I had a 'conflict' with a lady friend, she would constantly pick up a mirror and examine herself, there were mirrors everywhere. I would tell her to stop. But she couldn't. One day, when she sat down next to me, and picked up a mirror, I just gave up, completely. I walked away, and went to a place nearby where I was doing some carpentry. I shrugged off my frustration, and picked up my tools, and with a careful hand and a good heart I continued with my project. As I was working, some thoughts about my lady friend came to me, but I had already abandoned any concern for this matter, so I did not interfere with the thoughts. I just let them continue, as I worked away with a careful attitude. As the thoughts ran on, I realised that they were opening up, some previously hidden insights were being revealed. I 'suddenly' realised that I was observing my thoughts without any observer. It was an astounding revelation. There was a particular dynamic to the observing. The dynamic was connected to my careful use of my tools and the good hearted attitude to the carpentry. A kind of filter had been created, where my expectations could not pass through, only a certain lightness of touch could pass. I had discovered observing without the Observer. I watered and nurtured it, now it can go everywhere.
There is no where to go, when there is awareness, that there is only observation then life transforms. No Separation between you and the world, no beginning no ending.
@@lungarotta Firstly I will say that I have read many of the books written by Krishnamurti, so when I say I discovered ‘observation without the observer’, I mean that I was primed by reading those books to interpret my experience in those words. I have virtually no knowledge of any of the World religious teachings. The experience I described happened over a year ago, and I have had the time since then to really strengthen and validate the experience, completely on my own terms. I live a relatively isolated life, and if I chose, I could see only a few different faces over long periods. This is important, because there is a guarantee of not being disturbed, or having to deal with any upsetting dramas, that could undermine the delicacy of unravelling my experience. In that unravelling I have found that my experience synchronises with the descriptions of enlightenment as written about, say, in Zen, for example (I had not studied any of these writings before). I will also point out that I come from a background of severe childhood abuse and so have been dogged with introspection in trying to sort out that mess. Examination, introspection, self analysis, soul searching, navel gazing - they are all 'crushingly' never ending. Observation is totally different. Because of the dynamics of ‘giving up’ and ‘abandoning interference’ (as I wrote), I had actually put myself in a position of losing all ulterior motives, without knowing. Anything that you do, that is motivated by self concern, will always be distorted by that very motive of self concern. But how do you lose self concern? Unfortunately, this is also self concern. When you are 'trying' to understand something you will be inserting your own biases and thoughts, and these will always be from the past, from the known (as Krishnamurti puts it) So we need a 'trick' of actually giving up trying to understand. But that ‘trick’ has to be spontaneous. And that is what happened to me. The reason it has to happen accidentally (like a trick), is because it is necessary to lose all ulterior motives. All ulterior motives are 'self' concern. This is why we have to 'give up' on all searching and spiritual ambition, (again, as talked about by Krishnamurti). But, when we give up, we also have to do it with a good nature and a good heart, we can't do it with bitterness and anger. I said that a mental filter was created. I have had time to examine this. It is a kind of trip wire - for me - it was when I gave up and abandoned all interference, because I knew, completely, it was useless. A Trip Wire means danger, so you step back. That 'danger' can form a permanent and real attribute of your mind. There is no longer any need to make any efforts to create it. It is always there. So introspection and examination end (the examination of my lady friend for example). There is fantastical joy when introspection and examination ends, it is a profound relief. But, when we give up (searching and examination), we also have to do it with a good nature and a good heart, we can't do it with bitterness and anger. Now, with this good nature, and having given up on self obsession, we still have thoughts and feelings and memories and problems, but now we can look at these things without needing to solve them, we can just observe them.
@@akashdeep-xc6nc I don't fully understand your comment. I presume you are substituting the word Looking for the word Examination. The problem with Looking (or Examining), is that there is always a 'separate' Looker doing the looking, or Examiner doing the examining. The Looker or Examiner does not exist in reality. These entity's are created by thought and conditioning and are part of the thing being looked at. An eye cannot look at itself. A thought cannot examine itself. When this is tried, all kinds of interference is created, as when a microphone is moved too close to a an amplifier. Observation without an Observer is just sensitivity. With regards to time. I wrote that a 'filter' is created in the mind. This filter prevents actions such as Introspection and Examination from passing through, because they have been Fully Understood to not work. A Trip Wire is created in the mind. This action stops the flow of disturbing thoughts, they just can no longer penetrate into the considerations of Observation. As disturbance lessens the mind becomes quiter. As the mind becomes quiter and less agitated then disorder disappears. With regards to time. Because of the restraints of the 'filter', there is a kind of discipline and moderation created. This moderation keeps everything in the Now. There is no wandering off into fantasy or dramatic memories. Everything in your psychological life has to pass through this filter. This is Timelessness. (Psychological Time does not exist, in the same way that a Looker doing the looking does not exist).
We have been conditioned to fear death, but when you think about it, it might be the most beautiful moment in the life. Letting go of everything but even knowing that there's something which keeps us afraid of it, perhaps the ego who doesn't want to let of control of self is inciting fear.
Identification with an image of ourselves creates an ego. Ego creates division, conflict. Observe the present moment as it is, without any identification with your past memories. Thoughts are just thoughts, let them go with no effort.
