grade L.A.? ( High School 1) My student has a packed schedule and has struggled with getting through the full curriculum in a school year. It’s hard to know ahead of time if a new curriculum is going to be too much ( or not enough).
BJU physical science is good but beware the labdisc gensci !! It’s a device needed in the labs that doesn’t come in the kit and it’s used in many of the experiments. It costs like $700 !!!! We just skipped those labs .
I'm not at the stage of using the master books electives just yet, but I'm curious how your kids do them independently. Please excuse my ignorance if I've got it all wrong, but the electives seem to be designed to be taught by a teacher. Do they use the teacher's guide on their own?
I saw your flip through on Apologia Health and Nutrition several years ago. I see you are using PACE this year. Did you continue the Health and Nutrition? The Apologia looked very detailed and interesting, but I'm wondering if it is worth it for the 1/2 credit required in my state. Thank you!
How do you manage credits with Notgrass? Do you have them complete all the Bible and English assignments to then give them 3 credits? I'm a bit worried about the course load when doing Notgrass along with TGTB HS 1. Would love to hear more about how you do both!
@@GraceandGrit ok great to know! Do you have a video explaining how you did it? Just wondering what it would look like specifically to just do the history portion. Skip the bible assignments and literature assignments? But do the "In their words" reading and the student review questions? Did you do the tests? Sorry for my million questions - we've never used Notgrass so it's all a bit confusing. Thank you so much!!
my daughter will be using that health course this upcoming year as well. we are trying notgrass american history this year for my middle and high school students--we did notgrass one or two years for elementary so I'm somewhat familiar...but did you find the middle/high school history curriculums are doable in a years time---they just look so hefty!
Planning on using Notgrass for my son's 9th grade history, but I am bebating between starting with Exploring American History & World History. I was set on American first ( and I already bought it off Ebay🤑) but then I read on a blog that the world curriculum is easier for freshmen year and now I'm kinda second guessing... Any thoughts since you have used both with your kiddos? Thanks so much for any advice!
We are using and loving Shoremann math as well. Have you used the science course? I know you stated you were using bju just curious what your take is on the dive into science program...
I have a question! Do you have your son do the English component of notgrass since you have a separate curriculum for English for him? Or does he just do the history component? Thanks!
I'm planning to use Shormann Math for my kids when they reach Algebra. I see they also offer Science. What made you choose BJU science over Dive Science?
If the physical science doesnt pan out (i dont know why not because BJU is great) i had chosen exoloration education advanced phy science and my son absolutely loved it! He did all the experiments and learned so much Question. How hands on are you in highschool? Do you have them grade their own work? Do pretty much all their learning on their own? Thx
In other videos she talks about this- they usually do their lessons independently (BJU is video based) and then they do online tests or she grades them.
I would love a review at the end of the year on the forensic science course. It looks like a great elective course.
Will do!

Thanks for sharing 💗

We just received our Forensic Science books today! We are so excited to do this next year with our 10th and 11th grader.
You look gorgeous in this video the yellow looks good on you !
She clearly thinks so too considering she couldn’t stop looking at herself. It was cracking me up 😂😂😂
I do that too ! I always look at myself lol it's a habit for me lol 😊

I wish I was as sure and early with my curriculum for next year as you are. I am still weighing and researching my options.

Although rebounding is awesome for your nervous system.
Me son enjoyed MB Forensic Science! Its so interesting I even read some of it😊
You may have already talked about this, but is he not doing a foreign language…
Always love your videos! Thanks for sharing your picks.
Hi there! For the U.S. History through NotGrass, do you order the complete bundle?

I would say it’s more a FULL SCIENCE CREDIT

We only did the history portion of Notgrass.

Yes they are doable. Just decided ahead to do history 4x a week and leave 1 day for projects etc.
@@GraceandGrit thank you. that was my plan too

Just history!
Excellent video! What age/grade did you start introducing electives into their curriculum? I know you've mentioned this before but I can't remember!
6th or 7th!

Love your videos! ❤ What history curriculum would be your favorite between Notgrass and TGTB and why?
I think NOTGRASS is more on a high school level. But I look forward to seeing TGTB when the new version comes out
@GraceandGrit I agree. I can't wait for the release! 🥳
Do you recommend TG&TB OR IEW for English ?
We use TGTB and always have. I think that speaks for itself.
Do your kids just have one apologetics credit on their transcript? I know you do that yearly with them but is it just listed once in a transcript?
I list each course separately for an elective the year we do it.
Did you ever school 4 days a week? If so, when did you make the transition to schooling 5 days a week?
